Billboard reports: Radiohead fans got their first taste of new studio material Wednesday (August 5), when the group made available "Harry Patch (In Memory Of)" for download via its online store, Waste Merchandising. Unlike 'In Rainbows,' fans will have to pay for this track and won't be allowed to set a price: the five and a half minute digital file costs £1.00 or $1.70 for U.S. customers. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Royal British Legion. The song pays tribute to Harry Patch, the last known British World War I veteran who passed away on July 25.

antiMusic reports: If we go by Scott Ian's comments in an interview from the Kerrang! Awards podcast, it looks like an Anthrax reunion with John Bush is likely following their "one-off" reunion at the Sonisphere. At least the band that so easily let him go so they could reunite with an earlier singer, wants Bush back out front after they parting ways with latest singer Dan Nelson last month on the eve of a tour. When asked how the Sonisphere reunion with Bush went, Ian responded "It went better than I even hoped it would go. I'd been waiting four years for that moment that we had on Saturday to have John Bush back in the ranks, and it was an unbelievably, magnificently emotional hour of my life; it was really amazing." The interview goes on with that theme for a while until the inevitable question about a reunion came up. Ian responded, "It's obviously what we want, and I think this is just hopefully the first of a couple of steps to make it happen. The show went great — we all had a great time; John had a fucking blast — and hopefully this is now... the foot's in the door to make this happen again. But it's absolutely what we want to happen. I don't really see any other possibility." Life lesson: you don't know what you got until it's gone!

Blabbermouth reports: KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has responded to Nine Inch Nails mainman Trent Reznor's recent statement that he'd "never want to be Gene Simmons, an old man who puts on makeup to entertain kids, like a clown going to work."When asked about Reznor's comments by a fan in the "Letters From Fans" section of Simmons' web site, Gene replied, "No worries. Trent grew up on KISS and cut his teeth on our toons. When he was recording 'Downward Spiral', he had two action figures on his mix console — Jesus and Gene Simmons. "Once you're a self confessed heroin addict, who used the stuff for years, you don't look at life the way the rest of us do… I'm told. "We all wish him well."

PR reports: Our Lady Peace is back with Burn Burn, a record chalk-full of sing-alongs that you'll proudly project loudly in public spaces or secretly play on repeat through the privacy of your iPod headphones. OLP's live show is as good as it's ever been and was on display during recent sold-out shows in NYC and Los Angeles. A raucous performance in LA last week left the Troubadour none-too-pleased with the damage OLP incurred. Lead singer Raine Maida victoriously climbed up to walls to the second floor during "All You Did Was Save My Life," leaving a heap of destruction in his wake. More like "All You Did Was Break My Soundboard" as far as the Troubadour is concerned.

PR reports: When not playing in his full-time gig with Wilco, New Jersey native-via-Chicagoan-via-Brooklynite Mikael Jorgensen crafts pitch-perfect pop songs under the moniker of Pronto. "The Cheetah" is a collection of songs and musical experiments that were created between 2000 and 2004 by Mikael, Chris Girard and Greg O'Keeffe, with guests Rob Mazurek and Noel Kupersmith. "The Cheetah" will be released digitally September 8th on Contraphonic. Mikael acquired his first synthesizer, a Sequential Circuits 6-Trak, circa 1984, and slowly built up a collection of drum machines and hand-me-down instruments from Bob James (yes that Bob James). The growing stockpile led to Mikael making charming bloopy music in the sanctuary of his bedroom, escaping elements of socialization, teenage rebellion, illicit beer drinking and reefer toking. Frustrated with the limitations of the technology, Mikael abandoned computer-based music for nearly a decade, until, while working at John McEntire's innovative SOMA Electronic Music Studios in Chicago, IL, he was introduced to modular synthesis and the musical computer programming platform called MAX/MSP by Cycling '74. "The Cheetah" is the product of discovering these new technological music-making tools, and documenting the resulting inspiration.

antiMusic reports: Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Joe Pessia and Hugo Ferreira from Tantric tell us about the title track from their brand new album "Mind Control". We now turn it over to them the story:From guitarist Joe Pessia: Once we finished the tour with Saliva and Drowning Pool, we all went our separate ways home to begin writing for the next record. This one ("Mind Control") was written early-to-mid process in. Usually when I write, I'll record the bass and a bunch of guitar parts to a Pro Tools grid to make it easy for Hugo to experiment with adding/moving parts. The original was based on the bass line I wrote for the verses...that was also the intro riff. As the song kept growing, I revisited the intro/main riff and re-wrote it to something a bit heavier with a bit more attitude. (I was shooting for something along the lines of heavy STP as I love Dean DeLeo's playing). Fun tune...I think the song also gives everyone in the band a little spot to sink their teeth into live as well. From singer Hugo Ferreira: "Mind Control" went through many periods from its inception. It was actually one of the first songs Joe and I wrote for this record, and we loved it from the start. I was in Louisville, Joe in Boston and he e-mailed me the riffs to "Mind Control." However, they were initially in a different order and even slightly different riffs.
