Rolling Stones Deny Split
antiMusic reports: An unnamed source has struck again! Music Radar has the rundown: Charlie Watts Quits The Rolling Stones. That was the shocking headline on the Australian music website Undercover.com.

News of which sent chills throughout the music community. Coming on the heels of Noel Gallagher's decesion to split Oasis, the thought that Charlie Watts would leave the Stones just shy of their 50th anniversary seemed almost too much to bear.

And as it turns out, it isn't. MusicRadar contacted the office of The Rolling Stones' spokesperson, Fran Curtis, who issued the following statement: "Contrary to a fabricated story that ran this morning, Charlie Watts has not left The Rolling Stones.'' - more on this story

Metallica Is for Monkeys
Rock Radio reports: It's official: Metallica is monkey music. That's the conclusion reached by a group of scientists who set out to discover how human music came into existence. And while the cotton-top tamarins ignored tracks by Nine Inch Nails and Tool, they responded positively to Metallica's 1991 Black Album track Of Wolf and Man.

The tamarin experiment involved playing different types of music to see if monkeys respond to music, or if only humans do. They played a variety of 30-second clips including music experts had devised from monkey sounds.

While they reacted to the monkey music, the only human music they paid attention to was Metallica's – and it made them calm and relaxed rather than the response straight-laced lab geeks expected. - beer good! Napster bad! read more here

Grant Hart of Husker Du Announces New Solo Album
MVD reports: Con D'or Records and MVD Audio are proud to announce the release of Grant Hart Hot Wax on both CD and vinyl for worldwide distribution on October 6th, 2009.

'80s alternative rock has gone down in the history of music as one of the most fertile and influential musical movements ever - as judged by the amount of notable bands that would subsequently "follow the leaders." And one of the leading lights of the movement was unquestionably Hüsker Dü. After the group's split, drummer Grant Hart moved out front with guitar in hand, and also handled lead vocals on his solo releases. But Hart has spent the last few years working on Hot Wax.

Joining Hart on the disc is a diverse cast of musicians from Godspeed You Black Emperor, Silver Mt. Zion, and Rank Strangers with the tracks being recorded in both Montreal and Minneapolis. Hart explains: "The song 'Narcissus, Narcissus' is my first attempt at combining ancient Greek mythology and American rock-a-billy. By merging those influences with an ice cream truck atmosphere I think I have found a style that defines this period of my career. 'You're the Reflection of the Moon on the Water' is one of the most organic rock and roll songs that I have ever written. It's style owes a lot to my devotion for Patti Smith. It was inspired by a comment made by a monk during the selection process to find the next Panchen Lhama, who said of one candidate, 'He is the reflection of the moon on the water but he is not the moon'."

Rammstein Set Pussy Release
PR reports: Rammstein will release "Pussy," with B-side "Rammlied," on Sept. 22 as the first single from their forthcoming album on Oct.20.

The single, available exclusively via iTunes, is the first new music to come from the Berlin-based band in over four years. Having sold three million albums in the U.S. alone (and over 14 million worldwide), anticipation for the new album, whose title has been a closely guarded secret, is high with rumors running rampant worldwide as to the theme and contents of the new release. The album will be released in the U.S. via Universal Music Germany through a marketing and distribution deal with Vagrant Records on Oct. 20.

A post on from the band's website this morning heralded the news of the first available music via the "Pussy" single: "Carried by a gigantic wave of testosterone, Rammstein unsheathes its sword and presents what makes man an animal. So start your engines. With pedal to the metal on the Autobahn of German clichés, where homage is paid to the hand-to-hand battle between the sexes with words like Bratwurst, Blitzkrieg, and Mercedes-Benz … to destinations abroad, past Heidi with her burgers and away from the German Fräuleinwunder." An accompanying video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund,; premiere information coming soon.
