Aerosmith Tour Won't Be Sidelined By Accident
Last year, Aerosmith's North American tour was sidelined when frontman Steven Tyler fell off the stage but Joe Perry's recent motorcycle accident won't stop the band from kicking off their tour later this week.

Michael Wright of Gibson.com reports: Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton addressed the press during batting practice of a Boston Red Sox game Friday, telling local media that guitarist Joe Perry's injuries, sustained in a motorcycle accident on Thursday afternoon, would not affect the band's upcoming tour. Hamilton was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the game.

Hamilton told Boston Fox affiliate WFXT: "He's doing good. He's a bit sore today, but he's well and we're looking forward to heading out the West Coast on Wednesday to start doing some touring in the States." - more on this story

Slash Explains Fan Attack and Velvet Revolver's Future
Slash recently took a break from his busy schedule to talk with Michael Wright of Gibson.com. They cover a lot of ground in the interview but there two hot topics caught out eye. First Michael asks Slash about the recent incident in Milan (where a fan bum-rushed Slash onstage).

Slash: That wasn't that bad. That wasn't that big of a deal. It could have been a lot worse. But the way that it turned out, the guy that got up there, you know, ended up going over the front of the stage with my security guard and I sort of just got tagged along the way. It's not that big of a deal. I mean, come on. It's a rock and roll band. (laughs)

Gibson.com: What is the status of Velvet Revolver right now? Your website says, ominously, "New Velvet Revolver Coming..." Do you have any idea when…or with whom on vocals?

Slash: Well, the main thing is looking for a singer. And everybody has been quietly listening to demos and stuff from singers this whole time. They're just really, really few and far between. There are a lot of good singers, but the right kind of rock and roll singer for a band like Velvet Revolver is very few and far between. So everybody has been doing their own thing in the meantime. We will reconvene sometime next year and sit down and listen to all of the demos that we have and see if we have anything. As soon as we do find the right guy, then we'll focus on making another record. - Read the full interview here

U2 Beat AC/DC
AC/DC may have nabbed honors for the biggest selling tour but when it comes to overall profits, U2 has them beat. Russell Hall of Gibson.com has the details: U2 have scored the top spot in Forbes' annual report on top-earning musicians, RollingStone.com has reported. Fueled by their 360 Degree Tour, the veteran band netted $130 million during the past 12 months.

AC/DC, who just completed their ambitious Black Ice World Tour on June 28, came in second, with Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, and Britney Spears rounding out the top five.

Forbes bases its calculations on net income from ticket sales, record sales, and endorsement deals, with record sales generally being the least lucrative component in the mix. The U2 tour earned the band $311 million in gross proceeds, with overhead costs of $750,000 per day eating into overall profits. - more on this story

Leonard Cohen Bird On A Wire Finally Coming to DVD
Leonard Cohen "Bird On A Wire" comes to DVD on August 31 making Tony Palmer's 1972 European Tour film finally available to consumers.

Originally made in 1972 and directed by celebrated British filmmaker Tony Palmer, "Bird On A Wire" follows Cohen on his 1972 European tour and contains 17 classic performances, 4 poems and tour footage. After massive re-editing, although not by Palmer, it was released in 1974, had a very limited run and then 'disappeared'. Like many films from the era it was thought that the original version had been lost, but in 2009, 294 rolls of film were discovered containing much of the original rushes and soundtrack of the 1972 film. Palmer was able to restore much of this footage and it is now available on DVD for the first time.

"When, in 2009, 294 cans of film were discovered in a warehouse in Hollywood, in rusted up cans that sometimes had to be hammered open, and these cans were shipped to me by, of all people, Frank Zappa's manager, I believed at first that nothing could be salvaged. The cans did not contain the negative (still lost); some of the prints were in black & white; and much of it had been cut to pieces and/or scratched beyond use. But when I finally opened one box and found most of the original sound dubbing tracks, I knew we had a hope of putting the jigsaw back together," said Palmer. "So now, taking full advantage of the latest digital technology, this is what we have done, piece by piece, slowly and painstakingly. It has taken months and months, and probably has cost more than the original filming, and although it's by no means perfect, it's very close now to the original."

Ted Nugent and Sebastian Bach Help John Rich Rock The Country World
Country star John Rich wants to rock and he's getting a little help from Ted Nugent and Sebastian Bach. Andrew Vaughan from Gibson.com has a new profile of Rich's rockin new music: After the more thoughtful tone of 2009's Son of a Preacher Man album, the flamboyant Big & Rich star is bringing rock back into country.

He has a new single, "Country Done Come to Town" that's full-throttle, rockin' country that matches the high-energy and quality of Big & Rich singles "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" and "Comin' to Your City," with an album to follow, which he describes as "the most aggressive rock and roll music I've made."

