antiMusic reports: Aerosmith guitarist Joe Petty took to the airwaves on Providence, Rhode Island radio station WHJY Thursday and during the discussion he addressed the rumors that the band was planning to break up.Regarding the rumors that Aerosmith was breaking up following the cancellation of the group's U.S. tour with ZZ TOP, Perry stated, "The band is on hiatus. I think that for the last couple of tours, Steven's [Tyler, vocals] been through a bunch of different physical things. He's always felt like we've gone out a little bit too early every time and that kind of thing... I really don't know for sure. We just want him to get completely healthy — from head to toe, whatever ailment it is — and then we'll talk about getting back together. "So the band is by no means breaking up; we are just taking some time off. And we're gonna take a good bit of time off so that everybody can re-evaluate our original mandate, which was to go out there and entertain the fans, put the fans [at] number one — which I always do, and I constantly will, with the [Joe Perry] Project — but with Aerosmith, we're all there on that. And make a great studio record and go out and get on the road and tour until we're finished."

Salt Lake Tribune reports: In a display of pyrotechnics likely not on the concert plan, a 28-year-old Logan [Utah] man was arrested after police said he started a field fire outside the Usana Amphitheater during the Def Leppard show Tuesday. The man had been kicked out of the concert venue at 5150 S. 6055 West because he was intoxicated and spilling beer on other patrons, said West Valley City police Sgt. Tom McLachlan. He snuck back in but was caught and put in a taxi to go home. Then he came back a second time. Instead of trying to re-enter the show, however, he went to a field just west of the amphitheater and started a fire, McLachlan said. The firetruck could not immediately reach the flames because the concertgoers were leaving, according to a jail booking statement, and the fire burned a 30 foot by 50 foot patch before it was extinguished.

PR reports: Throughout his long career, Chris Cornell's incomparable sound and instinct for innovation have conquered new territory and attracted widespread acclaim. On November 1, 2009, he hits another high when Cornell and Virgin America launch a unique partnership between an artist and a commercial airline. This will include in-flight programming, radio contests, performances and more. Starting in October and running through the holidays, the entire Virgin American Airline fleet will feature Chris Cornell on all in-flight programming. His latest LP, Scream, has been added to the airline's music library and will be a part of a collection that plays during boarding. Beginning in November, passengers will also be able to select various Chris Cornell music videos and albums throughout their flight. [Guess they have to get people to listen to that album somehow]

Blabbermouth reports: Dan Robson of TheStar.com reports that KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley was a little more understanding than his bandmate Gene Simmons about the media's role in spoiling [what they now claim was a] surprise the band had in store for Oshawa — the Canadian city that had won an online voting competition to determine whose hometown would be included in the group's "Kiss Alive 35" tour."You may hear a slightly different story from Gene, but so be it," Stanley said. "The media was carrying the dissent and upset feeling of the fans. They weren't creating anything, they were reporting it. Don't blame the messenger." [Paul was speaking of Gene's insult of the press and the fans when he issued his lame attempt at an excuse story here] Stanley said Oshawa was actually going to be on next leg of the tour, which hadn't been announced yet. The outcry from Oshawa's KISS fans compelled the band to make a change and play there sooner. "October 7 was not originally deemed the day we were playing Oshawa," Stanley said. But "to sooth everybody's hurt feelings and concerns" KISS decided to launch their new album in the KISS-loving city.

Here is the info on the sex which hits stores on November 10th. The latest addition to the band's acclaimed series of archival concert releases, this 6-disc collection contains all four of The Doors' performances - in their entirety - recorded in 1970 at the Felt Forum in New York City. Recorded just a few weeks before the release of Morrison Hotel - these concerts find Jim Morrison, John Densmore, Robby Krieger, and Ray Manzarek locked in tight as they deliver smoking takes on soon-to-be-classics from their forthcoming album, including "Roadhouse Blues," "Peace Frog," "Ship Of Fools," and "Maggie M'Gill." The shows also feature a number of driving blues covers, such as Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love," Howlin' Wolf's "Back Door Man," and John Lee Hooker's "Crawling King Snake." "Those were the bluesy songs we always used to do," Krieger says. "We probably hadn't done some of them in years, but we had resurrected them for these shows."

Blabbermouth reports: Sources close to Slipknot say that the official reason for drummer Joey Jordison's hospitalization over the weekend was a "burst appendix," although that has yet to be officially confirmed by either the band's record label or management. [If it was than why wouldn't they say anything?]The incident [was said to have] led the band to cancel the rest of its tour dates for August and September to give Jordison time to recover. At the moment a planned October trek is still on the group's schedule, although dates and cities have yet to be finalized. Slipknot bassist Paul Gray posted a message online in which he did not directly address the cause of Jordison's condition, but did mention that the band needed to deal with "personal issues." Gray wrote, "We are very sorry we had to cancel this leg of the tour. As you know touring is our life, getting in front of you guys and playing keeps this band alive. So it hurts us as much as you that we had to do this. There are personal issues in the band that need to be taken care of for us to continue touring. Let me emphasize Joey is not dead/dying, he is fine."

