antiMusic reports: Alternative rockers ism's great new sophomore album 'Urgency,' just hit stores last week and to celebrate the release we asked frontman Andre Mistier to tell us a little about his five favorite tracks. Andre went well beyond the call of duty! So let's cut this intro short and let Andre tell you about today's song: Fly: This one is really important to me. I wrote the chorus a few years ago, knew what the song was about, but had to wait until the right way to say it came along. This song is about the fundamental contract between individuals and society. We all give up some individual rights in order to get some benefits as a group. On the simplest level, I agree not to kill the other people in this group, and together we will be able to hunt better and for bigger prey, or we'll be able to band together and farm, in order to ensue that all of us have more food and security. Small individual sacrifice for big group gains. Now, it doesn't seem like we've done a fantastic job of getting rid of world hunger or of ending fighting and war, does it? So, society hasn't fulfilled its end of the bargain. If we're going to have a society, isn't the whole purpose to make sure that everyone has at the least food and safety? When I think of these big goals for humanity, I always think of flight. In my mind, humans have wanted to fly for as long as we could dream. And I don't mean airplanes, I mean straight up fliying. To be honest, when I was a kid I really expected there would be at the least flying cars by the time I was an adult. Didn't you? So, for what we've given, what have we got? We can't even fly!

Blabbermouth has today's entry: Lenny Kravitz has shot down as false Internet reports that he is set to become the new singer of Velvet Revolver. The singer told RollingStone.com, "I know and love the Velvet Revolver guys but there is no truth to the story about me joining their band." The UK's The Sun claimed that Kravitz was "spotted" in the studio with the now-singer-less Velvet Revolver and a quoted a "source" as saying, "Velvet Revolver's new album will draw heavily on their messy split with [former singer] Scott [Weiland].

Banana, known for his outrageous interviews with rockers and other celebrities, has written a new song parody exclusively for this project. The song is a comedic take on the Gene Simmons/Vinnie Vincent classic "Unholy," rewritten as a roast of Danger Danger vocalist Ted Poley. Despite its humorous overtones, the track is an appropriately heavy recreation of the Kiss original, featuring a guitar solo by Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), guitars and bass by Paul LaPlaca (Zandelle, Z02, Chris Caffery solo band), drums by Dennis Leeflang (Sun Caged, Epica, Bumblefoot solo band) and background vocals by Kelli McCloud (Queen of the Reich) and Vic Rivera (AdrianGale, Crunch, Poley/Rivera). Finally we offer a overall answer to a few emails we received about yesterday's story "Another Bon Jovi Song Theft Accusation" we will reiterate that the claims were made by a musician who emailed a statement to SleazeRoxx.com. Unlike last week's story about Boston rocker Bart Steele, who claims that Bon Jovi stole his Red Sox tribute song, we did not have access to links to the actual songs where you could compare the compositions and judge for yourself. Also the claims made by the musician in yesterday's report about members of Bon Jovi listening to demos by unsigned bands in order to steal their music was clearly hearsay as he was just passing on a claim that he heard from another person. So take those claims for what they are worth. If we are informed about samples of the original composition being made available online we will pass those on to you so you can hear and make your own judgment about the claims of song theft. With all of that said, Bart Steele let us know that he has penned a new "Boston" song and posted it online. You can check out "Can't Keep Us Down" at

antiMusic reports: Today's music business 101 lesson is that overblown hype does not sell inflated concert tickets. Case in point is Motley Crue's stab at a packaged summer tour, which was hyped as "colossal" and "one of the biggest music announcements of the year." According to Blabbermouth, Billboard has revealed the attendance records for a number of stops for this summer's Cruefest; the fest the package tour featuring Motley Crue, Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Trapt and Sixx: AM. Save for Detroit Rock City, almost all of the of the venues were only half-filled when this tour rolled through the various towns. The July 15th stop at the 15,601 capacity DTE Energy Music Center in Clarkston, MI was the only sellout reported. The Houston, TX show at 11,666 capacity Toyota Center came close to selling out as well with a reported 10,347 in attendance, but the bigger venues on the tour didn't produce the results the hype led us to expect. In fact, the tour played to half capacity venues for most of the tour. In Dallas they sold 12,155 tickets out of a possible 20,033. In Selma they sold 9,252 tickets out of a possible 19,921. In Maryland Heights, MO they sold 10,908 tickets out of a possible 20,950. In Noblesville, IN they sold 15,012 tickets out of a possible 24,680. antiMusic reports: Queen + Paul Rodgers have announced that they will release their debut studio album "The Cosmos Rocks" world wide on September 15, 2008. However, that release date does not include North America. The press release did not include the U.S. release date but Amazon is showing that it will hit U.S. shelves on October 14, 2008.Coinciding with the release of The Cosmos Rocks, Queen + Paul Rodgers embark on a 33-date Europe and Northern Eurasia tour beginning mid-September. The tour reaches the UK on October 10 with 11 dates including two at London 02 and the tour's final date at Wembley Arena on November 8. Here is the press release with details about the release (followed by a link to preview clips): The first thing you notice about The Cosmos Rocks, the much anticipated first album from rock legends Queen + Paul Rodgers is "all tracks written by Queen and Paul Rodgers"…"produced and performed by Brian May, Paul Rodgers and Roger Taylor" (indicating that between them they played all instruments, including bass - Paul and Brian swapping duties - in case you were going to ask). This is obviously not a case of Rodgers lightly stepping in to fill a vocal gap, as some might have been drawn to assume would be the case when the three of them got into the studio together.

antiMusic reports: This summer we're taking you on tour vicariously with some of today's best bands. We continue with the Mayhem Festival with this entry from Five Finger Death Punch's Matt Snell:I'm gonna go ahead and say the title of the tour should have been .. "after party". See, on this run every band hosts a sponsored after party at one stop along the tour. The folks at mayhem give you a nice budget to work with and you get to theme your party. The parties seem to get more creative as the tour passes .... from The Dragonforce Hawaiian party to 5fdp's karate inspired party..."relax...no one was hurt"... except for the victims of my patented .. five finger DEATHPUNCH ... a drink only the insiders will ever taste...hahahaha .. Disturbed right now hold the #1 spot on the people to damage ratio...."again.. no one was hurt" LOL ... but Slipknot's party is yet to come...I'm sure they will pull out all the stops. On a personal note.. the tour seems to be getting bigger at every stop. Gaining momentum at a pace I don't think anyone was prepared for. There are only a few stops left so my advice.... beg borrow or steal your way to this show.... Five Finger Death Punch are on the Mayhem Festival supporting their latest release "The Way of the Fist". Now go grab dates and hear why you should grab tix to this tour
