antiMusic reports: Earlier this month Pierre de Reeder took a step outside his role as the bass player for Rilo Kiley to release his debut solo album, "The Way That It Was." The result is an effort that should satisfy his existing fans as well as open the door to new ones. To celebrate the release we asked Pierre to pick his favorite tracks from the CD and tell us about them. Here is Pierre with today's song: Young & Old - I remember the melody for this song first rattling in my head when walking the street of Athens, GA. It was just that at first, a melody, along with the first line of the song. I didn't really develop it for a while, but was glad that I'd noted the melody on the little voice record of my cell phone. And strangely enough, I added parts here and there kinda doing the same thing... thinking of lines or parts and jotting them down on my phone. I remember a good part of it I put down the caverness sounding bathroom at The Orange Peel in Asheville. Needless to say, we were on tour at the time. But what finally came of this song reflects a lot my own thirty-something kind of experience. Learn more about Pierre, listen to songs from this album and more right

He was also ordered to pay a $483 court fine and return for a follow-up hearing Oct. 3. To which DMX could be heard replying to the judge, "I ain't coming back on f--king Oct. 3." (Miley Cyrus) is just a little too tarty, forgive me. I don't want her to look like she's going into a convent school, but it's just a little too much for a 15-year-old. If I didn't know better, I'd swear she was 25," Gunn told OK! magazine. Not enough? You can read Gunn's frivolous opinion about other people as well. Drop some IQ points and click here for that. Zimmers Hole have issued the following update: "It is with deep regret and totally un-metal sorrow that we must cancel our upcoming US tour with Sigh." why? In fact, they'd probably be impressed. That's right kids, for once, you can believe the hype: 'Your' Metallica are back and they've brought their balls with them this time. So says this review Last but definitely not least, Sonic Youth have begun work on a new album. The band recently completed their contract with Geffen through the release of Rather Ripped in 2006, and will be returning to an independent label.

antiMusic reports: Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash has spoken out about the arrest of a blogger who leaked 9 tracks from Axl's alleged "Chinese Democracy" album. "I hope he rots in jail," Slash told the Los Angeles Times. "It's going to affect the sales of the record, and it's not fair. The Internet is what it is, and you have to deal with it accordingly, but I think if someone goes and steals something, it's theft."What about the leaker? Blabbermouth had this about what Kevin Cogill (a.k.a. Skwerl) faces as well as a statement from the GNR camp: He faces up to three years in prison and $250,000 in fines. On Wednesday he became the first Californian charged under a 3-year-old federal anti-piracy law that makes it a felony to distribute a copyrighted work on computer networks before its release. Guns N' Roses released a statement: "Presently, though we don't support this guy's actions at that level, our interest is in the original source. We can't comment publicly at this time as the investigation is ongoing."

PR reports: The members of Cradle To Grave have been forced to cancel their recently announced tour of the West Coast after the group was detained by the US Department of Homeland Security for suspicion of either sneaking drugs in or attempting to seek work illegally, despite the fact that the band had valid working papers in thier possession. The band was detained for more than 5 hours at the Blaine, WA border facilities, where bored security agents strip searched one of the members, and refused to listen to the band members' own account of why they were there.Singer Greg Cavanagh was held for four hours, then refused entry to the US because of suspicion of "rampant drug use, voluminous encounters with prostitutes and satanism" after the border agents reviewed the band's MySpace page. At one point, guitarist Denis "Sasquatch" Barthe was held at gun point by 5 officers. He was asked to lay down on the ground, was handcuffed and returned to Canada in a U.S. Border Protection vehicle. After almost five hours of screaming, door-slamming and accusations, the rest of the band was asked to return to Canada.

antiMusic reports: Axl Rose can have pretty much his pick of women but a CelebuTab claims that the reclusive Guns N' Roses frontman is lusting after Ozzy's chubby daughter Kelly. NME reports: She may be involved with Luke Worrell, but that didn't stop 46 year-old Axl Rose from pursuing Kelly Osbourne at a recent party, and apparently he made no bones about his feelings about her. Heatherette designer and friend of Kelly's, Richie Rich told a reporter that Axl was "leering" at Osbourne at a recent party in Hollywood to launch a new laundry detergent. [what? The reclusive Axl Rose showed up for a product party?] "He was really weird with her" Rich told OK Magazine "He kept leering at her and saying, "I want to f*** you!." [Is this a friend telling tales to make her friend look better? We hope so.]