There's ZZ Top swagger and sound to the new song and its "good time at Rich's house" video, complete with bikini clad girls, George Jones, Sebastian Bach and babes bouncing in a kiddie pool filled with creamed corn, (as well as Ted Nugent jumping on stage with his Les Paul to complement Rich's "Musik Mafia" rhinestone inlaid Flying V for good measure.) "Everyone from Ted Nugent to Two-Foot Fred to George Jones, they're all in the video – it's crazy man – all my rowdy friends," Rich said. - more on this story

David Byrne Going Wall Street and Bang on a Can's Asphalt Orchestra
David Byrne is supplying nine tracks (including several songs from his 2008 collaboration with Brian Eno, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today) to the film and the soundtrack to Oliver Stone's upcoming Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. The soundtrack is due to be released September 21 on Todomundo Records.

Byrne has also collaborated with multi-instrumentalist St. Vincent on a composition for Bang on a Can's Asphalt Orchestra, a 12-piece marching band known for playing compositions by artists ranging from Bjφrk to Charles Mingus. Arranged by Ken Thomson, the as-yet-untitled piece will be premiered at Lincoln Center on August 7.

Notes on St. Vincent collaboration from David: About a year ago, I ran into St. Vincent at the Housing Works benefit in which Dirty Projectors and Bjork performed together. How's that for dropping a lot of names in one sentence? Anyway, Annie and I had previously met at the Dark Was the Night benefit in which we both performed, and I'd said I was a fan of her music and disturbing videos. So when Rachel at my office, who volunteers at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, passed on a suggestion that Annie and I do a similar collaboration, I immediately said yes, though I didn't think we could pull together a short set of new material as fast as Longstreth did (6 weeks, I think). They'd raised the bar pretty high, and as a result we agreed to come up with new material. - more on this story

Singled Out: Lillian Axe's 47 Ways to Die
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Steve Blaze from Lillian Axe tells us about "47 Ways to Die" from their brand new album "Deep Red Shadows". We now turn it over to for the story:

47 Ways to Die was written as I observed how our society takes the beauty of life for granted. We do so many things that are detrimental to ourselves and others that we have become a selfish and greedy world. Man tries to inadvertently kill himself on so many levels by not seeing the forest for the trees.
When you step back and see the big picture, it really is a beautiful one.

It takes hard work and sacrifice but it's there for us in all of its majesty. I get really frustrated when I see how people all across the planet refuse to appreciate each other and the gift of life that we have been given.

Everyone wants to be the center of attention and most people will do what it takes to get there regardless of the method. In actuality, there is plenty of room for all of us to be that center. The actual writing of the song came very smoothly and quicker than most songs. The flow was very natural.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

Metallica Says Classic Rock and Metal Still Relevant To Current Generation
As Metallica prepare to travel Down Under for a series of shows this fall, drummer Lars Ulrich spoke at some length with local paper the Herald Sun about subjects as diverse as playing to younger crowds, the Napster fallout and suffering from ongoing ribbing at the hands of former Oasis guitarist-songwriter Noel Gallagher.

Regarding the younger generations that are filling arenas to see the band these days, Ulrich said:

"A lot of kids are getting turned on to our stuff by their parents who grew up with us. Somehow the music from the '80s – Metallica and Megadeth and Slayer and '70s stuff like Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple and Black Sabbath – they seem to have a relevance to kids these days. They seem to connect with it." - more on this story

Molly Hatchet's latest studio effort Justice hit stores on June 1st, 2010 and the band is currently on tour supporting the effort. As they add new dates to the outing, guitarist and songwriter Bobby Ingram checks in with this update about the meaning of the trek to the band:

".....As we are on tour now and playing the new album "Justice" in circulation in many countries we are seeing so many people, cultures and countries filled with Southern Rockers that all relate to the theme of the new album. We have all experienced from both sides Justice sought and Justice Served...when playing the new album live we see people react to all of the songs played from "Southern Pride" to "Fly on Wings of Angels" (Somer's Song) with a complete understanding of "Justice". We all must help each other during these times of hardship around the world and one person help another and another...in the end we all help each other and true "Justice" is served. God Bless and see you all on tour!!!"

The band line-up for this tour consists of George Lynch (shred master), Oni Logan (vox), Michael Devin (bassologist) and Brian Tichy (time-keeper).

After seventeen long years singer Oni Logan and guitar wizard George Lynch found their way back together and again show their amazing abilities in some killer new Hard Rock songs." I would say this new record "Smoke and Mirrors", is the record we should have put out as a follow up to "Wicked Sensation"...better late than never I guess...", says Lynch presenting the new record.
