PR reports: "Walk More Softly" is the new single from 1970s hit-makers Firefall, an environmental 'green' song with a humble message of 'treating each other better' and 'taking much better care of our fragile planet' is resonating with everyone who hears the song. It will be internationally debuted on Sirius Satellite Radio on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 on "SIRIUS 7 - Totally 70s."This timely song connects with people young and old on musical and rhythmic levels, and in the simple truth of it's message. Treat all people - your loved ones, friends and everyone alike - with more respect and dignity. Give more of yourself. And take much better care of the world we live in. WALK MORE SOFTLY ON THE EARTH. "Walk More Softly" is the first studio recording by Firefall that features both the 2008 band, together for nearly twenty years, and many of original 1976 Firefall members. PR reports: Signal Hill Transmission is proud to announce the release of their four song EP, "Starting Gun," on September 23rd on ATO Records. The forthcoming release is the band's first with ATO. This all-digital release is also a first for the label. In early 2008, Signal Hill Transmission won a contest put on by Clear Channel radio station 98.7FM. The win earned them a recording contract with ATO, and from that very moment the band was off and running with the creation of "Starting Gun." "Winning a record contract from a competition, I know it sounds weird," admits guitarist Mon Agranat, "but in this industry, in this day and age, it's good to get an edge any way you can."

Prosthetic Records reports: San Francisco melodic death thrashers Light This City have confirmed Nov. 11 as the release date for the band's fourth full-length album, entitled 'Stormchaser,' as well as the complete tracklisting for the 12-song effort, which will be released through Prosthetic Records. "Looking back on the writing and recording of 'Stormchaser,' I have to say it couldn't have been a more amazing experience," drummer Ben Murray says. "Rehearsing every day for two months to write this record was grueling, but rewarding in the end. Working with producer Zack Ohren was awesome as usual, and he definitely got the best performances out of all of us. Having Chuck Billy do vocals was a surreal honor, and having our friend John from the Funeral Pyre contribute his vocals was also an awesome addition. Both tracks, 'Firehaven' (with Chuck) and 'Collector Part 2: Donor' (with John) came out heavy as hell thanks to those guys."

PR reports: Chocolate Lab Records is shiny-fresh, genre unbiased and excited to announce its inaugural release schedule. Founded by a former concert promoter and publicist, Brian McKinney, Chocolate Lab puts an emphasis on quality and profundity. All genres from folk to metal to shoegaze will have equal focus at CLR. Fresh out of the gates are new releases from two UK artists, Andy Yorke and Paper Round Kid.Andy Yorke: Andy Yorke may be a familiar name and for good reason he's the former frontman of Unbelievable Truth, author of amazing songs like "Stone," "Almost Here" and "Higher Than Reason." He's also brother of the Radiohead guy, but don't let that bias your opinions Andy more than stands on his own merits. His debut solo album, Simple, retains much of the same emotional and thematic richness found in the UT recordings, but with an intimacy of self awareness. Simple will be available for digital download on September 30 and on CD November 18. Paper Round Kid: Paper Round Kid is the moniker of one Darren Filkins, who once played lead guitar in Damon Albarn's pre-Blur outfit, Seymore. He soon left the band to explore the world on his own terms. Since then he's kept busy as a world class photographer whose resume includes Lenny Kravitz, Simon Pegg, Nick Hornby and Wilco. Some 20 years later find Filkins back in the studio with a brand new release, Submarine, a legitimate pop record with easy comparisons to Dylan, Devendra Banhart, Yes and funky '70s key parties. Submarine will be available on September 30 as a digital only release.

antiMusic reports: Welcome to the latest edition of Singled Out where artists tell us about their latest single. In this edition songstress Sonya Kitchell give us the inside story to her song "For Every Drop," taken from her new album 'This Storm.'Here is Sonya:The story behind "For Every Drop" is that it is a song that came from multiple collaborations. My friend Erin Mckewin, a great singer songwriter, came over one day to hang out and play music. We played each other bits of songs, and when I played her a bit of what is now "For Every Drop" she liked it and suggested we finish it. The song at that point wasn't about anything in particular and we decided it'd be fun to write a song about your quintessential self-involved person who believes "for every drop that falls from above you say this is a sign of what I'm thinking of." So, the song evolved and was thought to be finished, when I got together with my friend Mike Daly, another great writer and played the song for him. He told me the song needed a chorus
I thought we already had a pretty good one, but off we went and wrote ourselves a chorus. I was able to collaborate so openly on this song, which is unusual for me, since I wrote everything else on the album on my own, because I was un-attached to the song itself, and it was just a passing idea I had
not a message I had to get across or an inner emotion I had to work through. I got to the studio and when I was sorting through the songs with producer Malcolm Burn, he picked that one out as one he thought we should record, and we further mixed and mashed up the form of the song. And so, the final result is a product of many people, their ideas, and an awful lot of cooks in the kitchen
. And honestly, it's one of my favorite songs on the record. So, I guess it just goes to show, it doesn't hurt to play with the other kids in the sandbox. Check out the song and learn more about Sonya

antiMusic reports: Alaska rocker's Portugal return to record stores this week with their third album 'Censored Colors,' which promises to take them from underground heroes to the mainstream of the rock world with their incredible sound which takes us back to the day when it was "the music stupid" and not just image that made rockstars. To celebrate the release we asked the band's newest member Ryan Neighbors to pick his favorite tracks from the album and tell us a little bit about each one. Here is Ryan with today's song: New Orleans - I think this one is everyone's personal favorite on the album. It is actually the first song we recorded with Phil and Kirk. When the song began I personally could not tell what direction it was heading but it worked out really well. There are a lot of really cool layers in there too. Phil played accordion, Bobby is an amazing trumpet. We actually didn't even hear the trumpet in there for months after we recorded the song. There was an initial period when I was a little offset by it but that is just because I was too used to what the song was before. I now love the trumpet, it pretty much makes the song. Due to the second half of the record flowing together we did the outro which I also thinks works well and turned out great. We are all very happy with the song. Wanna hear what it's all about? You can do that plus grab tour dates, learn more about the band and their new album and more

The genre is full of groups who seem afraid of their amplifiers, such as Death Cab for Cutie and Bright Eyes, and that's exactly why groups like Blag'ard need to exist. Blag'ard blend elements of noise and whammy freakouts with straight forward, punkish indie rock. (4 stars)
