antiMusic reports: Earlier this month Pierre de Reeder took a step outside his role as the bass player for Rilo Kiley to release his debut solo album, "The Way That It Was." The result is an effort that should satisfy his existing fans as well as open the door to new ones. To celebrate the release we asked Pierre to pick his favorite tracks from the CD and tell us about them. Here is Pierre with today's song:I'll Be Around: It's interesting, there are a number of songs that sort of haunt me as I writing them. Maybe haunt is not the right word... it's more they just kind of continually loop in my head, mostly the melody, throughout a day or two and into the night long after I've turned out the light and try to go to sleep. I think it's a good thing, I've found that when that happens it's sort of indicates, to me anyway, that it's worth pursuing. Anyway, this was one of those. Maybe because it's a simple, straight forward kind of song, I don't know. This is one of the ones on the record where I played everything myself. Which is something I've done over the years more as a just a practical way to realize a song as I'm recording at home alone. It's the only song where the drums that I recorded in my basement made it on the record. The others were either re-done or done from scratch at the studio (Kinsize, in Eagle Rock). Learn more about Pierre, listen to songs from this album and more right

antiMusic reports: Welcome to Axl's funhouse, he's got fun and sex games! Apparently there was a lot of hanky panky going on at Axl Rose's house during Guns N' Roses' heyday. This according to a new biography of the group. Page Six previewed the book and reports that the biography contains some rather lurid stories about Axl's "fun and game" where he reportedly "held debauched sex parties at his home — with all female visitors ordered to 'get naked or leave.'" In "Watch You Bleed", Stephen Davis' new bio of the California rockers, Rose recalls, "There was a lot of indoor and outdoor sex . . . People would show up at all hours and we'd talk the girls into climbing into our loft, and somebody would hit the light and go, 'All right! . . . Get naked or leave!' "This one girl, she [bleep]ed almost the whole band, friends of the band, and the band next door. Two days later, she comes back and goes, 'Axl, I'm having your child.' Forget "the Dirt," it sounds like the tale of the real most notorious band in rock n' roll is about to hit shelves.

antiMusic reports: Aaron Lewis finally has something legitimate to whine about: his band Staind has been beaten by a boyband! As if that wasn't bad enough, it looks like the band's string of No. 1 chart debuts has ended with a No. 3 bow for their latest effort. Blabbermouth has the story: According to Hits Daily Double (the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS), Staind's new album, "The Illusion of Progress", is poised to sell around 95,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release to debut in the Top 3 of The Billboard 200 chart. Hollywood's teenpop heartthrobs Jonas Brothers will occupy the No. 1 in their second week on the chart. The new Jonas Brothers album sold 525,000 copies in its first week, entering the chart on Wednesday (August 20) at No. 1. Even if they sell half that amount in their second week, Staind guitarist Mike Mushok said, "Half of that is more than what we'll sell, and it's good for those guys." Mushok added, "All I can say is, we've been here for 10 years, and this is our sixth record. I feel proud to be able to say that. If it's not No. 1, it's not No. 1 — what are you going to do?" Frontman Aaron Lewis said about the Jonas Brothers phenomenon, "It's just a different version of the boy-band thing all over again...It's Hanson 2008, with Disney behind them...How do you compete with that?"

TMZ reports: Diddy was introduced to the barrel of a gun early Sun morning. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ at around 3:00 AM, Puff Daddy, aka Diddy, aka Sean "Puffy" Combs, aka Sean Combs, was being driven by an entourage on the Sunset Strip. One of the cars didn't have proper tags and deputies from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department made the stop. We're told the other three cars in the entourage stopped as well. It's Sheriff Dept. policy to call for backup when other cars linger at a traffic stop. Backup arrived and the driver of the second car became "extremely uncooperative," to the point he had to be detained. At that point, Diddy and the remaining five or six members of the entourage got out of their cars and began walking toward the detained member of their posse. That's when one deputy drew his weapon, not knowing what the dudes were up to. We're told at the time the weapon was drawn, deputies did not know Diddy was part of the group.
