Parkouring 3 Doors Down
Total Assault reports: 3 Doors Down are unveiling their new video for their hit song, "It's Not My Time" on Vh1.com today. The groundbreaking clip was helmed by acclaimed director Shaun Silva. Known for unfolding videos via storytelling, Silva, who has shot videos with Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson and Sugarland among others, was eager to work with 3 Doors. Filmed in Cincinnati, OH while the band was on tour last month, the video features a much heralded 'movement' technique called 'Parkouring.'

Parkouring has become a growing subculture phenomenon via YouTube, and was first discovered by a WWI French Naval officer during his experiences with the indigenous tribes of Africa. The Officer spent time studying people who were able to combine their natural physical skills with quickness-of-body techniques designed to gain ground with the least amount of energy expended.

Currently considered a respected discipline ala the marital arts, Parkour practitioners often utilize the technique as a time-saving maneuver during emergencies. The band's desire to shed a light on Parkouring is the first time this mysterious practice will be featured in a music video. - Watch it here

Too Much Mayhem for Blasphemer
Blabbermouth reports: Mayhem guitarist/songwriter Blasphemer (a.k.a. Rune Eriksen) has decided to leave the legendary Norwegian black metal band. His statement on the matter reads as follows:

"It is with these written words that I hereby retract myself from my position as the guitar player of MAYHEM. The main reason behind this conclusion lies in the fact that I simply don't see any future for me in the band anymore, at least not a future I'd like to participate in over the coming years.

"I've been playing my part in the band now for more than 13 years already, having composed, produced and released several albums with great vision, dedication and craftsmanship, to arrive at this crossroad of opposites. Sooner or later, all things comes to an end, and in my case, this circle is complete." - more on this story

KISS Fans Don't Want New Music
antiMusic reports: Paul Stanley reveals in a new interview that he thinks the Rock Hall of Fame is a crock and he also feels that KISS fans would rather buy the same songs over and over again with a different album cover than have a new studio album.

Q: Are there more KISS tours or a new album on the horizon? * A: "We just did some massive shows in Australia and New Zealand, and in three weeks we're heading to Europe. So, KISS is alive and ready to blind you, deafen you and pummel you into submission (laughs). A new album? We're asked about it, but we know fans don't really want new material. I could write the next 'Let It Be' and people would say, 'That's great. Play 'Love Gun.'' And we're happy to do that."

Q: Why hasn't KISS been elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? * A: Because the people who own it are part of what I call the East Coast Music Mafia, and their opinions don't really reflect rock fans' in general. Unfortunately, it's a sham with a very official-sounding name." - more on this story

Richie Ramone Tossed Out Of Court
antiMusic reports: First the KKK took his baby away and now a US judge took Richie Ramone's money away. AP has the report: A federal judge has tossed out a lawsuit by a former Ramones drummer who says he was cheated out of royalties.

U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin said in a ruling Friday that a contract Richard "Richie Ramone" Reinhardt signed when he performed with the Ramones between 1983 and 1987 clearly covered digital uses of his songs.

She noted that the contract defining phonograph records contained the words "now or hereafter known" when referring to forms of reproduction, making it clear that future technologies are covered by the agreement. - more on this story

Kataklysm Prevail With New CD and Tour Plans
PR reports: Northern hyperblast is back with a bang on Prevail, the ninth studio release from prolific Canadian brutalists, Kataklysm. In stores on May 27th.

Once again, the production process was supervised by the band's guitarist J-F Dagenais, and the mix was pounded out by the one and only Jason Suecof (Chimaira, Trivium, Bury Your Dead), so it's appropriately hefty and punishing. Joining in for some special guest shredding on Prevail is Pat O'Brien of Cannibal Corpse, Overkill's Dave Linsk, and, of course, Suecof himself.

