Attack! Attack! UK Week: Day 2
antiMusic reports: The British are coming, the British are coming. That is Attack! Attack! UK's new self-titled album is coming out next week. To celebrate the pending release from these buzz worthy Welsh rockers, we asked the band's frontman Neil Starr to pick some of his favorite songs from the album and tell us about them. Here is Neil with today's song:

Too Bad Son: Will had written the bulk of this song and recorded it roughly on his PC and sent it to me as an MP3, I remember burning it on to disc and playing it over and over in my car when drove somewhere , it went days without any inspiration but then suddenly one day whilst driving something happened and the melody just appeared in my head. Scared about forgetting it I pulled over straight away and started filming myself on my phone sing the melody, I am not sure where that video is now but it would be YouTube gold if someone finds it haha .

The end of the song kinda just happened whilst in practice, we were just rehearsing the parts Will had written and when it got to the end of the breakdown I just played the notes out of instinct, the words and melody just came out of my mouth (close our eyes.....don't be frightened...) at that point too and we were all like "that's really catchy" , they were the first words that I sang to that melody and they just stuck, Lionel Ritchie refers to that happening as "Gods words" apparently, its funny how sometimes that stuff happens!

Check out tracks from the album, get tour dates, read the members blogs and learn more about the coming attack right - here!

Plant Sinks Zeppelin Tour Hopes
antiMusic reports: So much for unnamed sources, on Monday we heard from Robert Plant himself about where he stands on a Led Zeppelin reunion tour; it's not going to happen.

The latest rumor was sparked from a UK press report that said Robert Plant agreed to a reunion tour after rumors circulated that that Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham were planning to tour with another singer out in front of the group.

"It's both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward," Robert Plant said. "I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects." - more on this story

Travis Barker Out Of The Hospital
antiMusic reports: So much for his friend's prediction that Travis Barker would be released from the hospital in two weeks. Over the weekend Jermaine Dupri said that he expected Barker to be out of the hospital in two weeks, but Barker was actually released on Monday.

Billboard reported on Monday that "Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has been released from an Augusta, Ga., hospital after suffering severe burns in a fiery plane crash more than a week ago."

This follows DJ AM's release from the hospital late last week. Both were being treated for burns suffered during a plane crash two weeks ago. Billboard has more on this story - here

Britney Sex Tape?
antiMusic reports: We must warn you once again to take the following with a ton of salt because it originates from a UK tabloid, which do not have a very good track record of credibility (what? 10-15% maybe?) but alas it's another BS story we can have some fun with, so we ran with it.

Jam! reports: Britney spears' paparazzo ex Adnan Ghalib is [REPORTEDLY] attempting to cash in on his relationship with the singer by selling off a sex tape allegedly featuring the star.

The British snapper dated Spears on and off for several months during the last year, and claims to be in possession of raunchy video footage in which she wears nothing more than a pink wig. The two-hour long tape was allegedly recorded while the couple was on vacation in Mexico. - more on this story

McCartney Planning Dance Album
antiMusic reports: As if Chris Cornell's sellout wasn't enough, an even bigger music icon is planning to make dance pop music: Paul McCartney. Perhaps his ex-wife's appearance on Dancing with the Tards inspired him?

BBC News reports: Sir Paul McCartney is to release an album of electronic music under his pseudonym The Fireman.

Electric Arguments, the third the former Beatle has made with producer Youth, is due out in November and contains a mixture of musical styles. Each song was written by Sir Paul and recorded in the space of one day. [that's last sentence sound tell you enough about dance music]

Lars Defends Sound of New Metallica CD While Mixer Disowns It
antiMusic reports: We told you last week about a bit of a controversy surrounding the audio quality of the new Metallica CD, "Death Magnetic" and how some fans have started a protest petition against the "maxed out" and "distorted" mix. Now the man who gave us the "pots and pans" drum sound on the band's last album has spoken out in defending the CD mix of the album.

"Listen, there's nothing up with the audio quality," Ulrich said in an interview. "It's 2008, and that's how we make records. (Producer) Rick Rubin's whole thing is to try and get it to sound lively, to get it sound loud, to get it to sound exciting, to get it to jump out of the speakers. Of course, I've heard that there are a few people complaining. But I've been listening to it the last couple of days in my car, and it sounds f**kin' smokin'." Fans that disagree with this assessment have suspect some smokin' had been going on in the recording studio and it has nothing to do with the sound.

Some fans claim that the Guitar Hero versions of the songs have a superior and less distorted sound than the CD version. Blabbermouth has a story where Ted Jensen, the engineer who mastered the album at Sterling Sound in New York addressed fan complaints that the CD is too loud and the audio is pushed to distortion levels, "The mixes were already brick-walled before they arrived at my place. Suffice to say I would never be pushed to overdrive things as far as they are here. Believe me, I'm not proud to be associated with this one, and we can only hope that some good will come from this in some form of backlash against volume above all else." - Blabbermouth story

Vh1 Goes NWA
PR reports: The Year was 1988, the album was "Straight Outta Compton," the group was NWA and the outcome was history making. VH1's Emmy Award-winning franchise takes a look back at the album and the group that changed the face of hip hop 20 years after its release in the new VH1 Rock Doc, NWA: The World's Most Dangerous Group." The doc will premiere on VH1, Friday, October 3 at 11pm.

When NWA released their "Straight Outta Compton" album in late 1988 it changed the face of hip hop forever by ushering in a new genre of music called "gangsta rap." Television and radio were afraid to touch it because the lyrics were so perverse and forbidden, the politicians were quick to attack and condemn it and the FBI wanted it banned – it made history even before it became a multi-platinum selling album. - more on this story

Mellencamp Tributes Paul Newman
PR reports: John Mellencamp's musical heroes notwithstanding, no one had a bigger impact on him than the late Paul Newman. "In 1967, me and four other guys went to see 'Cool Hand Luke' every night for seven nights straight," recalled Mellencamp, who was a high school sophomore when he and his pals "stumbled on" Newman's classic prison drama film at Seymour's Vondee Theater. "It was winter and we wanted to get out of the house on a Monday night—and we came back Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We saved up our lunch money so we could go and by the end of the week we could recite every line!"

This, of course, was at a time of historic musical creativity. "There was so much great music to be discovered," Mellencamp continued. "Remember, there was Dylan, the Stones, the importance of James Brown. But for some reason on that week Paul Newman made the biggest influence on me, probably bigger than Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and James Brown--just by the nature of that character he played." - more on this story
