Metallica fans in Israel were excited when they learned that the band would return to the country for the first time in over a decade on May 22nd to play at the Ramat Gan stadium in Tel Aviv. However, their mood blackened when they learned about the excessive ticket prices. Metal Israel reports that the show's "producer Marcel Avram is charging no less than 600 shekel for the cheapest seats (around $159 according to today's exchange rate) while floor seats are twice that price." Because of this an online drive via Facebook has been started by fans calling for a boycott of the show. Over 500 fans have reportedly already agreed to boycott the concert. According to Metal Israel, "The initiators of the boycott state that Metallica tickets do not cost nearly as much as this in the rest of the world and assert that the promoter is trying to take advantage of loyal Metallica fans."

The Courier-Mail now reports that the fan has lost the sight in his right eye due to his injuries. According to the Mail report, "Terry Watson, 31, of Morningside stabbed himself in the face with a metal manipulator prong as his wheelchair crashed more than a metre into the mosh pit" after his friend accidently hit a control on his wheel chair. North America will soon see the release of Steve Hackett's new album Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth. The album is scheduled to hit streets on June 8th via InsideOut Music. Released late last year in the world-renowned guitarist/composer's native UK, Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth is a rock album which features beautifully-sweeping symphonic sounds highlighted by Hackett's signature soaring guitar and unsullied vocals. The tracks contain a mιlange of influences from classical to Middle Eastern and showcase Hackett's prowess as a composer with the ability to meld seemingly disparate styles. Although majestic in sound and scope, Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth was recorded in Hackett's living room and produced in a virtual studio there by longtime writing partner, keyboardist and producer Roger King. Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today WildeStarr lead vocalist London Wilde tells us about the title track from their album "Arrival". We now turn it over to London for the story:One night in 2003, I fell asleep next to Dave (WildeStarr guitarist Dave Starr). I dreamt that we were pulled over by cops. I sat in the car while a group of them surrounded Dave. I could not see what they were doing. I had a sense something was wrong, and as I tried to move, a Cop grabbed my shoulders. TIGHT. DON'T MOVE he said without moving his lips. I looked into the eyes of the cop to plead or bargain, and stopped dead. The solid black eyes staring back were not human. They looked at me as if I was an insect. I awoke in a panic, only to discover that the room was bathed in a humming and pulsing red light. I still had some sense that something bad was happening to Dave, but I found that I could not move. I was utterly paralyzed. I could see down the hall through the doorway, and the red light was everywhere. Suddenly it stopped. Gone. I could move. I turned to Dave, woke him up and asked him if he saw the weird red light. He said, no, but that he and his first wife had awoken to the same bizarre red light back in 1981, and he had seen it again in 1985 when he was alone at his rehersal studio. After that we started to joke that aliens were "studying" Dave. I just filed it under "Bizarre thing that's happened to me #958" and forgot about it. Fast forward to 2006, Dave came up with this really killer bass line, kind of a rolling sultry sounding bom bom bom bom bom bom bom bom BOM bom, but it was menacing at the same time. We were talking, I asked him what kind of feel was he looking for in the verse, and he was thinking of a mechanical "Techno" feeling beat, which got me thinking about writing something SciFi. I immediately thought of the red light experience, and did a little digging. I discovered that in real life, there is a weapon called a tetanizer, that can be deployed from the air, which renders those on the ground paralyzed. So the first lines were born. "In the fear of night...Wake up and Dream...You are the target of a pulsing ion beam. No time to sweat..they threw the switch...your muscles frozen in a tetanizing grip". The Chorus was an interesting challenge, how to talk about alien visitation without sounding silly? I wanted the song to be a bit frightening. During that time I noticed a lot of talk and people's interest in "Angels". I started thinking, angels come from the sky, look down on you, visit you...so then an alien visitation would be an "Angel of a new kind". I wanted to convey pure terror, so I used the word "bleeding" to get the idea of the movement of the light across. "Walls are bleeding red light...Bare Force Controls the Night...Desperation Fills your Mind...Angel of a new kind" I approached the keyboards more like a film score for Arrival, laying in textures and sound beds. Some of the key sounds are very complex and carefully mixed layers of up to 5 different sounds to get just the right tone and feel for the emotion I was trying to evoke. My favorite sound of all time is the one I created in between the first and second part of the first verse. It just hangs on one note, but it has the Dιtachι or "zhu" sound , which means the attack of a violin bow, with Bagpipe sounding undertones, that just vibrates your ears throat and chest in a way that feels like a tickle. I am the most proud of that sound, I could listen to it all day! Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

Critically-praised Cleveland duo Mr. Gnome has announced U.S. tour dates beginning in March in support of a new EP due out later this month. The EP, titled Tastes Like Magic will be released on vinyl and digital download on March 16th. The new songs were recorded at Josh Homme's (QOTSA, Them Crooked Vultures) Pink Duck Studios in Los Angeles, where Mr. Gnome also recorded its recent album, Heave Yer Skeleton. Chan "Cat Power" Marshall fronting Queens of the Stone Age? Karen O leading Death From Above 1979? Mr. Gnome has been given many unusual comparisons, all of which seem to indicate the band's spectacularly unique sound. And, while none seem to fully capture the band's loftily heavy-beautiful music, Mr. Gnome continues to captivate and inspire writers and audiences alike.

Otis Taylor digs the past. Whether it's the songs he wrote a decade ago, or ancient civilizations that lived more than 10,000 years ago, he's drawn to stories from another time, and he's compelled to retell them in a way that's relevant in the modern day. On Clovis People, set for release May 11, 2010, on Telarc International, a division of Concord Music Group, Taylor writes his own history. It's the ideal project for the architect of a sparse and hypnotic style that has come to be known as "trance blues." Taylor has spent his career crafting songs that are wide open to interpretation thematically as well as structurally. "I give people a starting point, and then they can take it where they want to take it," he explains. "That's true for the people playing my music as well as the people listening to it. That's how art should be. A person looking at a painting should be able to interpret it in whatever way he wants. The more words you put into a song, the less freedom the listener has to decide what it means." The album title is inspired by a recent scientific discovery very close to Taylor's home in Boulder, Colorado. Barely 100 yards from the edge of his property, archeologists dug up a cache of tools and other implements belonging to a civilization known as the Clovis people, who walked the earth briefly about 13,000 years ago and then mysteriously disappeared.

Everest's bold sophomore LP, On Approach [due April 20 on Vapor Records], soars to new heights, and reveals a band that is both confident and unified. "We weren't a band for very long when we made Ghost Notes," admits Russell Pollard (vocals, guitar, drums, lyricist).Ghost Notes was indeed an impressive debut for the quintet, one that carved a very specific slot in the current rock 'n' roll landscape, and offered them remarkable touring opportunities alongside peers and heroes including My Morning Jacket, Wilco and Neil Young. "We had songs, we recorded them in just two weeks, then immediately toured. On Approach has been a completely different experience," Pollard adds. Naturally, time on the road is a formative experience and Everest bloomed in a maximum capacity, finding their voice as a collective. "Now it's guys who've actually struggled together and survived some tight spaces, cramped hotel rooms, some arguments and some really, really good times. There was a lot of collaboration, and we weren't afraid to do anything," reveals Pollard. From infectious and thumping opener, "Let Go," to rocking, "House of 9's," or the sweet humming of, "Keeping The Score," it's apparent this is a singular unit that has creatively matured both collectively and individually.
