Metallica Star Paid A Million Bucks For Conan the Conqueror Painting?
(The Metal Den) Metallica's lead guitarist, Kirk Hammett, is reportedly disgusted with the way famed 82 year old artist Frank Frazetta is being treated by certain members in the Frazetta family, who – get this – are allegedly holding the elderly art legend against his own will in Florida.

Frazetta retained all the original Conan paintings, and long refused to part with them. Many were displayed at the Frazetta Museum in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

In 2009, Frazetta's "Conan the Conqueror" painting was the first to be offered for sale, and was purchased by a private collector for $1 million. The supposed buyer was none other than Kirk Hammett, better known for being the lead guitar player in heavy metal's biggest band... - more on this story

Infernaeon Finish Album, Change Lineup
Infernaeon have completed writing their upcoming album for Prosthetic Records and are entering Safe House Production studios to work with legendary guitarist James Murphy (Testament, Obituary, Death), who is working with the band from pre-production through mastering. Infernaeon's last release, "A Symphony of Suffering" was released in March of 2007, also on Prosthetic.

The band is also proud to announce the addition of guitarists Taylor Nordberg and Steven Harger and bassist Mike Poggione. Frontman Brian Werner had this to say about the new members: "It is a real breath of fresh air getting these three in the band. Taylor and Steve are both young, 18 and 19, and hungry and their talent and work ethic are second to none. We've accomplished more in three months than I'd ever been able to accomplish in a year before! I spent time with Mike Poggione in Monstrosity and he's really helping us out in our bass player's absence. Also our drummer Jeramie Kling (The Absence) has really stepped up his game, and in my opinion he could be the next Derek Roddy or Tim Yeung. He has really come into his own as a drummer and it's an honor to still be working with him. The end result is an absolutely amazing sounding album one that I'm proud to be a part of." - more on this story

Taking a few minutes to collect his thoughts on the tour so far, Evile guitarist, Ol Drake recounts the band's excitement to finally play for their great fans around the continent:

"As I sit here stealing someone's Internet, I can't think of the right words to express how excited we are to be out here in the States and Canada. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly to us. It's great. Was awesome to be out with VOIVOD on the first half of Kreator. Such a good band - was an honor to share the stage with them. Kataklysm and Lightning Swords of Death joined the tour the other night, very cool bands and nice guys. There's nothing I love more than being on a tour with good people. All of Kreator and crew are brilliant. Such a pleasure to be here.

We love North America and we're already talking about doing more tours and getting to as many places over here as possible. Like it or not you're going to get more Evile! Oh no! / Oh Yes!" - more on this story

Our Last Night Set New Album Release
Melodic-metal group Our Last Night return with the release of their sophomore album, We Will All Evolve, due out May 4 via Epitaph Records. Fans can check out the first track from the album, "Elephants," streaming now on their MySpace page.

Like the album's title suggests, the New Hampshire quintet have gone through their own evolution over the past few years. Transforming into a tightly knit group and honing their craft of striking technicality, crushing metal-laden riffs and catchy melodic choruses, Our Last night have emerged with one of the scene's most impactful records of 2010.

Produced by Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, Versa Emerge) and mixed by David Bendeth (Breaking Benjamin, Paramore, Set Your Goals), We Will All Evolve explodes with depth and maturity blending harsh and melodious vocals over progressive, breakneck-metal driven guitars, heavy hitting bass and pummeling drums. Ripping through thirty-seven plus minutes of melodic mayhem with tracks like the furious first single, "Elephants," the indisputably catchy "The Air I Breath," and the bouncy pop-metal hybrid "Into the Future," Our Last Night prove without a doubt why they'll be the scene's most buzzed about band. - more on this story

Passion Pit's Ayad Al Adhamy Inks The Joy Formidable To Black Bell Records
Wales trio The Joy Formidable is the first band signed to Black Bell Records, the label founded by Passion Pit's Ayad Al Adhamy. The band's debut release on Black Bell will be an 8-song EP titled A Balloon Called Moaning on May 4. The EP was recorded in the band's home bedroom studio, and was entirely self-produced.

Of his roster's first act, Ayad says that "The Joy Formidable grabbed my attention when I first heard the EP. The loud guitars, epic drums and dense textures with lush pop vocals and melodies just stood out from everything else I was listening to. Since then I've been an addict, and so has everyone I have shown this band to."

The Joy Formidable was conceived by music-obsessed friends Ritzy Bryan and Rhyddian Dafydd when they were both students in Wales. After a brief hiatus during which Ritzy and Rhyddian went their separate ways, the pair reunited in Wales and began to develop their sound. They relocated to London, brought in drummer Matt Thomas, and got down to writing and recording a record.

Brother Dege To Give Us Folk Songs Of The American Longhair Album and Tour
Get ready for some raw dirt, railroad pounding, swamp-fried, Louisiana Mekong Delta blues music. Like the mad lovechild of Robert Johnson and Jim Morrison, Dege Legg (aka Brother Dege), the Cajun-born and Louisiana-raised leader of the band Santeria, releases his highly anticipated "slide/Dobro record" entitled Folk Songs Of The American Longhair, produced by 4x Grammy-winner Tony Daigle (Dr. John, Sonny Landreth, Gatemouth Brown, Bobby Charles), Legg and Primo (also from Santeria).

This is Delta Blues for the 21st Century, raging out of the swamplands of Louisiana. Dripping with atmosphere and backwoods noir. The real deal—death-obsessed, god-fearing, foot stomping acoustic blues steeped in the devilish myths and haunted ambience that permeates every inch of Louisiana. Factor in some Historic longhaired rock & roll influences – from Sabbath to Black Flag – and you've got an art project and anthropological study wrapped in one time traveling package.

Folk Songs of the American Longhair takes the listener on a mind-bending, soul-crushing slide guitar journey into the backroads of the Deep South. Legg composed ten original tunes in the Delta-slide tradition, paying tribute to the old masters while pushing into the apocalyptic future. Much like the field recordings of Alan Lomax, the record tunnels into the ancient mysteries of pre-war blues, recorded in sheds, old houses and open fields. It's like Son House at a surrealist convention. Slide players from the U.S. to Europe are already covering the tunes - via a series of live Brother Dege YouTube videos which have garnered over 150,000 plays with no promotional hype or jive. - more on this story

Sing It Loud Going Soph in May
Minneapolis pop-rock group Sing It Loud will be releasing their sophomore album, Everything Collide, on May 11 via Epitaph Records.

Made up of Pat Brown (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Kieren Smith (Guitar/Backing Vocals), Nate Flynn (Bass), Ben Peterson (Piano/Keyboard) and Chris Lee (Drums), the quintet entered Studio Melmac in Minneapolis in the fall of 2009 with producer/engineer/mixer Jordan Schmidt (All Time Low, Quietdrive) at the helm, while Grammy Award-winner Mike Shipley (My Chemical Romance, Def Leppard) provided additional mixes after recording. The result is thirty-seven minutes of undeniable, chart-worthy pop-rock hits that will please their fans and have new listeners falling head-over-heels for them soon.

"I know many bands say this but we wanted to make an album that would stand out from all of the bands releasing albums in our genre and I truly feel like we went above and beyond that expectation," explains frontman Pat Brown. "We also wanted to create an album that you can listen to from front to back that is strong and dynamic all the way through, which I feel doesn't happen enough these days. I remember listening to bands like Taking Back Sunday, The Starting Line, Less Than Jake, Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack, bands I would listen to their albums over and over and over from track one until the end. That's what I think people will do with Everything Collide." - more on this story
