antiMusic reports: This week we feature a band that straddles the line between hard rock and hardcore, gathering devoted fans out of most everyone that hears them. We're talking about the band Taint. Candlelight Records just released their new album, "Secrets And Lies," and we were fortunate to catch up with frontman Jimbob and ask him to tell us about his favorite tracks on the CD. Here is Jimbob with today's song "Corpse Of Love":Hopefully people can appreciate that 'Corpse Of Love' is a tongue in cheek love song. Or rather, and apres-love song. It's my sardonic side coming out to play, and as you can tell, and is like an eulogy or farewell to my fictional, dead girlfriend. This might be our poppiest territory, in terms of songwriting. I love it. The CD is in stores now but you can grab a preview and learn more about the band

Billboard reports: Buddy Miles, who co-founded and played drums in Band Of Gypsys with Jimi Hendrix, passed away yesterday (Feb. 26) in Austin, Texas, at the age of 60. A cause of death has yet to be announced.Miles was born Sept. 5, 1947, in Omaha, Neb., and was introduced to music at a young age by his father, who played in a band called the Bebops. As a young man he also played with Wilson Pickett, the Delfonics and the Ink Spots. Miles met Hendrix in the early 1960s but didn't begin collaborating with him until 1969, when Hendrix produced an album by the Buddy Miles Express.

E! reports: For the second straight week, Jack Johnson and Michael Jackson have the country's bestselling albums and held down the top spots on their respective charts. For the week ended Sunday, Johnson's Sleep Through the Static topped the Billboard 200, selling 105,000 copies, according to the latest SoundScan numbers, while Jackson's Thriller: 25th Anniversary Edition ruled the Top Pop Catalog chart, selling 63,000 copies. As a reissue, the silver-anniversary Thriller was ineligible for the Billboard 200 despite selling more copies than that chart's current number two artist, Alicia Keys, who sold another 53,000 copies of As I Am.

antiMusic reports: Before we get to this story about Maxim being caught "previewing" another CD they haven't heard, we must ponder what is the difference between "previewing" or "reviewing" music you haven't heard? You still end up talking out your rear side about something you know nothing about. Maybe the new maxim should be: Maxim magazine is to music criticism what the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is to rock music? Here is Idolator with a bit about the rag being caught with their journalistic pants down again: After being caught reviewing the new Black Crowes album without reviewer David Peisner actually possessing a copy of said album and claiming the bogus critique as an "educated-guess preview," Maxim has gone one better and awarded another mediocre review to an album that doesn't actually exist yet. Last we heard, Nas' Title That Certain Bloggers Take Great Delight In Printing Whenever Possible had been delayed until late spring. Turns out the rapper has possibly yet to even deliver the tapes to Def Jam; Nas tells the New York Post that he's "finishing the album now" and talking up a new April 22 release date. Perhaps in deference to those long magazine lead times, the educated guessers at Maxim went ahead and gave Nas' unfinished album 2 1/2 circles (out of a perfect five). That's the same score that so incensed the Crowes, but Nas is much more sanguine about the whole affair. Maxim has since apologized for the premature review, but Nas doesn't care. "I'd prefer [a review from] Playboy," the rapper said.

Gigwise reports: Kiss legend Gene Simmons has spoken out about the sex tape that was leaked last week. The rocker claims that he has been aware of the "decades" old footage for quite a while and said that the people behind it have even tried to blackmail him in the past. He is currently taking legal action. "The entity behind the garbage has repeatedly tried to make money off of this and we have always refused. This is not the first time the entity has tried to blackmail and extort us. We have always refused and we will continue to refuse."

antiMusic reports: Nikki Sixx has responded to Tom Werman's comments in the New York Times where Werman challenged some of the assertions in Sixx's book "Heroin Diaries". Werman said in part, "As the producer of three MΦTLEY CRάE albums over a four-year period, I found Sixx's allegation that in the recording studio he did 'all the work' with Vince Neil's vocals while I chatted idly on the phone not only humorous but pure fiction. If this distortion of reality is the result of Sixx's past heroin habit, then his diary is truly nothing more than a pipe dream, and the events to which this book refers may simply be the needle-induced fantasies of an attention-starved junkie."Here is what Sixx had to say in response: "Part of the process of recovery is being able to take responsibility for our actions. Sometimes it hurts but if you want to grow up, you have to take the hit. In my diaries, I was able to expose my pain and showed what the bottom looks like through the eyes of addiction. I don't think I came out looking too pretty in my book but it needed to be exposed for others to understand that they are not alone. In fact, I even took the unprecedented step of including commentary by many of the people who were there at the time, including Slash, Vanity, Tommy, Vince & Mick to provide their own account (as I was using a great deal of the time, I thought it was necessary so that both the reader and I could trust what I wrote at the time was the truth). Is Mr. Werman also claiming that they are liars??? "Tom Werman being worried about what I said in my book about him is just so narcissistic and self-centered. I'm sorry if he got his feelings hurt but I feel that I was kind to Mr. Werman by withholding things from the book that would have jeopardized his marriage and his job security with Elektra at the time. I was a lot more generous to him than I was to myself. However, if Mr. Werman wants me to publish a complete accounting of the facts, I'll gladly write a nice short story in the form of a blog that will expose his actions during all the Motley Crue sessions that would make very interesting reading for his wife."

