PR reports: Due to the fire that took place at the Georgia Theatre on Friday June 19, the shows that were scheduled at the venue for this year's AthFest have been moved to the historic Morton Theatre just around the corner on Washington Street in downtown Athens, GA.

The Georgia Theatre was one of 17 music venues participating in the highly acclaimed annual music and arts festival. All the bands that were scheduled to perform at the Georgia Theatre will perform on the same scheduled evening. The line-up and set times may be found at: www.athfest.com.

AthFest staff will be monitoring weather conditions using internet weather forecasting sites to make decisions about the safety of performers and the public in the outdoor stage areas. Wheat Set Release
PR reports: Wheat is proud to bring their new album, White Ink, Black Ink to the masses on July 21st (The Rebel Group). "White Ink, Black Ink was the quickest, most fun record we've ever made," says Brendan Harney (drums, keys). "We wanted to focus on keeping the simple human sentiment as pure as possible."

Wheat first entered the scene with their 1998 debut, Medeiros, produced by Brian Deck (pre-Modest Mouse and Iron & Wine). The follow up, Hope and Adams, secured the band's place in indie rock history with its "melodic poise and impressive ache" (so says a little magazine called Rolling Stone). The expansive Dave Friddman (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev) produced album made numerous year-end lists and remains heralded by the underground scene.

In 2003, Wheat released Per Second, Per Second, Per Second...Every Second on Aware/Columbia. The album's single, "I Met A Girl," was a minor radio hit and Wheat toured more than ever before, but the album failed to connect enough to keep both Columbia and the band's interest. Three years later, after a short period of reflection, they quietly released Everyday I Said a Prayer for Kathy and Made a One Inch Square (2006). The duo avoided the spotlight for the past few years, save with the limited edition re-issue of their first two classic records, Medeiros and Hope and Adams earlier this year. The re-issues peaked interest from fans both old and new - an audience hungry for more from the group.

Ellsbeth was formed in 2005 with a goal to set the world of music on fire. After numerous lineup changes, the band is ready to fulfill this dream. The five musicians that make up the female fronted band have gathered from all across the US to bring music that is true and sincere to the masses. With lyrics that are drawn from the "ironic tragedy that is the inner, day-to-day workings of a very human life and the relationships that bind them together," Ellsbeth creates music that people can relate to.

Ellsbeth plans to support the new album with a nationwide, headlining, summer tour that will kick off in late July. The band is still finalizing the dates, which will be released in the coming weeks. - more on this story

Oceana Call It A Day
Lambgoat reports: Floridian post-hardcore/rock band Oceana has broken up. Formed in 2007, the group has put out two releases with Rise Records. The band explains:

"This breakup has nothing to do with any one member. We're all best friends and we all sat down and talked this through. It's not that we are not happy with the response from the new album. We knew the change would be a bit rocky and our kind of music isn't exactly what's popular right now.

"A lot of kids would rather listen to songs riddled with breakdowns and over auto-tuned vocals. That is exactly why we appreciate our fans so much, you guys aren't just going with the trend. We all decided that our hearts were in different places at this time in our lives. We're all young and we guarantee this won't be the last you hear of us. Maybe you'll get five new bands out of the deal." - more on this story