EarCandyBeat.com reports: Alice In Chains are back at it with new singer William Duvall and Wednesday they treated Seattle fans to a special invite-only acoustic performance at Experience Music Project followed by the debut of their new record Black Gives Way To Blue accompanied by a laser show at Pacific Science Center. Ear Candy didn't attend the show but reports have been trickling in from Twitter, Facebook and other outlets about the experience from members of the crowd of about 450 invited friends and radio station contest winners. Those who were there had their cell phones, cameras and video devices confiscated, but apparently after the short acoustic set Jerry Cantrell dragged the crowd to the nearby Pacific Science Center where fans were surprised with free beer. The band hung out and schmoozed with fans during a meet and greet and later gave them another surprise by playing all of Black Gives Way To Blue (on CD, not live) set to a customized laser show.

antiMusic reports: Rushisaband.com posted an item on Thursday about the new book Rush, Rock Music, and the Middle Class: Dreaming in Middletown. Here is a little bit about what it is all about: Canadian progressive rock band Rush was the voice of the suburban middle class. In this book, Chris McDonald assesses the band's impact on popular music and its legacy for legions of fans. McDonald explores the ways in which Rush's critique of suburban life -- and its strategies for escape -- reflected middle-class aspirations and anxieties, while its performances manifested the dialectic in prog rock between discipline and austerity, and the desire for spectacle and excess. The band's reception reflected the internal struggles of the middle class over cultural status. Critics cavalierly dismissed, or apologetically praised, Rush's music for its middlebrow leanings. McDonald's wide-ranging musical and cultural analysis sheds light on one of the most successful and enduring rock bands of the 1970s and 1980s. The book's publisher is the Indiana University Press and it will tentatively be released on October 28th.

antiMusic reports: Before you ask, yes it was a slow news day but here is part of a fun report from MTV: On Wednesday, a blog called Rock On: Altitude — which promotes a mobile media channel of the same name — published a piece with the headline "Is Hayley Williams of Paramore Pregnant" (no question mark necessary, apparently). In it, they write, "Just when the big headlining tour has been announced, now comes word from the rumor mill that ... Williams is actually pregnant!"The post fails to mention where these rumors were started (or being propagated, for that matter), but promises readers they'll keep them up to date on the situation, concluding with, "Stay tuned for details, and if this big tour suddenly gets 'postponed,' we'll know the real reason why." Somewhat understandably, the post irked Williams, who took to her Twitter account to address the report. "What is this, the 10th time?" she wrote, linking to the Rock On story. "Just call me 'Octomom.' "
- An hour later, in a second tweet, she poked fun at the rumor again

Punknews.org reports: Suburban Home Records is giving away Drag the River's live album, Live at the Starlight. The album was originally released in 2002 and later re-released by Suburban Home in 2005. Since then, it's been out of print. Virgil Dickerson of Suburban Home had this to say, "As some of you may or may not know, the CD version of 'Live at the Starlight" has been out of print for a while now. Whenever a release goes out of print, a handful of enterprising individuals take advantage of the inability to easily purchase the release and sell their own copy(ies) through sites like Ebay or Amazon for outrageous prices. "One such individual has 'Live at the Starlight' for sale for $80 on Ebay. You can't blame people for doing this, but Jon felt that if we gave the album for free, no one would feel the need to spend so much money on the CD."

antiMusic reports: Ravage had a bit of a problem getting into Canada. We'll let them tell you about it: There are a lot of rumors going around and confusion as to what happened with our Canadian tour, so here is the explanation. Suffice it to say, we made every effort we could to make it to the shows and we were very much looking forward to playing Canada for the first time, but despite our best efforts, we were denied entry due to the promoter not filing the correct paperwork. We were held up at the border for hours by no fault of our own, threatened with arrest if we tried to enter again without the proper documents, and we were unable to send any communication about what was going on. Furthermore, as a result of this, the planned shows in Toledo, the Chicago area, and St. Paul MN will have to be canceled or rescheduled (we are working on that and will update you all as soon as possible). At this point the tour is set to resume in Philadelphia PA at The Stabin Cabin on Sept 2nd.It looks like the Montreal show will be rescheduled for November 25th with a new promoter who should be able to take care of things properly. We apologize to anyone who was looking forward to seeing the band and to the promoters who did their jobs - we'll make it to your area ASAP. We hope to see you all there. Thanks to everyone who has come to the shows and has picked up a copy of the new album.