Band Statement reports: Darkest Hour regrets that we have to cancel the last remaining days of our Doomsayer's North American Tour. However, all of the shows will go on as scheduled (with the Red Chord headlining New York City, NY, and Allentown, PA) except for Washington, DC, which has been outright canceled. The tour has been an amazing time but guitarist Kris Norris has been summoned home to attend to the early birth of his first little baby. It is with great joy that we wish Kris and his wife Christina luck with their new addition to the family.Sometimes when you live out on the road, life back home has to be put first. We couldn't have asked for a better tour package on this tour and our hearts go out to EMMURE, WHITE CHAPEL, and CHEPHALIC CARNAGE. We only hope to be blessed with their mighty rock again sometime soon. Utmost, we apologize to all the fans, friends, dudes and dudettes out there in (NY, DC, and PA). We will be back to make it up to you for sure! We will see ya this summer with a surprise that we can't wait to announce.

antiMusic reports: At least Filter is excited about this year's crock hall. Here is what they have to say about who will be inducting this year's "rockers": The presenters for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are almost as exciting as the inductees. Legendary rocker, Lou Reed will induct Leonard Cohen, the pianoman Billy Joel will induct John Mellencamp, Ben Harper will usher in Little Walter and Justin Timberlake will do the honors for Madonna. Other notable presenters are Tom Hanks (who will induct the Dave Clark Five) and John Fogerty (who will introduce the Ventures). It all goes down March 10 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. So make sure you tune in to VH1 Classic, who will broadcast the show live at 8:30.

Details on their yet-to-be-titled fourth album tentatively set for June are still in the works.

PR reports: Gathered from evidence obtained through various reports, leaked interrogation logs and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, a list of the top 24 songs strategically used on military prisoners in Iraq was recently made public, according to Mother Jones Magazine's website. Among a list of such musical luminaries as EMINEM, METALLICA and AC/DC (as well as non-luminary Barney The Dinosaur), was DEICIDE, coming in at number one with the song "F**k Your God" from 2004's SCARS OF THE CRUCIFIX.When word of this info first got to DEICIDE drummer, Steve Asheim, the only thing he could really say was "It's cool. If we're up to military standards of audio abuse, it makes me feel like DECIDE's doing our part for the troops." Of course this moment is not the only history that Asheim has with the armed forces. "My dad was a Marine, as were my uncle and grandfather;" says the DEICIDE skinsman. "I didn't follow in their footsteps since I was so busy with the band thing, but I'm glad I was eventually able to contribute somehow." Some of the tactical circumstances where prisoners may have heard "F**k Your God" include sleep deprivation and interrogation disorientation. While some may see this information as a shock, other readers of the source article have taken a slightly different view of the situation. Commented one reader of the source article, "Honestly, the barney theme song is more disturbing than DEICIDE's F**k Your God."

Hecklerspray reports: We've come to realise that it's just a matter of time before Miley Cyrus has us all in the iron grip of a malevolent dictatorship now. Why? Well, as if having a top-rated TV show, a number one movie and a bunch of chart-topping albums, isn't enough, now it's been revealed that Miley Cyrus is going to host the CMT awards. You heard correctly - Miley Cyrus is going to host this year's CMT awards. The world's third-biggest country and western-themed awards show. It doesn't get much bigger than that. Apart from the world's second-biggest country and western-themed awards show, or the world's first-biggest country and western-themed awards show. Or any other awards show at all. Is there no stopping this Miley Cyrus woman?

antiMusic reports: Amber Pacific's frontman Matt Young has decided to depart the group after the band complete their current tour obligations. The band want to assure fans that they will carry on. Here is what they had to say: "Hello, we would like to say that we fully support Matt's decision to pursue other opportunities that this life has to offer and wish him the best with whatever road he decides to take. However, we also would like everyone to know that we have every intention of continuing on as Amber Pacific and have been writing and working on new material during this time off. We are excited about what the future may bring with new songs and obviously a new singer."Here is part of Matt's message to fans: "As the days turn to weeks, and the weeks into months, I have found myself searching to find my place in life, in this very place and time. Unfortunately, I have come to the conclusion that my place is no longer as a member of Amber Pacific. "It saddends me to think about all that I will be giving up: seeing the country, working and spending time with friends, making music and seeing it in movies, TV shows, and videogames; but most importantly, it is, and always will be hard to cope with not being able to see all of you. I have said it before and I will say it again, that everyone who has supported the band and I personally throughout the years is not only a fan, but a friend. I appreciate all of the hugs, the cheers, and the heartfelt stories of appreciation."
