antiMusic reports: Zakk Wylde was asked during in an interview with Oregon's rock station 101.5 KFLY about his status with Ozzy Osbourne and he gave the host an earful!Wylde told 101.5 KFLY's Standard Ass Rock Show with Carl: "The boss (Ozzy) hasn't even given me a phone call, so I mean
I'm just like
I don't know what's going on over there.... We're working on the new record, we'll be back in September, we'll work on finishing the record. And then we're supposed to do the tour. I mean, it's like, dude, you don't wanna play with me anymore? Fine. Play with whoever the hell you wanna play with. I couldn't give a rat's ass. Like I'm gonna get all jealous or whatever. But you know what?! Man up and give me a phone call and tell me what the hell's going on. You finished with me? Cool. "I mean, it's just like
Everything's sounding like Black Label? [Referring to Ozzy's claim in a recent interview that his solo albums were beginning to sound like Black Label Society due to Wylde's involvement with both projects] "I guess everything sounded like Black Label when I first started with you, when I was 19. It was still the same guy; I don't know what you're talking about." The Metal Den picked up this choice quote from the interview "Where I come from, the bottom line is
shit like this that goes down, I swear to Christ we snap muthaf**kers necks and we beat the living f**k out of people. It ain't cool!" KFLY is set to air the entire interview with Zakk air this Sunday. You can stream it live and preview the interview including a profanity filled rant against Ozzy here

Blabbermouth reports: Dope frontman Edsel Dope has released the following statement regarding the band's non-participation in the "Pedal To The Metal Tour" alongside Mudvayne, Black Label Society and Static-X:"We were specifically asked not to make any announcements about our departure from the 'Pedal To The Metal Tour' 'till after the tour got under way. We apologize to everyone that was hoping to catch us on the tour. "Unfortunately, it was a simple matter of economics. There are so many well-known bands on the tour that there just wasn't enough money to go around. I'm not talking about money to get rich or buy rock star bullshit that we don't need, I'm just talking about enough money to cover the normal, basic, costs to do the tour and to cover our basic bills back home while we are away. Unfortunately, it just wasn't there for us...

Billboard reports: A music publisher that has accused Australian band Men at Work of stealing the melody to their 1980s smash hit "Down Under" from a campfire song won the first stage of its lawsuit on Thursday (July 30) seeking royalties from the Aussie anthem.A federal judge ruled that publisher Larrikin Music owns the copyright to the tune of "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree" - a Girl Guide favorite from New Zealand to Canada. The judge's ruling clears the way for a further hearing about whether Men at Work is guilty of copyright infringement. Larrikin claims the distinctive flute riff in "Down Under" was copied from the refrain of "Kookaburra," a song about the native Australian bird written in 1934 by a teacher named Marion Sinclair for a Girl Guides competition. Sinclair died in 1988.

HER reports: The Fall of Troy, one of the hottest bands in the post hardcore genre, will tour this fall as direct support with Thursday, playing twenty-nine shows over a five-week period. The tour kicks off September 18 in Philadelphia, PA and will criss-cross the U.S., wrapping up in Raleigh, NC on October 24 (full itinerary below). The Fall of Troy - guitarist/vocalist Thomas Erak, drummer Andrew Forsman, and bassist Frank Ene - are touring in support of their upcoming album, In the Unlikely Event, due out October 6. The album was produced by Terry Date (Deftones, Slipknot, Smashing Pumpkins) and recorded in Seattle earlier this year. In The Unlikely Event is Ene's first album with the band, and they are expected to debut new material on these dates. Live in concert, The Fall of Troy has become known for its blazing and relentless, full-on interactive set; one major Southern California daily called one of their shows "the best performance I've ever seen at this venue." As with the band's previous albums, the new music on In the Unlikely Event remains unpredictable and notoriously hard to pigeonhole. From jaw-droppingly technical rock anthems like "Battleship Graveyard" and blazing punk tracks like "Straight-Jacket Keelhauled," to mathematical melodic rockers such as "A Classic Case of Transference" and the laid-back love song "Nobody's Perfect," In The Unlikely Event is an album that will satisfy long-time fans of the band - but in typical The Fall of Troy fashion, continue to challenge them as well.

antiMusic reports: Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Hugh Morretta from The National Rifle tells us about "It's Just Whiskey, Mama" from their brand new EP "Man Full of Trouble". We now turn it over to Hugh for the story:"It's Just Whiskey, Mama" is one I like because of the super emotional vocals ... although it might seem a little emo, which is not cool. Haha. But it also has a weird euro trash sound because of the keys, and that rocks. It started out with this open guitar thing played with a capo on the verse along with the chorus chords. Just a piece of something, which is how everything starts and usually ends up completely different like in this song. The weird verse drums were inspired by a pulsing kraut rock sort of Faust thing and the chorus was a drum part from an old song that we retired. Usually I'd do the bass next, but I found this really distorted club bass sound on the keyboard that I fell in love with and added that to what we had and used it to make a bridge. The bass was a pain in the ass because we technically had a bass part already with the keyboards, so after thinking about it for a week I had Jeremiah (bass) just fuck around and do some floor tom accents and distorted noise stuff on the verses. The chorus bass was just a rhythm thing I felt when listening to the song demo. The vocals were also just put together from singing with the demo and the lyrics are really, really personal. It's obviously about a relationship that went bad, which inspired a lot of songs on the EP, but I wanted to do this one from the other person's perspective. At first it was sympathizing with her, but I think it turned out a little mocking. It sucks, but I think it's a reflection of my changing perspective on the situation. Add some lead stuff which I put together before recording and some help from Buddy (drums) in doing some verse backing vocal parts, and that's it. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album
