Sonisphere festival reports: Machine Head guitarist Phil Demmel is fine after dramatically collapsing on stage during the finale (of the Sonisphere festival in Pori, Finland) to an electric-stomping set that had the crowd so pumped up they were running at each other in a 'wall of death' and charging around in manic circles.Although he had to be helped off stage, he exclusively told Team Sonisphere that he is now feeling okay. "Basically I want to apologies to all the fans for cheating them of their last song," he said. After breaking the news on Twitter, Team Sonisphere was inundated with messages from worried fans.

antiMusic reports: Spin was on hand to document the kick off of Blink-182's profanity filled U.S. tour. Here is part of their write-up: Blink-182's tour kick-off Thursday night at Las Vegas' the Joint venue was the kind of show that doubled as one prolonged rim shot, a tongue-in-(butt)-cheek time warp back to junior high, starring a band that has long served as the itching powder in pop rock's jock strap. After sets from openers Valencia and Motion City Soundtrack, who played songs off their excellent 2007 release, Even if It Kills Me (Weezer, Fall Out Boy and others will join the tour later), Blink singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge walked onstage and spit the first words to a sold-out crowd: "Motherf**ker, f**k, sh*t, cocks**ker." That's it, just a random string of profanities that served as a potty-mouthed precursor for what was to come over the next 90 minutes or so. "Good point," singer/bassist Mark Hoppus chimed in, playing the eye-rolling straight guy to the fount of snark that is his bandmate.

PR reports: For the first time ever, Phish will combine two of its most cherished traditions - the Phish festival and the band's Halloween event - in a massive three-day celebration. Christened Festival 8, it will take place October 30th, 31st and November 1st at The Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA. Festival 8 marks several additional firsts: it is Phish's first three-day festival, its first held on the West Coast and it will be the first time that a single band has played consecutive dates at the venue. "We are pleased to support this event," said Glenn Southard, Indio City Manager. "It will bring thousands of visitors to the City of Indio and to the Coachella Valley and will provide a much-needed boost to our local economy. We look forward to a great event!"

Blabbermouth reports: David "Gus" Griesinger of BackstageAxxess.com recently conducted an interview with Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne). When asked about the recent reports that Ozzy was auditioning other guitarists for his solo band, Zakk said, "Everything's cool, man. I mean, Ozzy's always jammed with other people since we did 'Down To Earth' and all that other stuff. So it's no big deal. If Ozzy's gonna play with someone else, what am I gonna do anyways? "At the end of the day, when we did the 'Down To Earth' record, Oz had other people coming in and writing with him. [I was like], 'Boss, knock yourself out,' you know what I mean?! What we're supposed to do is there's this date in August August 20, I guess, down in Anaheim [at the BlizzCon convention] and then after that, we're supposed to finish the [new Ozzy] record up in September or something like that. We did 16 or 18 songs or something like that, so we'll write some more, finish the record, and then we're supposed to do like a year[-long] world tour."

Reuters reports: Can WalMart work its magic for yet another '70s rock act? The retail giant's exclusive September 29 release of Foreigner's "Can't Slow Down" will be its first major exclusive since AC/DC's "Black Ice" in October. The album (Foreigner's first since 1995's "Mr. Moonlight") has much in common with Journey's 2008 Wal-Mart-only release, "Revelation." Like its predecessor, "Can't Slow Down" will be a three-disc set that features a CD of new material, a concert DVD and a best-of collection. But whereas "Revelation" included a CD of rerecorded Journey favorites, Foreigner remixed the band's original master recordings to make its hits sound more contemporary. Perhaps most noticeable to longtime fans of both bands, each release features a replacement lead singer -- in Foreigner's case, Kelly Hansen, who takes the place of original frontman Lou Gramm.

PR reports: Mnemic updates fans with this news: We apologize for the lack of news. We have been really bad with updates, but we can assure you it will change as we are taking the very first steps towards a new Mnemic album. There has maybe been some speculations regarding our last show, which featured an unknown guitarist handling the duties as a stand-in for our very own Rune Stigart. To clarify the situation, Rune had to undergo surgery for an old wrist injury, in which the doctor advised not to perform over a specific period of time. The band had already been booked in advance to headline the Sardinias Heavy Sands festival, which was impossible to postpone. The band's and Rune's decision was to carry on with a stand-in guitarist. His name is Victor Ray Salomonsen. Some of you might recognize his mom, Sanne Salomonsen, the great and famous Danish rock mama.

antiMusic reports: Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today we go indie with Pennan Brae who tells us about "Something's Missing" from the brand new album "Shaded Joy". Here is the story:I finished writing the songs for my debut CD, 'Shaded Joy' last fall and headed into the studio. I recorded on a small island in Canada, which is actually a province, Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.). I hooked up with some fantastic musicians; there's a lot of talent on that Island. We recorded the music in a restored 19th Century farmhouse, with views of the Atlantic. The air was fresh, the leaves were changing colour & you could taste winter in the air; a nice time of year. I wrote 'Something's Missing' when I moved from the East to West Coast of Canada. I was feeling a bit down at the time & wasn't with a girlfriend or anything. I recall seeing lots of other guys with their girlfriends & I think just the sight of that provided motivation, inspiration
due to my frustration! I'm happy with the recording of it; Nat on drums is a very creative drummer. He doesn't just keep the beat, but changes things up which adds to the songwriting process. Remi, handling the bass, is as good as they come. He's played across North America & Europe; he's the most talented bass player I've had the opportunity to play with. Last but not least, Phil on guitar is a real gem; he comes up with parts out of left field, which is great; he doesn't remind me of anyone I've heard before & that to me is a nice quality to have. As for myself, I had fun laying down the keyboard & vocals. If curious, the name 'Pennan Brae' is named after a small Scottish village, Pennan, along the North Sea. My grandfather was born there and I've had a chance to visit twice. I always have a special affinity for Scotland in my heart and the band's name is in its honour.. Cheers & thanks for listening, Rob of Pennan Brae. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album