Over the next week, the band is winding down a successful tour with Shadows Fall and labelmates Arsis. They'll then have May to recharge their batteries before headlining a handful of Canadian dates and joining The Black Dahlia Murder and Vader on the massive Summer Slaughter tour, which kicks off on June 20th and churns through the US for a month. - more on this story

Stone Temple Recording Plans
Metal Underground reports: According to Gary Graff from Billboard.com, some new STONE TEMPLE PILOTS music may be in the offing, but it's not likely to surface until after the reunited rockers finish touring later this year.

"I think new material will come probably after this tour," bassist Robert DeLeo tells Billboard.com. "I think the whole thing now is kind of getting back and re-acclimating ourselves to the songs that we know. I think that's gonna make for a better atmosphere and better performances ... instead of doing a new record.

"Then, after this tour finishes, I think we're gonna be in a position where we've gotten to know each other again, and I think it's gonna be time to hit the studio." - more on this story

Ben Weaver Gets Bloodshot
PR reports: Ben Weaver has signed a multi-album deal with Bloodshot Records, with his label debut set for release August 12, 2008. The Axe and the Oak is Weaver's 6th album at the ripe old age of 27; it is by far his most adventurous to date.

Weaver explains, "The majority of this record was written in Berlin, the summer of 2007. I was staying in a friend's flat in Prenzlauer Berg. I had many pictures in my head at that time. This record is not about Berlin, but about what being in Berlin allowed me to create." Produced by Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine), the album juxtaposes electronic musical sounds with warm acoustic instruments with textural results that defy the usual expectations of the singer/songwriter genre. It's hard to argue with the results - evocative, hushed songs that illuminate Ben's affinity for the natural world of birds, phone booths, empty parking lots, strangers in the checkout line, plastic bags stuck in trees and whatever else typically goes unnoticed in the sidewalk cracks. - more on this story

Babs Snubs Israel Obligation
AP reports: Barbra Streisand has pulled out of Israel's 60th anniversary celebration next month because of "personal obligations."

Streisand was among the celebrities set to appear at a Jerusalem convention hosted by Israeli President Shimon Peres beginning May 13.

"Ms. Streisand, a devoted supporter of Israel since her earliest youth, very regrettably was compelled to advise President Peres' office two weeks ago that personal obligations would prevent her participation in Israel's 60th anniversary celebration," Streisand's Los Angeles-based publicist Dick Guttman told The Associated Press on Tuesday. - more on this story

Jason Yudoff?s Sophomore Album
PR reports: May 13th has been set as the official release date for New York native JASON YUDOFF?s sophomore album ??Tragic Hero?? (Scratched Vinyl). ??Hero?? features rollicking piano jams, smooth grooves and emotional songs of longing, incompleteness and self-discovery. From behind his keyboard, YUDOFF has crafted a confessional album that makes the listener contemplate relationships while simultaneously getting up and dancing.

For ??Tragic Hero?? YUDOFF worked with producer Ron Thaler and Scott Hull (Steely Dan, John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen) who did the mastering to combine aspects of 2004?s ??Smoke, Sex, Water ??(which made it to the preliminary Grammy ballot in 2005) and 2006?s ??LIVE at the Cutting Room?? into an album that captures the electricity of his live show and introspective songwriting.

Discussing why he chose to name his album ??Tragic Hero?? YUDOFF says: ?The flawed hero is the central character in a lot of classic literature, and like a lot of authors, I write from a personal place. I am usually the protagonist in my songs, just as we are all the main characters in our own life stories.? [what's with all the ????s ? We reposted this exactly how it was sent to us (except we added the paragraph breaks back in). Here is our public service announcement for today: Fancy email formatting looks really pretty on your screen, but it may not look so hot on anyone else's, while plain text can be read by ANYONE!] - more on this story

The band has added another NYC dated, Mercury Lounge on May 16, and this marks the band's first trip to the west coast. [New York City is on the west coast now???? . Andy Browne Trio
Browne's ability to pull stories from the dark side and tell them in a witty but not wordy way begs for comparison to some of the best work of Warren Zevon and "Of Human Bondage" is particularly Zevon-esque. (4 stars) - Read the full Andy Browne Trio review
