antiMusic reports: Earlier this month Pierre de Reeder took a step outside his role as the bass player for Rilo Kiley to release his debut solo album, "The Way That It Was." The result is an effort that should satisfy his existing fans as well as open the door to new ones. To celebrate the release we asked Pierre to pick his favorite tracks from the CD and tell us about them. Here is Pierre with today's song:Sophia's song - This is one of the oldest songs on the record, written at the time my daughter was born. So right there, it's a very personal note to her. It is also the oldest "basics" track on the record, as I recorded the piano and vocal in my living room a good five years ago, sort of as a demo of the song. Much later, I used that same basic track to add strings (again in the living room), another piano part, and some harmonies. Learn more about Pierre, listen to songs from this album and more right

antiMusic reports: Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine drops some painful news on fans in his latest update. Here is part of what he had to say: I have been struggling with my back for some time, and have been doing yoga, stretching, acupuncture, faith healing, "laying" on of hands, injections, chiropractic, and everything else you can imagine. Two years ago, almost, I went out to my friend in Ohio and went to the OSU Medical center and had MRI's done on my neck and spine for 1 3/4 hours. The next day the Doctor (and I say that reluctantly) said that I had stenosis, and acted like it was just indigestion and went on talking to someone else. Needless to say I was pissed by his cavalier attitude and when he told me that there was nothing I could do except take two Aleve and get used to it I felt doomed. After two more years of destroying my neck and back on tour and ruining my liver from the medication I finally went to the Kieran Jobe Clinic in Anaheim and my Dr. Orr Limpisvasti did more x-rays, and requested I get another series of MRI's done. I was also to be fitted with a brace, and a traction unit, and Physical Therapy. AGAIN WITH THE F**KING PT! This time it's for six months. I went there on Thursday to find out the results of the MRI. This was the day that I find out if I go under the knife or not. Thursday was the day I found out the damage. And oddly enough, ever since I went to the dude Todd Bentley that everyone is saying is a healer; my back has been feeling better. It could be psychosomatic, but I digress. The Doctor came in the room and turned on the lightbox (what they use to view x-rays) and gave me the news. I have been diagnosed with degenerative disk disease and arthritis in my neck and that is what's causing all of the problems in my back.

Chipster reports: Name any current heavy metal band, and they've knowingly or unknowingly borrowed a thing or two from Judas Priest. Having sold millions of albums (including such classics as 'British Steel,''Screaming for Vengeance,' and 'Painkiller'), scored many radio standards ("Breaking the Law," "Living After Midnight," and "You've Got Another Thing Comin'"), and staged numerous sold out tours for decades by this point, you'd think that Judas Priest has accomplished just about everything within the rock stratosphere. But 2008 has seen several firsts for the band – their first-ever concept album (and highest U.S. charting album of their entire career), 'Nostradamus,' as well as their first-ever late night U.S. television performance, on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' which will see Priest play a free outdoor 5 song mini-concert on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 6:15pm in Los Angeles, California. To get your free tickets, visit www.1iota.com for more information. Everyone must be at least 16 years old with a valid ID, and no knapsacks or bags of any kind will be allowed at the outdoor performance (all of this information and more is included when they get tickets). Come witness this sure-to-be unforgettable union of the metal gods and the late night TV god!

PR reports: Chicago, IL deathcore band, Oceano have already had a set of raw and masochistic photos banned from MySpace and the band is now being banned from several clubs around the country, due in part to those very photosThanks to the overwhelming hysteria surrounding Oceano's controversial promo pictures, a large number of messages have been pouring into the band's MySpace page from clubs across the country. Here's an example: "It has been brought to our attention that there were some images of the band that were banned from myspace. Because we are an all ages, family friendly venue we pride ourselves on providing a positive atmosphere for the kids that come in to see shows. Unfortunately, because of those images and the lyrics to the songs we have found there is no way you guys will be able to meet those guidelines" Members of Oceano have been in contact with several local promoters and club owners to try and explain their side of things. However, between the shock of the banned photos and the band's ever-growing reputation as a dangerous live act, Oceano's words have been to little avail. "Everyone's been getting word that we're crazy and our fans are even crazier;" says Oceano guitarist, Andrew Mikhail. "We're pros! We're not out to kill anyone. There are some promoters who have refused to book us because of the type of music we play and how crazy we can make our fans."
