antiMusic reports: The Bronx roar back this week with their third album! To celebrate this release we asked frontman Matt Caughthran to pick his favorite tracks from the album and tell us about them. He more than delivers! Here is Matt with today's song:"Past Lives"- Traveling the world playing music is something I never thought I would do. This song was written in Europe last year. Its part homesick and part sick of home. When you live on the road it can create a home life of constantly putting the pieces back together. It originated from a poem I wrote while driving thru Germany. Cities divided into each other, and I felt like I was being reborn. The guitar sound is larger than life on this song. When I hear that opening riff I transcend right back to that tour. Right back to my seat staring out the window at the European countryside. Right back to that poem. Telling myself to Slow down, because there are some things I was never meant to figure out. Preview songs from the album, learn more about it and the group and more right

Sleazeroxx reports: Meet Kyle Drinkwine. The Wisconsin man, 24, allegedly became so incensed by a lackluster karaoke performance of a heavy metal song that he assaulted the singer and a second man, police charge. According to a River Falls Police Department report, Drinkwine throttled singer James Mischler, 28, and his friend Cyrus Kozub, 29, "over one's ability to sing karaoke." Though cops did not specify which song set Drinkwine off last week, Kozub told TSG that Mischler was performing "Holy Diver," the title cut on Dio's 1983 debut album (the band is fronted by Ronnie James Dio of Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell/Rainbow fame).

Wired reports: The lawyer for Kevin Cogill, the Los Angeles man charged with uploading nine unreleased Guns N' Roses tracks from the upcoming Chinese Democracy album, said Thursday his client's plea deal with prosecutors does not require any prison time."We're looking at straight probation as a result of taking this deal," attorney David Kaloyanides said in a telephone interview. Probation, which includes minimal restrictions, is usually a year, he said. Cogill is accused of uploading the songs to his music site, antiquiet. Metal Underground reports: A band featuring Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham would not go by the name of Led Zeppelin, a spokesperson for Page has said. Jones revealed last month that the former Led Zeppelin stars planned to tour minus their frontman after Robert Plant ruled himself out of any further performances. When asked about the collaboration, an unnamed spokesperson for Page's management company, Qprime, told Rolling Stone: "Whatever this is, it is not Led Zeppelin. Not without the involvement of Robert Plant."

Music Radar reports: Let's just say that the first few dates of The Smashing Pumpkins' 20th anniversary tour aren't off to a rousing start.Sick of the catcalls he was receiving and from watching audience members leave in droves, Billy Corgan eventually invited a particularly vocal heckler onstage to have it out with him. "Last night's show fucking sucked, man!" the young man yelled into Corgan's microphone to an abundance of cheers. Corgan appeared to stay calm and asked the fan if he wanted his money back, but then told him to leave. And while the man walked off the stage, Corgan let loose with this gem: "By the way, I liked that song you wrote. I heard it was Number 1. Wasn't it Number 1 in Europe? It's called Take Your Dick Out Of My Ass And Stick It In My Mouth."

antiMusic reports: Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Twisterbait's "Popstars" is a song (and video) after our own hearts. So much so, we have adopted it as our unofficial theme song! We're pleased today to let Twisterbait tell you the tale behind track and hook you up with the hilarious video! Here you go:'Popstars' mocks the attention-starved, insecurity-ridden world of manufactured pop culture. It started life as a jerky chord progression on a nylon string acoustic with a ridiculous chorus line that made my friend's kids jump around laughing. It grew verses to repel celebrity-dominated news, dumbed-down advertising, soap operas, 'reality' TV, popstar-wannabe talent contests and other such insults to evolution. I remember laughing out loud to myself in a supermarket aisle as one line sprang up, with a random shopper looking at me like I needed sectioning. The lyrics got fine-tuned in spare moments on buses etc and when I was happy with the full arrangement I brought it to the band. Within one rehearsal we had a celebrity-punching rock song with kicking drums and abusive bass. It went down a storm at gigs and soon we had a development advance from an investor who was at one of them. By the time we played the Bull and Gate in Islington we had Popstars nailed. It was the best gig we'd done and producer / Death In Vegas drummer Simon Hanson was in the crowd. Before we knew it we were recording the 'I Spy' EP in his studio with a production deal. I got threatened with a staple gun and attacked with a broom whilst trying to record a lead break to Popstars. I think Simon Hanson had experienced some kind of guitar solo overkill trauma during the eighties. I sometimes came in and found him alone in the studio shouting to himself with his headphones on and figured it might be best to just go with it, so my guitar tracks got bent out of shape and all sorts of other electronic therapy took hold. It came out sounding mad. Reviewers and radio stations loved it. Xacca Sounds signed Twisterbait and we carried on recording at Hansonic. I guess Popstars resonates with people whose mental spam filters are overworked by constant barrages of mindless crap from every angle of the media. If that sounds like you, behold Electrovee's 'Popstars' video on Youtube and you'll see you're not alone. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the EP and our new heroes in Twisterbait
