Fired Anthrax Singer Moves On
Rock Radio reports: Dan Nelson says he's moved on after being sacked by Anthrax, but he believes fans would have enjoyed Worship Music, the album he recorded with the band before his departure.

Nelson, formerly with Devilsize, was dramatically thrown out in July while on the road, after rumours circulated of "chemistry problems" inside the organisation. With almost no warning Anthrax announced the cancellation of their European tour due to Nelson being ill. However, the dismissed singer immediately reported he was in perfect health, although he'd suspected for a few days something was brewing.

Fans who saw the band with Nelson were positive about his performance and most of the band had been enthusing about Worship Music ahead of its release. But the album launch was also cancelled before the band reunited with former frontman John Bush for a sensational show at Sonisphere in August. Bush himself had been elbowed out in 2005 when Anthrax decided to reunite with Joey Belladonna for a retrospective tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their most successful commercial era. Bush had said he wouldn't return after his treatment, leading to the recruitment of Nelson when Belladonna quit – but all changed with Bush's triumphant return. - more on this story

Das Monster aus dem Schrank is We Butter The Bread With Butter's interpretation of well-known children's folk songs with a perverse metal twist. The album's highly energetic beats, modern-electro melodies, and death-core vocals align to create a sound uniquely known as Electro-Death Metal.

"It's like a very, very hard and chaotic children's birthday," explains the duo Tobias Schultka and Marcel Neumann to Noisecreep.com. "[When people see us live, they're] like, 'what the f---? Are there just two guys playing? They never can do it.' But after a few seconds, the party is on fire." - more on this story

Toto Set Blu-Ray Release
Kayos reports: On October 20, Toto Falling In Between Live will be given the Blu-ray treatment via Eagle Rock Entertainment's Eagle Vision subsidiary [pre-book order date September 30, MSRP $24.98].

Originally released on standard DVD in April 2008 (ERE), Falling In Between Live is an absolutely electric set, complete with bonus interview footage. Filmed at Paris' Le Zenith in March 2007, Toto performed their best-loved tunes for the sold out audience. With over thirty years worth of hit-making pop rock, they've enjoyed a wealth of success through the 80s and 90s, which they were only too happy to celebrate with the French crowd. It's tracks like "Hold The Line," "Africa," "I'll Be Over You," and their multi-Grammy winning worldwide hit "Rosanna" that has put these once highly-demanded session musicians on the map as a collective unit.

Eagle Rock Entertainment continues to pioneer the concert DVD experience via Blu-ray. Recently released from the label are high-def titles by Rick Wakeman, John Mayall, Jamiroquai, Jason Aldean, Kenny G, Jeff Beck, and many others.

The Laughing Catching Fever This Month
PR reports: Recorded over the course of a near year, Fever is the debut album by Austin band, The Laughing, hits stores October 27, 2009. With an aural aesthetic pulling from somewhere between early Roxy Music and the stretches of contemporaries such as Animal Collective, The Laughing has quickly attracted the attention of audiences looking for a little dance in their rock as well as a little art in their pop.

Though grounded in a traditional rock line up of guitar/vocals (Logan Middleton), bass (Sean Neesely), drums (Grant Van Amburgh), and organ (performed on FEVER by Austin Jenkins and Middleton), The Laughing also utilizes a vast array of percussion, bells, dulcimers, ukuleles, synths, clarinets, flutes, blankets of noise and lush harmonies. Varied instrumentation and ornamental arrangements adorn core song structures and melodies that take cues from the likes of Harry Nilsson, Os Mutantes, Jorge Bem, Silver Apples, Love, Roxy Music, Sonic Youth, 13th Floor Elevators and more.

Borrowing from some of the production tactics of classic dub recordings, with a small dose of noise rock, The Laughing has constructed an album of songs that bears only slight resemblance to its broad spectrum of influences, in turn creating something special and unique. Of the album title, band leader Logan Middleton explains, "'Fever' was the title of a book I discovered as a child that had extensive accounts of my now deceased grandfather's work as a missionary doctor in West Africa and his discovery and treatment of highly fatal disease known as Lassa Fever."
