Winehouse Gets Away With Crack Video
Gigwise reports: It's rather funny that the same week that the British government is reportedly looking to reclassify marijuana as a harder drug, a pop star gets away with smoking crack on video. Then again the laws have always been for the "little people," not celebrities like Amy Crackhouse.

Gigwise has the story on the cracked justice: Amy Winehouse will face no further action over a video which supposedly showed her smoking crack cocaine. The singer questioned earlier this month after voluntarily attending a police station in East London.

The arrest was in connection with a video that was passed to the Metropolitan Police in January. "The Crown Prosecution Service has now reviewed the case and no further action is being taken," a police spokesperson said. - more on this story

Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park To Be Guitar Heroes
Blabbermouth reports: According to the latest issue of Game Informer, Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime have been confirmed for the fourth installment of the Guitar Hero video game, with developer Neversoft confirming master tracks shall be used for all available songs.

Aside from the special-editions of Guitar Hero III, the true successor will have some funky new additions including custom song creation and support for multiple instruments, reports C3 News.

Guitar Hero IV, due for release this fall, is said to include drum and vocal work (much like EA's Rock Band effort), alongside the expected Bass and Guitar. [Will they then change the name of the game? We also hear that Gibson is working on their own alternative to Guitar Hero and Rock Band. It rumored be a package that includes a real guitar and a real amp, but you'll have to come up with the music on your own.] - more on this story

Lamb of God Drummer Moonlighting
PR reports: Chris Adler, the blistering drummer of heavy metal giants Lamb of God, will be contributing to Modern Drummer Magazine with a column entitled, "My Two Cents." In his column, Chris will be answering reader's questions from his unique drumming perspective, as well as suggesting and teaching new drum techniques.

Chris commented on his new monthly column: "I'm flattered and amazed to be asked to contribute a column to the magazine. As I mention in the column this month, I'm not the typical MD model. I'm not the Berklee kid - I'm the kid with the long hair and denim jacket that figured it out my way. I hope the column serves as a beacon to players like myself who may feel overwhelmed by MD magazine. It's great of MD to recognize the organic, self-taught style, and I hope to empower those readers who play from their heart, not just from the exercises we read. I'm already receiving very positive feedback and questions from readers and can't wait bring a bit different perspective to them."

Readers and fans are encouraged to write in with questions for Chris. Send an e-mail to miked@moderndrummer.com with "For Chris Adler" in the subject line. - more on this story

Should Pete Doherty Be Out of Prison?
Gigwise reports: Pete Doherty has admitted to cheating on a drugs test shortly before he was sentenced to jail last month.

The Babyshambles singer said that he only passed the test because he used someone else's urine sample.

"I was pretty much back into the [heroin] cycle. I was banging it," Doherty explained. Doherty was released from Wormwood Scrubs prison last week, after serving just 29 days of a 14-week sentence for probation violation. - more on this story

Slightly Stoopid Tailgate 2008 Summer Tour
HER reports: For over a decade now, Slightly Stoopid has been supplying its fans with tunes that have served as the perfect summer soundtrack and ultimate live party. So it should be fitting that the group, that has been led from the beginning by Kyle McDonald and Miles Doughty (who share vocal/guitar/bass duties), take it to the stage this dog day season for "Tailgate 2008 Summer Tour," kicking off in Las Vegas on August 1 and playing some two dozen cities across the country before they wrap up on September 6 in their hometown of San Diego, CA.

This will be the band's first-ever sole headlining trek of amphitheatres and will feature Pepper and reggae legends Sly & Robbie. And let's not forget the arrival of the group's tenth release overall - the odds and ends collection "Slightly Not Stoned Enough to Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid" - which is the latest release for the group's newly formed label, Stoopid Records.

"We did an album called 'Closer to the Sun,' and we had a bunch of songs - we went in and recorded 50 or 60 songs because we were having so much fun," explains Kyle. "We had way too much for that album - we put out "Not Stoned Enough' originally as a six-song bonus CD, only available in a limited pressing, with the pre-sale of the original album. People ended up liking it but not being able to get it. We went in and recorded some more songs in a session with the Inner Circle guys at their Circle House Studios in Miami, added a couple of songs from here and there, and just wrapped it up." - more including dates

Fatboy Slim Is No More
The Sun reports: Norman Cook has decided to retire the name Fatboy Slim after 11 successful years. The superstar DJ will be working under a different name once his new album is released.

But the DJing legend is keeping schtum about them until he makes his decision. He said: "Yes, I am ditching the Fatboy Slim name but I can't tell you the new one.

"I'm going to take the Fifth Amendment on that question and not say because I'll get myself into trouble." - But they did get him to admit to one name he's toying with.

Megadeth Vs Dickheads
BW&BK reports: Fan accounts are surfacing regarding an incident during Megadeth 's May 12th Gigantour stop in Edmonton, Alberta at the Shaw Conference Center that saw frontman Dave Mustaine come close to stopping the show. Megadeth forum member "kingmidis" has issued the following recap:

"Some dickhead threw a beer or something on the soundboard, thus making Dave, and I'm sure the whole crew, pissed off and on edge. Shit getting thrown on stage fueled the tension and at the pinicle, some dickheads ran across stage during 'A Toute Le Monde' causing the band to walk off stage for 20 or so minutes. (I presume during that time, Dave and co. kicked the f**king sh*t out of the guy who got caught on stage.)

"Dave comes back on stage to give the lowdown and chew out security. Gives a solid speech on the situation and the utter lack of respect it is to have sh*t thrown on stage/people get on stage." - [read more about the dickheads here]

Before you get your hopes up, they only added two dates to the outing. It Dies Today is currently working on a new album. The effort has been titled "Lividity" and will be available this fall via Trustkill Records. Singer Jason Wood elaborates: "We're really pumped about this new record! Lividity is a medical term (as I am a huge fan of CSI) that means when you die all your blood in your body settles, so where you're lying is a bruise covering that part of your body. more

Pendulum have just released their U.S. debut album, In Silico. The UK band fuses hard-rock guitars with trance rhythms and techno beats. One critic described their high-energy sound as, "…if Jean Michel Jarre teamed up with Prodigy and jammed with Tool guitarist Adam Jones." Check out the band's UFO filled video for their single, "Granite" here

Rob Dickinson, former frontman of highly influential British band Catherine Wheel is set to re-release his debut solo album, Fresh Wine For The Horses. 10 Years Week: Day 4 "Drug of Choice"
antiMusic reports: 10 Years' sophomore album, Division, hits stores this week. We spoke with drummer Brian Vodinh to get the lowdown on his favorite tracks from the album. Here he is with today's song:

This song was really fun to create. It's a bit out of character for us. It has a bit of a punk rock feel to it and is so much fun to play. This song is simply about American pop culture and our fascination with being completely over-stimulated. The first line of the song is "Sex always sells, death is a thrill, entertain my lack of patience." I think that line sums up the whole song. Considering all the media coverage of people like Britney Spears and all the other televised train wrecks out there it's pretty damn apparent that as a culture we love to be the fly on the nearest wall to a disaster. America is a buffet of sex, drugs, rock & roll, and whatever else you want. "What is your drug of choice? Pick your poison and enjoy!"
