Slash Band Member Nearly Blinded
The bassist for Slash's solo touring band Todd Kerns (Sin City Sinners) reportedly played most of their UK tour on the verge of suffering a detached retina.

Rock Radio reports: And he was told just hours before taking the stage at Glastonbury he could lose his sight permanently.

He started losing having problems ahead of the band's flight to the UK at the end of June. Steven Adler's Appetite for Destruction Detailed
Harper Collins will release Steven Adler's new autobiography on July 27th. The publisher has posted some details from the book online and we learn some interesting things like the fact that Adler has overdosed 28 times. Here is what they had to say about the book: From Steven Adler, the original drummer for Guns N' Roses, comes My Appetite for Destruction, the inside story of GNR. Offering a different perspective from the bestselling Slash, Adler chronicles his life with the band, and own intense struggle with addiction, as seen on Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.

After forty years, twenty-eight ODs, three botched suicides, two heart attacks, a couple of jail stints, and a debilitating stroke, Steven Adler, the most self-destructive rock star ever, is ready to share the shattering untold truth in My Appetite for Destruction.

When Adler was eleven years old he told his two closest friends he was going to be a rock star in the world's greatest band. Along with four uniquely talented—but very complicated and demanding—musicians, Adler helped form Guns N' Roses. They rose from the streets—primal rockers who obliterated glam rock and its big hair to resurrect rock's truer blues roots. - more on this story

Nick Lowe Announces U.S. Full Band Tour
Big news for U.S. Nick Lowe fans, in October he will bring a full band to this side of the Atlantic for a national tour for the first time this millennium.

Droves of U.S. fans have watched enraptured, as Nick has perfected his now legendary solo performances over the past ten years, culminating in his awe-inspiring Austin City Limits performance from season XX. Constant clamoring for full band renditions of his new and classic material has finally paid off, resulting in a national tour this fall. The U.S. line-up will feature Geraint Watkins (keyboards), Robert Trehern (drums), Johnny Scott (guitar) and Matt Radford (bass).

An architect of pub rock with Brinsley Schwartz and Rockpile, then later emerging as the co-founder of Stiff Records, Lowe debuted as a solo artist with pop monolith Jesus of Cool/Pure Pop for Now People in 1978. In recent years, Lowe has continued to produce some of his most critically-acclaimed solo albums with The Impossible Bird, Dig My Mood, The Convincer and most recently, the amazing At My Age.

Carlos Santana Proposes On Stage
Talk about a proposal that you will never forget. Imagine having the experience in front of thousands of people. Carlos Santana doesn't have to imagine it as the legendary guitarist proposed to acclaimed Cindy Blackman onstage during his Friday, July 9 concert at the Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, IL.

Carlos popped the question four songs into the show—the Chicago area stop on Santana's Universal Tone Tour 2010—following Cindy's virtuoso drum solo on the Santana hit "Corazon Espinado." After she accepted, the just-engaged couple kissed, and the audience broke out into cheers.

"Cindy and I are blessed to have found each other," said Carlos Santana. "Being in love is a gift from the universe, and the spirit and vibrations that come with it are infinitely powerful. I look forward to expressing that incredible energy through my music, and in helping to tip the balance toward more love in the world with what Cindy and I share."

Singled Out: Tony Lucca's Always
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Tony Lucca tells us about "Always" from his brand new album "Rendezvous With The Angel," which comes out today. We now turn it over to Tony for the story:

As an independent artist who spends more than half the year on the road, I wind up getting in most of my songwriting between sound checks and showtimes, in the back seat of a tour van or in some cheap hotel room on any of a handful of my days off. Unfortunately, I was on tour while my wife was in her third trimester, expecting our daughter, Sparrow. Of course my head was spinning with countless thoughts of becoming a father for the first time, much less that of a baby girl. Somehow the idea of being able to honestly Love someone - completely, unconditionally, forever - became so overwhelming that I couldn't help but write about it. The words came to me during a night drive through Colorado and the next day I was able to sit down at a piano and came up with something to go along with it. The result was the song "Always." It's funny how quiet I'm able to get some rooms when playing this song live. Even the toughest of cookies seem to connect to it, especially if they've ever had the pleasure of bringing a child into the world and loving them as only a parent can. It's pretty damn cool, really.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

August Burns Red Announce CD and DVD Release
August Burns Red have set a September 28th release date for their first live CD and DVD, entitled Home. Here is the announcement with some details:

The DVD/CD shoot - filmed last month in, appropriately enough, the band's Home-town of Manheim, PA - drew a sold-out crowd of 1250 people who wanted to participate in the exciting performance, including some who traveled internationally, from as close as Montreal to as far as away as Amsterdam.

"We played our first ever show as a band in Manheim, PA in April of 2003," explains guitarist JB Brubaker. "Between then and now we've been fortunate enough to play all over the world. But when it came time for us to record our first live DVD/CD, it only made sense to do so back in Manheim where everything began. It was exciting for us to have people come from far and wide to the town where most of us grew up, and to be able to play such a special show in front of our families and close friends who have been supporting us since the beginning." - more on this story

Place Of Skulls Eye Fall Release
Place Of Skulls will release their fourth full-length album, As A Dog Returns, some time this fall.

The follow-up to 2006's The Black Is Never Far was recorded at Lakeside Studios in Knoxville by Travis Wyrick and founding guitarist/vocalist Victor Griffin (Pentagram, Death Row, Cathedral, Joe Hasselvander) with drums recorded and engineered by Mike Dearing.

Said Griffin of the band's latest output: "The new album As A Dog Returns picks up dynamically where The Black Is Never Far left off. Where The Black... album had a bit more of a depressive theme lyrically, the new album tends to look to a brighter outcome. Musically we've gone further than ever before with dynamics and production. Though all the PLACE OF SKULLS' brand of heaviness you would expect is certainly there, there's a nice ebb and flow with quieter parts which tend to set a very dramatic and melancholy mood at times to the overall album.
