Killing Time Return!
New York City's influential hardcore outfit, Killing Time, is gearing up for the release of their first studio album of newly recorded songs in over a decade. The 12-song full-length release, Three Steps Back, will hit stores on February 9th, courtesy of Dead City Records.

Three Steps Back was written in the band's original practice garage, the same place where they wrote the tracks for their first demo in 1988, and their first full length, Brightside, in 1989.

The new record holds true to the Killing Time formula of hard-hitting, riff-heavy guitars and intelligent lyrics, backed by the pure passion that is synonymous with each Killing Time release. - more on this story

The Knife Opera
The Knife, in collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock, are to release the studio version of the opera 'Tomorrow, In A Year', will be in stores March 9, 2010. The album will be released on digital download sites February 2, 2010.

Commissioned by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma to write the music for their opera based on Charles Darwin and his book 'On the Origin of the Species', The Knife decided to make this a collaborative process, working with artists Mt. Sims and Planningtorock for the first time, to capture the huge width of the Darwin and evolution theme. They extensively researched Darwin related literature and articles, with Olof attending a field recording workshop in the Amazon to find inspiration and to record sounds.

'Tomorrow, In A Year' is a unique musical project. Richard Dawkins' gene trees have formed the basis of some of the musical composition, artificial sounds have been mixed with field recordings, with the music inspired by everything from the different stages of a bird learning its melody, to a song based on Darwin's loving letters about his daughter Anne. These are compositions that challenge the conventional conception of opera music. - more on this story

Jon Troast Previews Living Room
After recently completing his aggressive and unique 100 Concerts In 100 Days Tour - where from March 20th to June 27th of this year he performed 100 living room concerts throughout the nation in 100 consecutive days - singer/songwriter Jon Troast has also worked in enough time to head back into the studio to record his latest full-length album aptly titled Living Room.

To jump start the January 19th release of Jon's new album director Matt Mason has produced a new video for Jon's "Living Room Tour" song, which playfully recreates the fun, honest, down-home vibe of his recent 100 Concerts In 100 Days Tour. The video can be viewed more

The majority of Living Room was directly inspired by Jon's many experiences from his 100 Concerts in 100 Days Tour. As Jon states, "Some of it is personal reflection from being on the road, and some of it was inspired by the people I met. It was such a privilege to see little snapshots of people's lives all across the country." - more on this story

April Smith & The Great Picture Show Join Langhorne Slim Tour
April Smith & The Great Picture Show will support Langhorne Slim's January 2010 U.S. tour, kicking off in Hoboken, New Jersey, on January 21. The 17-date run includes dates in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, Denver and other markets before concluding in Columbus, Ohio, on February 13 -- just ten days before the release of Smith's new album, "Songs For A Sinking Ship". See below for a list of tour dates.

April Smith & The Great Picture Show will self-release their new album "Songs For A Sinking Ship" on February 23. Smith and her band are riding a wave of critical acclaim, including the RollingStone.com proclamation, "It's possible you haven't heard much about April Smith, but all that is about to change." The 11-track album was produced by Dan Romer (Ingrid Michaelson, Jenny Owen Youngs).

April Smith & The Great Picture Show play sassy pop music informed by the '30s and '40s, juke joints and cabaret, the Andrews Sisters and Tom Waits. Smith supported a national tour by singer and Eagles/Linda Ronstadt songwriter J.D. Souther in 2008 and played Lollapalooza 2009, in addition to appearing on an episode of the syndicated TV show Fearless Music and recording sessions for New York radio stations WRXP-FM and WFUV-FM -- all as an unsigned artist with (at the time) no current album. In the summer of 2009, Smith sought to raise $10,000 to record and release "Songs For A Sinking Ship" from her fans via Kickstarter.com, a fundraising site for artists and creators. In the two months allotted for the campaign, Smith exceeded her goal, eventually earning more than $13,000 in pledges. - more on this story
