Two big speculations come out of Gibson.com's new interview with Triumph's Rik Emmett. One big story is that the band may reunite for a major tour next year. The even bigger news it that tour may be with Van Halen. Here is that part of the interview: We're scheduled to go for a dinner tonight with a couple of guys from Live Nation that have flown into town and want to take us to dinner," Emmett tells Gibson.com. "I'm sure there's going to be some sort of a pitch. The rumors that have been sort of blowing in the wind are that Van Halen want to go back out yet again next year, but they're going to need some sort of support to make the packaging a little more interesting. "Because Triumph hasn't really ever toured in any kind of a nostalgia way, I think Live Nation kind of goes, 'Oh, yeah, you guys would be perfect for that.' So, we'll see sort of the size and the shape and the glitter of the golden carrots that they have."

Metallica had good news and bad news on Tuesday. Good news for fans in New Zealand, they are getting a new tour date. The bad news is for everyone else in the world that was holding out hope that the band would be visiting you. Here is what they had to say: Dear Friends: We are so psyched to add a second show in Christchurch, New Zealand at CBS Canterbury Arena on September 21...thanks again for demanding that we visit you there!!Now to the real reason we're here taking up space on this site...we also want to announce that all of our play dates have now filled up with the addition of this show...that's right boys and girls, this will be the last date added to the World Magnetic Tour! So if you're waiting for us to come to the Polar Ice Caps, your undiscovered planet or even your basement, sorry, this is as good at it gets. It has been a very long, and most amazing run. The number of shows played depends on when you start counting. We are gonna go with what the boys in the band say, 'cuz they have been out on the road more or less continuously since May of 2008 and that brings us up to a total of 212 shows in 153 cities. Each and every one of them has been memorable and special and we thank you for that. This is where we could spew a bunch of crazy numbers at you...you know the 2.3 million tickets sold, 300 million miles traveled, 3,000 pounds of bacon consumed "shtick," but you don't care about that stuff and frankly neither do we. What we DO care about is letting you know the immense gratitude we feel for all of your love and support over these past two and half years. When we embarked on this "magnetic" journey, none of us ever, in our wildest dreams, imagined how truly incredible it would be and it's all because of hanging out with YOU!

If you were wondering why the recent reunion of Led Zeppelin with a new singer didn't come off, Rock Radio has the answer: Led Zeppelin drummer Jason Bonham says the band got "as close as you could get" to touring without singer Robert Plant after their reunion show in 2007 – but they weren't going to hit the road with Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy.Kennedy, currently touring with Slash and rumoured to be in the frame for the vacant Velvet Revolver job, was thought to have been the man chosen after Plant decided he didn't want to tour. The project was abandoned for undisclosed reasons – but now Bonham, son of original Zep drummer John, reveals it was due to a disagreement between Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, and that Kennedy was already out of the picture by then.

Remember rumors earlier this year that CBS would be bringing back Rock Star? The traditionally summer season show didn't show up on the air this year, but the biggest rumor was that the show would be held to pick members for a new KISS. Now you can add a new rumor to the Rock Star saga courtesy of the usual unnamed source. Bret Michaels may be involved in a new season of the show.Where this new rumor ties into the old KISS one we don't know, but Poison were known to be big KISS fans. They did cover one of their songs and Paul Stanley appeared in an early video of theirs. That is all blind speculation and we warn that with reports based on the word of unnamed "sources" read and believe with a ton of salt. (Also please note that the KISS rumor was never confirmed). HollywoodLife.com has spoken to a source "very close" to Bret Michaels who told them: "He's been approached by numerous networks," says thier source. "But it looks as though Rock Star could definitely be the one." That site called it Rock Star: Supernova after the "supergroup" that was formed in the second season but quickly lived up to its name and supernova'd out of existence.

Slash tells Metal Hammer Germany that Velvet Revolver is heading into a different musical direction now that they don't have to conform to Scott Weiland's vocal style."When Scott was out of the band and we came back to L.A. we just started doing some writing and we just went back to the way we normally would write, which is pretty heavy anyway." He continues, "We sort of altered things a little bit to fit Scott, but now, this, we're gonna do stuff our way and then try and find someone who can sing it the way that it should be sung." When asked if Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge who is heading up his solo touring band, was going to join Velvet Revolver, Slash said that he had been asked before but had other commitments. Finally, unlike his heap of praise for Axl and Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy," when asked if he had heard the new Stone Temple Pilots album, he said that he had only heard the single on the radio. When asked if he liked it he said, "sounds like, yeah, it's ok".

Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax will tour together once again on Leg Two of the "American Carnage Tour." Anthrax recently welcomed back singer Joey Belladonna, who defined the band during its heyday, and now permanently back in the band, will be front-and-center. Rock Radio has interesting article about Iron Maiden where guitarist Janick Gers goes into details about the band's current tour setlist which has upset some fans. But he also address the rumors that Iron Maiden were planning to retire after the release of their new album. Here is that part of the report:The title of the band's 15th studio album has led to increased speculation about Maiden's future, coupled with the fact that mainman Steve Harris used to regularly say the band would record 15 albums then split up. "It's been fun, and as long as we enjoy it and it feels valid and the fans are still coming and we have great concerts – I'd like to carry on," Gers said. "The minute I don't enjoy it and we don't deliver, I wouldn't want to carry on as a parody act doing a cabaret show."

Rock Radio has this report for those pondering what the future might hold for Black Sabbath: Heaven and Hell guitarist Tony Iommi regrets that he didn't make it to Ronnie James Dio's bedside before the singer died of cancer in May. Only after the band play their final show in at High Voltage in London will he think about the future – and he won't rule out a Black Sabbath reunion with Ozzy Osbourne.Iommi tells the Sunday Mercury: "This will be the last gig as Heaven and Hell. We couldn't carry on without Ronnie – it just wouldn't be right, and none of us has the desire to do that. We wouldn't want to call ourselves Black Sabbath either. "We'd like to do something, but in what form, and with what singer, I don't know." He says of reuniting with Ozzy, "I spoke to Ozzy after Ronnie's funeral and he said he'd give me a call when he got to England on his tour. I've not had that call yet. Ozzy and I have a complicated relationship. Would I play with him again? Who knows? It's weird with me and Ozzy. We can decide what we'd like to do after the tribute is done."

Harper Collins will release Steven Adler's new autobiography on July 27th. The publisher has posted some details from the book online and we learn some interesting things like the fact that Adler has overdosed 28 times. Here is what they had to say about the book: From Steven Adler, the original drummer for Guns N' Roses, comes My Appetite for Destruction, the inside story of GNR. Offering a different perspective from the bestselling Slash, Adler chronicles his life with the band, and own intense struggle with addiction, as seen on Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab and Sober House. After forty years, twenty-eight ODs, three botched suicides, two heart attacks, a couple of jail stints, and a debilitating stroke, Steven Adler, the most self-destructive rock star ever, is ready to share the shattering untold truth in My Appetite for Destruction. When Adler was eleven years old he told his two closest friends he was going to be a rock star in the world's greatest band. Along with four uniquely talented—but very complicated and demanding—musicians, Adler helped form Guns N' Roses. They rose from the streets—primal rockers who obliterated glam rock and its big hair to resurrect rock's truer blues roots.
