antiMusic reports: Alaska rocker's Portugal return to record stores this week with their third album 'Censored Colors,' which promises to take them from underground heroes to the mainstream of the rock world with their incredible sound which takes us back to the day when it was "the music stupid" and not just image that made rockstars. To celebrate the release we asked the band's newest member Ryan Neighbors to pick his favorite tracks from the album and tell us a little bit about each one. Here is Ryan with today's song: And I - This song is about love. I like that. I think this song has on overall good feel to it from start to finish. It was one of the first things we recorded when we went up to Seattle. I was placed in a dark room with candles and incense and I played the intro a bunch of times. It made for a somber mood but I feel like the song as a whole is very hopeful. I think people like that in music especially in desperate times. The overall sound of the recording is probably my favorite on the record. When the song first started it seemed it was going to turn out very different but I love how it turned out. Jason did some great drumming on this song with his Pink Floydish drum fills on the chorus. It just feels good. Wanna hear what it's all about? You can do that plus grab tour dates, learn more about the band and their new album and more

UMe reports: On September 30, 2008, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Tori Amos Live At Montreux 1991/1992 on both CD (16 songs) and DVD (90 minutes, 19 songs) simultaneously sold separately. It is a rare glimpse into that initial breathy rush of a great artist's ascendancy. The '91 gig came only months before her Little Earthquakes debut had catapulted her into an instant icon, the '92 appearance shortly thereafter. The progression in both performance and audience receptivity is appreciable. Material includes most of her stellar debut but also tracks from her indie EPs and some notable covers (Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" and "Thank You" as well as Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit").

PR reports: After more than 15 million records sold in its Indonesian homeland, Slank is breaking out with its first worldwide English language album, "Anthem for the Broken Hearted."Slank's decidedly Western sound has a broad appeal to lovers of pop music with a rock edge. Its lyrics, however, draw from its Indonesian foundation, focusing on the trials and tribulations of living in a struggling, third-world country. The album's title, in fact, is not an ode to the lovesick, but a reference to the Indonesian people. Slank is prepared to support the release of "Anthem for the Broken Hearted" with a U.S. tour this fall, though the dates will not be Slank's first in America.

The genre is full of groups who seem afraid of their amplifiers, such as Death Cab for Cutie and Bright Eyes, and that's exactly why groups like Blag'ard need to exist. Blag'ard blend elements of noise and whammy freakouts with straight forward, punkish indie rock. (4 stars)
