Aerosmith To Return to The Stage Next Month
antiMusic reports: Aerosmith plan to return to the stage next month. This news comes after the band pulled the plug on their summer tour with ZZ Top following a fall from the stage from frontman Steven Tyler. But before you get too excited, the band isn't returning to touring. They instead have a legal obligation to hit the stage this time.

starbulletin.com has the details: Aerosmith will finally make good on playing two concerts in Hawaii next month, after cancelling a Maui concert two years ago that resulted in a class action lawsuit, then recently cancelling the remainder of their recent tour due to injuries to lead singer Steven Tyler.

Promoter Tom Moffatt announced late this afternoon that the classic rock band will be performing Sunday, Oct. 18 at the Blaisdell Arena and Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Maui War Memorial Stadium. - more on this story

Jack White Mocks Kanye West
MusicRadar reports: Kanye West's ears must be burning. Jack White mocked the rapper last Friday by bum-rushing the stage at the Toronto Film Festival as the director of a White Stripes documentary fielded questions from the audience.

Director Emmett Malloy, who helmed Under Great White Northern Lights, which chronicles The White Stripes' 2007 tour of Canada, was in the middle of a Q&A when White suddenly ran onstage from the wings and grabbed the mic from him.

"I'm gonna let you finish, I'm gonna let you finish," White said, mimicking West. "But..." (Well, rather than us finish his speech, why don't you just see it for yourself

Alice in Chains Open Up To Metallica
FMQB reports: Alice In Chains' highly anticipated new album, Black Gives Way To Blue, finally comes out on September 29. In anticipation of such a long-awaited release, all four band members sat down with none other than James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich of Metallica to discuss their new work for an FMQB radio special, dubbed Inside Alice In Chains: Black Gives Way To Blue.

The special is airing on radio stations nationwide between September 25 and 29, and the group talked very openly about moving on after the death of Layne Staley, writing songs with new singer William DuVall, and having Elton John play on the title track.

When asked by Hetfield what the album title means to the band, guitarist Jerry Cantrell explained that the title track is a song about Staley. "It's a really intense song and a really open-hearted song because of Layne and the experience that we all went through," he said. "It's [about] facing up to that stuff and all the good and all the bad and moving forward together. It speaks to [the fact that] things were pretty black for us. It's pretty literal, and things are starting to get a little lighter."

Missing Guitarist Turns Up
antiMusic reports: Surprise, surprise. Five Finger Death Punch's guitarist, Zoltan Bathory, has turned up. The band put out a statement on Sunday asking fans to help located the guitarist who went "missing" days before they were to kick off a tour.

Now that tour will kick off tomorrow as planned with all of the added publicity of the disappearance to help promote it. Pretty amazing timing in that. But the band should check his Myspace page for a login the next time he "disappears" so they need not worry.

The band issued this statement on Monday: "We just talked to him and although he sounded somewhat incoherent he says he'll be fine and the tour will start as planned tomorrow!! Sorry if he worried anyone! 5FDP"

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis Release New CD Today
Mute reports: Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have been creating music together for more than fifteen years, with The Bad Seeds, Grinderman and The Dirty Three. More recently, they have collaborated on soundtracks for such films as The Proposition (2005) and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007). White Lunar, a two CD set to be released by Mute on September 22, 2009 in physical format only, contains music they composed from the aforementioned films, along with a selection of their cinematic scores, including rare and previously unavailable material.

Cave and Ellis' first soundtrack together was Australian director John Hillcoat's 2005 quasi-Western, The Proposition (for which Cave also wrote the screenplay). The following year, the pair received a commission to compose the music for a film by another Australian director, Andrew Dominik's The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. By the time Dominik's film came out, Hillcoat had begun his adaptation of The Road (Cormac McCarthy's novel of a father and son's trek across a vast wasteland in the aftermath of global catastrophe); once again Cave and Ellis were invited to create music for the film. With The Road as yet unreleased, this album offers a rare opportunity for a sneak preview of the soundtrack.

All three movies, with their epic landscapes and acutely incised psychology, find a correlative sweep and depth in the scores that Cave and Ellis have devised for them, and a poignancy that imbues the films with a timeless aura; the music from this triumvirate is on Disc 1 of the 2 CD set. In addition to these large-scale efforts, Cave and Ellis have also contributed a resonant musical dimension to a pair of lesser known, but striking documentaries, represented on Disc 2. - more on this story

Divine Heresy Announce Tour With Moonspell
PR reports: Divine Heresy kicks off the album touring cycle Oct. 14th on a massive North American fall tour as direct support to Moonspell.

Divine Heresy's pummeling new offering, Bringer of Plagues, redefines the meaning of aggression and takes extreme to an all new level. The unrelenting new offering was released last week to rave reviews across the board and debuted at an impressive #148 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. This album is hailed as the most brutal and unrelenting offering of the legendary Dino Cazares' stellar career. Newcomer Travis Neal (ex-The Bereaved) has undoubtedly proven that he is the perfect fit for the role as he delivers a debut performance for the ages.

Cazares further states: "We have been waiting patiently for the perfect touring opportunity to present itself and we couldn't possibly be more pleased to be direct support to the mighty Moonspell this fall. This North American tour is exactly what we were looking for as we wanted a chance to perform in front of a lot of new faces that might not have been exposed to our band. This tour marks the kickoff of a massive worldwide touring campaign to support the new Bringer of Plagues album. DIVINE HERESY is better than ever and we are embarking on this tour with only one, simple goal in mind: to annihilate everything in our path. Expect an unrelenting set and if your jaw isn't on the floor when we finish, then we haven't done our job, but that won't be the case. Be sure to come by the merch booth each night to say hello to us all and we look forward to seeing everyone soon. It's certainly been way too long." - more on this story

Echo & The Hatcham Social Tour
PR reports: After a handful of east coast dates earlier this summer, Hatcham Social announces their first full-fledged US tour, with fellow Englishmen Echo & The Bunnymen.

The band is touring in support of their debut album You Dig The Tunnel, I'll Hide The Soil which was released on tbd records (home of Radiohead) and produced by Charlatans lead singer Tim Burgess.

Hatcham Social has drawn critical praise from Paste Magazine, who compared them to The Smiths as well as their soon-to-be-tour mates. The magazine calls the band's debut "an old-fashioned post-punk record that echoes the classic British bands of yore."
