'Midnight Souvenirs' (Verve/UMe, April 6, 2010) Peter Wolf's seventh solo album, is a continuation of the singer-songwriter's distinctive and eclectic tales that brighten and interpret a world gone noir. Following in the tracks of Wolf's Sleepless, which was honored by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the '500 greatest albums of all-time,' the new collection gives hope to the love-wounded and promises 'there's still time for the midnight wine," even if "sometimes you heal, sometimes you're scarred." Featuring duets with country legend and national treasure Merle Haggard, the soulfully transcending and dynamic Grammy award winner Shelby Lynne and the haunting and majestic voice of Neko Case, 'Midnight Souvenirs' integrates and embraces rock, R & B, blues, folk and country in a way that has distinguished Wolf's storied career. Measurable are his decades as the leader and frenzied focal figure of the J. Geils Band, with whom he showcased his talents on such hits as "Centerfold," "Freeze Frame," "Love Stinks" and "Musta Got Lost." Wolf's musical roots precede rock and roll, and are personally entwined with friendships and performers such as the late Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Aretha Franklin and Van Morrison. His talents have continued into the music of tomorrow with tours and on-stage antics with the Rolling Stones, U2, Kid Rock, and Bruce Springsteen.

As first announced over the weekend on Weezer's A.P.E. Radio station "Radio Weezer," fans and fellow musicians can now visit Indaba Music, the top destination for online music creation, to work with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo. The singer-songwriter's solo recording session was announced during an on-air health update given by his long-time friend, webmaster and band historian Karl Koch..Says Cuomo, "I wrote this tune, 'Shusui.' Now I want to write the lyrics. Before I do that, I'd like somebody to produce a better demo of the music. I'll pay you $208." Cuomo began recording "Shusui" before his recent tour bus crash, which left him with Rivers cracked ribs and internal bleeding. Now, according to Radio Weezer, Cuomo is in better condition; and with ample downtime off of the postponed Weezer tour, he's looking for the right candidate to help him produce the song into a better-quality demo form before finishing the tune's lyrics. This marks an incredible opportunity for enterprising musicians to collaborate with one of rock's biggest names, and a chance to win "the princely sum of $208." Cuomo's recording session and details are available

Nick Oliveri has taken his "Death Acoustic" tour to Australia, New Zealand and Europe, now he is heading home with a run of solo shows across the United States east coast during January / February and west coast dates set to follow shortly after. You may know Nick as the long haired bass player on the early Kyuss albums or as the mysterious Rex Everything in The Dwarves. Others will know him as one of the creative partners behind Queens Of The Stone Age and more recently the screaming front man of Mondo Generator. He is a man that should need no introduction to rock fans across the world. Starting his musical career as a teenager with some friends from Palm Desert, California, Oliveri played bass and wrote a number of songs on the first two albums of desert rock pioneers Kyuss. The band would go on to establish them as a cult band worldwide and ensure high interest in all the members' future projects.

2009 wasnt a great year for albums. I didnt award a single album I heard all year four-stars. Considering I had a five-star and a few albums that earned 4.5 stars in 2008, this is a bit of a letdown. Despite this, Id be lying to you if there werent a number of great albums that I heard this year