PR reports: Founding members of seminal band The Jam, Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler, are bringing their energetic mod-rock back to the US this fall with a string of live dates. The rock legends are joined by Russell Hastings on lead vocals and guitar to complete the trio's line-up as From The Jam. Fans will be able to enjoy the band's brilliant hits, including "This is the Modern World," "The Eton Rifles," "'A' Bomb in Wardour Street," and Going Underground," brought back to the stage with vigor by the scissor-kicking Foxton and crew. Drawing inspiration from The Who and the Sex Pistols, The Jam fused a punk-rock sensibility with the classic mod sound and became one of the most influential acts to come out of the UK. During the band's five-year span, The Jam's moody lyrics connected with disenfranchised youth in songs like "Down in the Tube Station" and "In The City." The power trio kicked off the late 70's mod revival and inspired a legion of British rock bands from The Smiths to Oasis. Current acts like the Kaiser Chiefs, The Futureheads and Supergrass prove just how relevant The Jam remains.

PR reports: Finnish monster-rockers LORDI announced that their fourth studio album, entitled Deadache, will be released in the United States on October 28th, 2008. A new album cycle calls for a new look fantastic (in both senses of the word) costumes designed by Mr Lordi will surely fit the bill! A crucial element of LORDI's appeal has always been the band's monster characters. As is customary for LORDI, the look of each character has been redesigned for the new album. The new costumes, designed by Mr. Lordi will make their in-person debut when LORDI headlines Popkomm in Berlin this October. The anthemic first single off the Nino Laurenne-produced Deadache, "Bite It Like A Bulldog," will be serviced to US radio on October 20th. The song features a powerful bass line and was co-written by Mr. Lordi and bassist Mr. Ox. Other song titles from the upcoming opus include "Man Skin Boots," "Girls Go Chopping," "Ghosts of Heceta Head" and "Dead Bugs Bite." The album has a horror-theme, but a classic rock sound.

Vice reports: Mike Skinner, aka The Streets, will be delivering his fourth album, everything is borrowed October 7th on Vice Records. Applying his homespun hip-hop sensibility to real instruments, Mike comes up with sing-a-long musings on such unconventional subjects as religion ("Alleged Legends"), evolution ("The Way of the Dodo"), biological destiny ("On the Edge of a Cliff"), and male friendship ("The Sherry End"). From the first time people heard The Streets' Mercury Prize-nominated debut Original Pirate Material, they couldn't make their minds up whether the person making this music was black or white, from London or the Midlands, serious or a joker. Having given the world plenty of time to get acclimated, Skinner now rediscovers his old irrepressible buoyancy and takes his trademark stop-start lyrical flow to entirely new places.

antiMusic reports: Megadeth fans will automatically know that a new F5 album is worth checking out since the band features former Megadeth stars David Ellefson and Jimmy DeGrasso, but for other fans of heavy rock music who need convincing we have two special editions of Singled Out for you where Ellefson and frontman Dale Steele tell us about two songs from their new album "The Reckoning" which just hit stores. Today they tell us about "Love is Dead". Here Dale Steele: "Love is Dead"...when I first heard the music I thought, "Thanks a lot Steve (F5's guitarist). This is screwed
what can I write over this riff?!" But, after I actually digested the arrangement I found it easy to write to. The premise is very straight forward. "Love is Dead to me...I am numb like you expected me to be." I hate judgmental people. When you beat me down with your own insecurities, I will become the very thing you detest. Leave me the fuck alone and maybe I won't let you down. Now here is David Ellefson: This is one of the last tracks written for the album in the 11th hour before we commenced the recording session. Our guitarists John Davis and Steve Conley literally wrote the riffs in the studio and then laid them down to a click track just hours before Jimmy DeGrasso walked in to play drums to them! As a result the song has a more complex arrangement with tempo shifts, probably because we couldn't streamline it by rehearsing it to death in a band room for months on end. It has a very old-school, metal vibe about it which is made clear by the opening and middle section guitar riffs. It's one of my favorite tracks on the album! Sounds good huh? Sounds even better when you actually hear the song. Now that you know the story behind the track, go to the following link to check it out and learn more about the album and band, then grab a copy "The Reckoning" for yourself.
