(Rock Radio) Dave Mustaine of Megadeth has explained why he felt it was time for bassist James LoMenzo to leave the band – making space for original member David Ellefson to return.Mustaine realised during the recording of a secret track called Sudden Death that something was missing from the bass lines, signalling the end of JLo's four years with the thrash giants. And it paved the way for Mustaine and Ellefson to bury their long-term feud, allowing Junior to return in time for a tour marking the 20th anniversary of landmark album Rust in Peace. "It's a top secret track. We can't announce where it's being directed, but it's called Sudden Death, and appropriately so, " Mustaine tells Sirius XM "We started the track with James and finished it with David. When you switch a horse in the middle of a river you've got a 50-50 chance you'll end up driftwood. But we got to the other side in better shape than we left.

The Metal Den has unearthed an extremely rare demo recording of "...And Justice For All" by Metallica. It is not known exactly when the legendary metal act recorded this demo… but there's no doubt… it is totally authentic! You will note on the track that Hetfield sings 'Nah Nah Nah' throughout instead of the actual lyrics for the song. It's important to understand that Hetfield always writes the melody of a song before the actual completed lyrics. It truly helps you appreciate the genius behind his songwriting.

Los Angeles based biker metal supergroup Angus Khan is unleashing its latest music video, this time for the song "Silver and Green." Taken from the hard rock band's debut album Black Leather Soul, the "Silver and Green" video is a sci-fi trip through videogames and the L.A. underground scene. Directed by Pramin Phatiphong for Happy Pixel Studios, the clip stars Stephanie Kim as an alien who abducts Guitar Hero gamer Matt Arzepuleta and drags him through the city nightlife until they enter an Angus Khan concert packed with sweaty, rockin' fans and hot babes. "Working with Angus Khan was one of the easiest and best music videos I've done to date," said Happy Pixel Studios' Robert Fernandez, who served as Director of Photography and co-produced the clip alongside Aaron Land. "The band had a great attitude and was really open to our ideas for the concept of the video. I think what makes the music video great is that is started with a great song. As soon as you hear the opening bass line and the harmonics from the guitar and then the slide guitar...you're hooked. I was very fortunate to hook up with these guys and I really enjoyed shooting the music video with them, especially the live portion...we literally crammed about forty people in to a basement. We were all hot and sweaty and it was hard to hear but Angus Khan trudged on and made it look as if they were playing to an arena. Angus Khan is destined for greatness."

In a recent BBC News interview, former Stranglers frontman Hugh Cornwell endorsed free music downloading, coming just as the British government plans to crack down on illegal downloaders. Hugh, currently touring the United States, argues that a new generation is exposed to his music through the Internet and they, in turn, spend more money on his live performances and albums. "There's a whole generation of people who have never heard of me or the band I used to be in, The Stranglers. The question is, how do I reach them?" Huh asks in the video. "As far as I'm concerned, the free downloading of music is something we should embrace and not fear… People introduced to my music free online are more likely to buy my records and come to my live shows."

1349's upcoming fifth full length, "Demonoir," due out April 27th in North America via Prosthetic Records, was recorded at Studio Nyhagen, deep in the woods in Norway with Tom G. Warrior (Hellhammer, Celtic Frost), who showed the greatest respect for the task and played a key role as motivator and catalyst. His technical role of the recording was that of a co-producer, but far more important was his presence and understanding of what a challenging project Demonoir was.Ravn Comments: "In hindsight, it is our belief that Tom was the missing piece of the puzzle, adding that element of heritage we needed. He represented the direct link to the Creators! We also need to mention three other contributors; Ronnie leTekrö - one of the most acclaimed guitarists on the globe, wrenched his soul inside out as he recorded one of the leads for "Psalm 7:77"; a truly breathtaking experience. We had some excellent, wicked grand piano play carried out by Canadian pianist Tony Caputo. And then there was Thorbjørn Benjaminsen of Hornorkesteret that recorded some spine chilling themes with his stringed reindeer horns, adding a touch of natural grimness to the electric inferno." The band will be hitting the US in April and May in support of Cannibal Corpse, along with new label-mates Skeletonwitch and Lecherous Nocturne.

On June 8, Domino Records will release Villagers' debut album 'Becoming a Jackal.' Since releasing their first EP in 2009, this young Dublin-based group has already opened for Neil Young, booked multiple TV and music festival gigs across Europe, and been touted by the Irish press as "must-see" and "the most sought-after act." Villagers made their U.S. debut last week with shows in New York City and at SXSW. Jon Pareles of the New York Times caught one of songwriter Conor J. O'Brien's solo sets in Austin and said, "With fast fingers, he plucked quickly alternating chords and ballooning, hypnotic crescendos. He has the particularly Irish gift, which he shares with the Frames and U2, for painful sincerity without mawkishness, and at times-this is high praise-he approaches the bitter romanticism of Leonard Cohen." 'Becoming a Jackal was recorded in Villagers guitarist Tommy McLaughlin's home studio, with Tommy engineering and co-producing alongside Conor. Conor created the album art and played all the instruments, except for the strings and French Horn which were arranged by Villagers pianist/organist Cormac Curran. From restrained to unleashed, from a whisper to a literal howl, 'Becoming a Jackal' mutates, intrigues and beguiles in equal measure.

Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Hey Guy vocalist Boris Pelekh tells us about "Lana" from their EP "How To Kill Me". We now turn it over to Boris for the story:I was sitting at my parents house in my boxers. At the time really broke, with no job and no aspirations aside from one; I wanted to write a bunch of new songs and release a record. I picked up my beat up classical guitar that I had from the time I was 9 and started messing around. The first thing that I started playing sounded almost classical of the Baroque period to me. I got really excited and kept moving the progression forward while wrapping the most simple melody around it. It got so entangled that I wasn't sure of how to get back to the original motif that I started with. After 4 hours our of beating the progression over the head, I figured out the most clever way to get back to the original theme. At that moment in my mind I thought -- wow I still come back to you -- and thats when it all came to me; that the process of writing the first part of this song is a metaphor for an obsessive love affair. No matter how much you get crushed in the journey you still come back to her. There is a concept in alternative/post Freudian psychology named "anal". It is referring to a personality type that is hyper-monogamous and incapable of progression -- I named the song Lana cause it is about a girl but its also -- "anal" backwards. The chorus of the song came to me on a subway ride as the verse melody kept spinning around in my head. I kept thinking from the standpoint of an obsessive lover, which I have been plenty of times. How nice it would be if she felt or perhaps expressed that she felt the same as you feel for her -- "if you feel this/ reveal this". The quick scaling melody jumped out with the lyrics "wouldn't it be nice" and I ran home to figure the part out on guitar while repeating it over and over in my head. The bridge idea was sparked at a later day during the first attempts of recording the song. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the band and album
