antiMusic reports: The whole idea of our artist week specials is to expose you to great new music and this week lives up to that promise. This week we feature a band that straddles the line between hard rock and hardcore, gathering devoted fans out of most everyone that hears them. We're talking about the band Taint. Candlelight Records just released their new album, "Secrets And Lies," and we were fortunate to catch up with frontman Jimbob and ask him to tell us about his favorite tracks on the CD. Here is Jimbob with today's song "Hex Breaker":Well as 'Hex Breaker' is the opening song, I'd like to set the scene once again by telling you more about it. It's a mission statement for the album. No punches are pulled, and I'd say it's our most aggressive song yet. I feel the lyrics need little explanation, if any at all. What you hear is what you get, the sound of three guys not giving a fuck. The CD is in stores now but you can grab a preview and learn more about the band

antiMusic reports: It appears that fake music reviews go hand in hand with fake porn. Who knew? Apparently Maxim Magazine got caught writing a CD review for an album they never heard and then tried to justify it by explaining that they just wished to cover a big release and having not heard it didn't really matter. They made an educated guess! Here is what the Black Crowes had to say about the whole mess: How is it that a magazine can review an entire album--and assign a star rating to it--without actually hearing the album? Case in point: the "review" of Warpaint--the new album by THE BLACK CROWES--in the March issue of Maxim magazine. The writer--who has not heard the album since advance CDs were not made available--wrote what appears to be a disparaging assessment anyway, citing "it hasn't left Chris Robinson and the gang much room for growth." Incredulously, the magazine gave the album a two and a half star rating--although neither the writer nor the editor could have heard more than one song (the single "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution"). When approached for an explanation, the magazine described the review as "an educated guess preview." Huh?

NYPost.com reports: Though Nickelback has three albums left on its current contract with Warner subsidiary Roadrunner Records, the band is looking to use its multi-platinum success as leverage for a new deal. ...With the ability to go anywhere as leverage, these sources added the band will look for a richer deal from Warner that also includes the rights to its "master recordings," which means that the group would collect royalties on album sales, which so far total 16.3 million from five albums, according to Nielsen SoundScan. For its part, sources said Warner wants to sign a so-called "360 deal" with the band that would give Roadrunner a piece of its album, touring and merchandising sales.

punknews.org reports: Jello Biafra (ex-Dead Kennedys) recently spoke to Norway's Aftenposten and unleashed some serious hate against music industry trade lobby, RIAA. He does express some concern about the problem of file sharing with regards to newer bands however:"Don't take from the smaller, independent labels. Then fantastic bands would have to surrender way too early, because they can't afford it, Support the independent labels, but the big ones f*ck'em. Anyways, I haven't found anything in many years which come from a large label worth buying. "The RIAA reminds me most of the Godfather, we will sue you. If you want out of this without going to court, we can make an arrangement: Give us $5000. If not, you will find a horses head in your bed. They are doing this to 12 year old girls, they are doing it to 80 year old women, and they do it to students."

antiMusic reports: Members of Pain were attacked by thugs in Germany. Metal Underground has the story: PAIN touring guitarist Marcus Jidell (ROYAL HUNT, HOUSE OF SHAKIRA), who is currently on the road with the band supporting NIGHTWISH in Europe, has checked in with this message: "We had to cancel the gig tonight in Leipzig while some crazy a**holes kicked Peter (Tδgtgren), Johan (Husgafvel) and David (Wallin) down when they where on their way home from a local bar yesterday. They just came from behind so there was nothing they could do. I was in the bus watching a movie so I am totally okay, besides the fact that we had to cancel. "I feel really shitty to cancel but there was no way we could play today. I hope we will be able to be on stage tomorrow but I am not sure. But the guys are in a good mood and are working on recovering. Today we will sleep in a hotel and I'll try to make our heroes feel a little bit better."

This has been a tour that we have been extremely excited about and looking forward to for several months and to back out was very tough for us. However our label (Trustkill Records) has decided to pull tour support funding for this tour as they feel finishing our next record is the number one priority. "Our management and label both feel that we need to be writing our new record in preparation for a spring recording and with this tour we just don't have enough time to accomplish all things. With that said the decision has been handed down and we are forced to cancel."
