PR reports: Blues guitarist and singer Sean Chambers has announced an October 20 release date for his latest CD, Ten Til Midnight, on the Blue Heat Records label, to be nationally distributed by Burnside Distribution. The new disc is the third CD from the Tampa-based Chambers, and showcases the powerful style which earned him critical plaudits from a host of magazines, including Europe's Guitarist Magazine, which listed Sean as "one of the Top 50 Blues Guitarists of the last century;" and Total Guitar Magazine, which called his 1998 debut CD, Strong Temptation, "The most impressive blues debut since Stevie Ray Vaughan's Texas Flood." Sean's talents as a guitarist were recognized early-on by a host of blues stars and legends, such as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and Robert Cray, who all employed Chambers as their opening act on numerous shows in Florida. Earlier this decade, he got the call from another iconic blues guitarist, Hubert Sumlin, whose own work with the great Howlin' Wolf was one of the trademarks of the Wolf's sound; and Chambers signed on as Sumlin's musical director and guitarist. During a period of five years, he toured all over the world backing Hubert at festivals and clubs throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan and Canada. "I consider my time with Hubert Sumlin as my college education. I learned so much from Hubert," says Chambers.

PR reports: The Laurie Morvan Band, who've taken the blues world by storm in the past two years, announce an October 20 release date for the group's hottest CD yet, Fire It Up!, on Screaming Lizard Records, distributed nationally by Burnside Distribution.Led by Laurie Morvan on guitar and lead vocals, the band has had an impressive surge of popularity around the world after the release of the group's 2007 album, Cure What Ails Ya, which included not only fantastic reviews of the disc, but also extensive national touring and additional acclaim as a finalist in the International Blues Challenge and finalist in the Blues Foundation's Best Self-Produced CD competition, both held in Memphis, Tennessee in 2008 (the ONLY band to do so). On her fourth CD, Laurie went to an outside producer for the first time, bringing in Steve Savage, who's worked with Elvin Bishop and Robert Cray, among others. Laurie wrote all 12 songs on Fire It Up!, which showcases an even stronger development in her songwriting ability, guitar work and overall performances than her critically-acclaimed previous album. The new album is also a more blues-focused release, with Laurie bringing to the songs her perspectives of the challenges she's faced as a female blues guitarist. Songs such as "Lay Your Hands," "Livin' in a Man's World," Let Me Carry Your Troubles," "Come on Over to My BBQ" and "Café Boogaloo" are bound to be instant favorites with the media and fans alike.

PR reports: Despite having just formed in 2008, The New Enemy has already achieved great success on multiple fronts. They've toured Canada and the United States, received glowing reviews, international radio play, compilation CD appearances, and toured with heavyweights including Agnostic Front, Madball, SNFU, and Black Lungs. Now add to the mix the release of their latest effort titled Shakedown EP, the Toronto-based band is setting the stage for local leverage and national notoriety. Building on the sound from their first release, Shakedown EP was produced by Simon Head (SNFU, Closet Monster) mastered by Nick Zampiello (Against Me!, Converge), and features artwork by acclaimed French artist Dominique Sinibaldi. Featuring Clint McLean (vocals), Luke Muldoon (guitar, vocals), Declan Kerin (bass), and Chris Branston (drums), Shakedown EP is a true testament to punk rock.

MMP reports: Metal Mind Productions presents re-releases of two Therapy's album "High Anxiety" and "Never Apologize Never Explain". Both albums will be re-released in a new digipak edition each limited to 1000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process, released on a golden disc. The release date is scheduled for 2nd November. "High Anxiety" (2003) The first album released for their new label Spitfire Records. The LP brought the long-awaited return to the style known from the acclaimed "Troublegum" album from 1994. Filled with joyful punk'n'roll, "High Anxiety" featured a number of great songs such as the ironic opener "Hey Satan, You Rock", the pop-punk tune "My Voodoo Doll" or the hard rocking single "If It Kills Me". The title of the album was inspired by a 1977 comedy of the same name, written and directed by Mel Brooks. Gaining huge acclaim from both critics and fans, "High Anxiety" easily became one of the band's most successful albums in their discography. "Never Apologize Never Explain" (2004) With their line-up again slimmed down to just three members, the band released their tenth LP on September 27th, 2004. The album was a return to the claustrophobic style of Therapy?'s first two LPs, back from when they weren't signed to a major label. The angry and absolutely un-commercial nature of "Never Apologise Never Explain" divided the fans into two groups, one praising the band's bold approach towards their music and the second complaining about not getting another straight-forward rock album. The LP was nevertheless considered quite successful, thanks to the shining singles "Rise Up" and "Rock You Monkeys".

The Resistance is a well played and memorably melodic recording. Its enjoyable to listen to, from start to finish. However, its only after closer inspection that this recordings flaws begin to show through. Ultimately, its a lot of sound and fury, not signifying a whole heck of a lot. (2 stars)
