The 88 Week: Final Day
antiMusic reports: Critically acclaimed rockers The 88 return to stores this week with their latest effort "Not Only... But Also." To celebrate the release we asked Keith Slettedahl to pick some of his favorite tracks from the album and tell us a little bit about each one. Here is Keith with today's song:

Save Your Breath: I was tired of meeting with people in the music business -- managers, lawyers, label people -- none of whom seemed at all interested in working with our band. I finally realized that none of this was even important to me, and that I had completely lost sight of what really mattered: playing music that I liked with friends that I loved. I decided I no longer needed anyone's approval, and I wrote this song.

I then proceeded to disregard everything I wrote and signed a record deal. I stand by every word in the song, and it means more to me now than the day I wrote it. It was Matt Wallace's idea to add a bridge to the song, and I'm glad we listened. I like this one a lot.

Against Me! Bus Crash
punknews.org reports: Against Me! was involved in a bus crash while traveling between dates in Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah earlier this week and their frontman has finally issued a report about what went down.

The band is currently touring with Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and Future of the Left. Leo reported in via his website that the members of Against Me! are uninjured but likely delayed

Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel posted a blog about the accident and said in part, "Everyone was asleep when it happened. I didn't want to wake up. Moments before I was sleeping so deeply. I was annoyed. I woke to the sound of my friends screaming, various expletives, inarticulate gasps, the sensation of spinning, and the sound of crashing inside and outside the bus. My eyes opened to blackness. I immediately pressed my hands and feet into the roof of my bunk as hard as I could, bracing for what I did not know." - more

Bono's New Day Gig
Music Radar reports: Bono's got the writing bug in a big way. In addition to finishing U2's upcoming album, No Line On The Horizon, for which he's penned "50 to 60" songs, he'll sit down at his MacBook next year and make some real money - by writing for the New York Times.

As it so happens, Bono will turn in his copy free of charge, according to New York Times editor Andrew Rosenthal. (As if he needs the dough anyway.)

It is said that Bono will crank out between six to ten pieces for the newspaper, ranging on topics from Africa to poverty to the music of Frank Sinatra. - more on this story

Moby Porn Video?
Music Radar reports: Back in June, Moby launched a competition that offered aspiring video directors the chance to create a promo for Ooh Yeah, a track from his latest album Last Night. Now he's picked a winner, and it looks like he wants to get his sexy on.

The clip, which was directed by Matteo Bernardini, takes us onto the set of a fictional 1970s skin flick – there's definitely a Boogie Nights vibe around the place.

The film features characters with names like Angelica La Lapin, Crystal Menthe, Foxy Candy, Bunny and Big Rob (best not to ask how he got his moniker). - more on this story

Lindsey Buckingham Interview Preview Pt 4
antiMusic reports: When you manage to snag an interview with an artist who's most popular album has sold as many copies as The Beatles biggest selling album in the U.S., and overall has sold more albums than such icons as Bob Dylan, Bon Jovi, Prince, Queen and even Eminem and Britney Spears, you can't just run the interview. It calls for something special. So this week we are forgoing Singled Out! so we can preview Morley's interview with Lindsey Buckingham. Lindsey has released a wealth of music over the years as both a solo artist and as one of key songwriters and voices of Fleetwood Mac. He just released his latest effort, Gift of Screws, and Morley managed to get him on the phone to discuss the effort as well as other interesting topics. So each day this week we have been teasing you with one question and answer from the interview, here is today's final installment but you can skip reading it here because you can now read the full interview! Today Morley asks Lindsey about the music direction of the new album:

antiMusic: Your last record Under the Skin was largely an acoustic record. Gift of Screws has you rocking out more. Was it purposeful to divide the two records into these collections or was this just the material that presented itself to you in both instances?

Lindsey: Well you know, I did have a very specific idea last time of just taking the finger style and applying production values to it and it was as much about what I DIDN'T do, you know, the lead, and probably very little bass or drums. I was kind of was thinking I was going to approach Gift of Screws in a similar way, maybe stepping it up a little bit. But I certainly didn't think it was going to end up rocking as much as it does. It's just...it's basically what you said you know, you start working on something and you have to sort of be open to where the work sort of wants to lead you, and in fact it seemed to want to lead me in a direction where it was sort of hitting the wall rocking so, you know, I sort of let it do that.

Enough teasing, you've been waiting all week to read the full interview and now you can. All you have to do is click - right here!
