PR reports: One thing about the music community is that we pull together when a friend is in need. Scozz, the drummer for Asphalt Valentine, is currently facing some difficult challenges. His wife and love of his life, Mary Beth is very ill. Aside from the obvious emotional struggles they both are facing, the medical costs have simply become overbearing. All we can do for the emotional challenges is hope for a speedy recovery and keep them both in our thoughts and prayers. For the financial challenges, WE CAN DO SOMETHING...CHAVIS RECORDS and LANE PRODUCTIONS in association with THE FRIENDS OF SCOZZ FOUNDATION announce the charity event, A Benefit For Mary Beth. The event is being held on March 21, 2008 at Shakers Nite Club in Cambridge, OH. Performing on this night will be Britny Fox, Asphalt Valentine, A Nervous Wreck, American Angel, and The Dogs Divine. Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $7.00 at the door. The night will be filled with great performances, plenty of food and drink, raffles and more. For those that cannot attend but still want to help can still do so. We are setting up a LIVE PAY PER VIEW WEBCAST of the event. The cost is still $5.00. Funds raised from the event will be donated to THE FRIENDS OF SCOZZ FOUNDATION.

PR reports: Meet Mick Dingle, L.A.'s newest wanker. He's a middle-aged music industry lifer from the North of England who has somehow wrangled a gig hosting the morning show at one of the city's lesser-known outlets. The only problem is he is completely out of touch with the current scene. He'll tell you it's because the music has lost the magic it had in the 90s, when he was working in college radio promotions ("The Shins are o.k., but face it, mate, they're no Chumbawamba"), or the fire it had in the 80s, when he managed the not quite legendary Machine Shop in Birmingham ("We were like the sister club of the Hacienda, yeah? Not officially, mind you. But people knew.") The real reason, however is that he is both too old and too full of self-pity. Like any hustling weasel, though, he is quick to jump on any bandwagon that will make him seem cool. Actually, there are other problems as well. For one thing, the man has no taste. He likes whatever the labels tell him is good or whatever he mistakenly believes to be popular. He is also afflicted with what his past life therapist calls ancient rage issues ("I might have been a Native American, like a Hopi or some shit like that"). These "issues" get worked out on his engineer/assistant, Josh, who despite a nervous disposition is in fact everything Mick wishes he could be: musical, liked by the bands, popular with women, ...and young. Follow the hilarious misadventures as Mick adjusts to life in LA without his record collection (held up at customs due to a Homeland Security ban on Eighties vinyl), or as he convinces Josh to join him in a spiritual session with his Shaman/Past Life Healer. Each episode features a "fake" interview with a "real" band as well as exploring the evolving relationship between the hapless Mick and the increasingly annoyed Josh. Bands featured include Entrance, No Age, Jonathan Rice and Lavender Diamond...

TMZ reports: Puff Diddy Daddy is claiming that the man who sued him over a fight outside of the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood is at fault -- and the explanation is the oldest one in the book.TMZ has obtained a declaration by Combs filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, explaining the incident (in Diddy's classic words), alleging that Gerald Rechnitzer "continued moving toward me and, without warning, lunged at me. Instinctively, I outstretched one of my hands, which hand was not closed-fisted, to shield myself "... any contact between Mr.Rechnitzer and myself was caused by his forward motion against my stationary open hand."

Blabbermouth reports: Clint Hale of 210SA recently conducted an interview with L.A. GUNS drummer Steve Riley. [This is the version of L.A. Guns minus their namesake.]210SA: Do you ever want to have a battle of the bands with the other L.A. GUNS and just settle it once and for all? Riley: It would be no contest. If you're an L.A. GUNS fan or even a casual fan, you'll still notice the difference pretty immediately. ..... There are certain techniques that Phil [Lewis] used, and it's hard to duplicate that. As for L.A. GUNS, the other one will peter out. People are becoming aware that it sounds really bad. We're fighting the fight right now, and it's childish, but we have to sort of stick our nose in it right now because people want to know what we think. The reality is that (the other L.A. GUNS) is a band of scrubs, and this band is the one with the original singer and drummer. We sound like our records. They sound like a band trying to sound like L.A. GUNS.

PR reports: The B-52's, pioneering dance-rock stars, are exploding on the scene once again with the March 25th, 2008 release of 'Funplex', the band's first studio album in 16 years and the first with the Astralwerks label. Shed the Skin warrants an in depth listen that is ambitious and affecting without being overly sentimental. Soraia are not hopping on any bandwagons, they merely check vintage rock riffs and swathe them into a package that is intoxicating and enthralling. (4.5 stars)
