Zeppelin To Announce Reunion Wed?
antiMusic reports: The rumor of a Led Zeppelin reunion just got a major boost with reports that the band was spotted touring the venue, dropping a hint online and will hold a press conference on Wed where they are expected to announce their imminent reunion.

It may just be a case of reading a lot more into things then are really there but Billboard issued a report that a date posted on Ledzeppelin.com may have something to with the reunion rumors. They also are the only ones reporting that Led Zeppelin are going to hold a press conference on Wednesday in London and hinted that it might have something to do with the reunion rumors swirling around the band. As if that wasn't enough fuel for the fire, they also report that the band was spotted touring the O2 arena (the rumored site of the reunion) during recent a Prince show at the venue.

If you visit Ledzeppelin.com you will now be greeted with four member symbols made famous on the Led Zeppelin IV album cover but directly beneath the symbols 11.13.07 is printed. This may or may not have anything to do with a reunion as that is the date that "Mothership," the new 24 track compilation album will be released by Atlantic/Rhino.- more on this story

Disney OK's Nude Photos
antiMusic reports: High School Musical nude photos are ok with studio bosses. Things sure have changed at Disney since Walt passed away. Even a few years ago if nude photos of one of their stars surfaced, said star would get the boot. Now all the star has to do is issue an apology. Now all the star has to do is issue an apology. Keep in mind that this is the same Disney that is censoring metal bands at the House of Blues at Disneyland.

Rumors flew over the weekend that Disney had fired High School Musical actress Vanessa Hudgens after nude photos of the 18-year-old starlet surfaced online. She supposedly snapped the photos for her boyfriend and co-star Zac Efron but someone got their hands on them and posted them online, according to Contact Music.

She of course issued a statement. "I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me," Hudgens said in the statement. "I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends."- more on this story

Kanye Vs 50 Cent on TV
AP reports: "Yo! We both have new albums coming out, let's say we get together, create a fake feud or something to help sales?" Ok, we don't know if that really happened but it wouldn't be the first time a bogus hip-hop feud was used to "hype" cds. This time around Kanye and Fiddy are battling it out for the top of the charts. Seems that they'll take the television airwaves and try and convince people to buy their respective CDs. What is getting more hype now? The CDs or this TV thing?

AP has the report: Like candidates trying to sway voters on Election Day, Kanye West and 50 Cent will appear on BET's "106 & Park" on Tuesday, when both their heavily anticipated albums hit the stores. West and 50 Cent have hyped the albums as an epic battle of rap titans — 50 Cent has said he'd retire if West's "Graduation" outsells his "Curtis" CD in their first week out.

BET is treating the Tuesday-evening event like a top heavyweight fight, even borrowing Stuart Scott from ESPN to deliver a statistical breakdown of the two rappers. Both are set to perform, but whether they will engage in a rap battle remains to be seen.- more on this story

Foxy Brown Gets A Year in Jail
antiMusic reports: Pete Doherty is lucky he lives in the UK where he can get arrested every other week for drug offenses and run free to get arrested again without spending a day in jail. If he lived in New York he'd likely be in jail. We say this because that's exactly where Foxy Brown will be spending the next year after a judge sentenced the rapper for violating her probation.

Contact Music reports: The 28-year-old was told by a New York judge that she had acted as if her celebrity status placed her above the law. Brown – real name Inga Marchand – was found to have missed anger management classes and failed to have stayed out of trouble since assaulting two nail salon stylists three years ago

At a hearing last month, Judge Melissa Jackson jailed the singer until yesterday's court appearance, and the rapper told the court: "Being in jail humbled me in a way I never imagined. I realise that this is not where I want to be." But Judge Jackson countered that her apology came as "too little, too late".- more on this story

CMJ Vs Indie Fest
antiMusic reports: It all started when a few indie artists felt that the CMJ fest was a bit too corporate in their eyes. So they decided to set up their own "counter" music fest, organized entirely by the artists without corporate sponsorships, pay to play etc. They dubbed the outing the unCMJfest. Then something went terribly wrong, CMJ's lawyers caught wind of what was happening and took a bit of an exception to them using the CMJ name and logo as part of their event. So they sent them a love letter. As a result the music fest has now changed their name and had their original Myspace page deleted.

The unCMJfest is now the un C. em J. Music Fest. But their mission statement remains the same: Who needs "style guilds" of "music journalists" taking money from the musicians to rent space and then sell advertising for a profit???!

The unCMJ Music Fest is about music, not marketing opportunities. A large portion of the event aims to be ALL AGES (unlike CMJ). It is scheduled to take place on October 19th and 20th in Williamsburg, Bushwick, and Greenpoint, Brooklyn.- more on this story including the love letter

U2 PopMart DVD
PR reports: U2's PopMart Live from Mexico City will be released on DVD on 18th September 2007. Filmed at the Foro Sol Autodromo in Mexico City on 3rd December 1997, PopMart Live from Mexico City was directed by David Mallet and first released on video the following year; this is the first time it has been released on DVD.

Described as a sci-fi disco supermarket, the PopMart Tour opened in its "spiritual home", Las Vegas on 25th April 1997. All trash and kitsch, PopMart introduced a giant mirrorball lemon, a 100ft cocktail stick - complete with olive, and the works of Lichtenstein, Warhol and Haring, to a live rock audience: a production experience never quite seen before.

Originally filmed on analogue video, the film has been transferred to a digital format with re-graded and cleaned pictures. Great care has been taken to maintain the original look by simply enhancing it, with an added degree of sharpness and contrast unavailable when originally filmed. The audio has also been re-mastered and mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound.

PopMart Live from Mexico City will be available in two formats: a Standard 1-disc format containing the concert, and a Special Limited Edition 2-disc format- more info on that and complete track info

Maynard's Cuntry Boner
RED Artist Development reports: Puscifer, Maynard James Keenan's (Tool, Cadaceus) side project, out Oct. 30th through Red. Here is a note from Maynard, just describing a little bit more about the band:

Puscifer is Maynard's multifaceted, multimedia, multi-artist, multi-personality project. It involves film, music, digital video, garments, feminine hygiene products, coffee, pet supplies, websites, blogs, artist collaborations, a few office supplies, and a grip on the idea that chaos is good and that change is inevitable. Just a few of the artists who have passed through these confusing gates: Mat Mitchell, Tim Alexander, Lei Li, Jonny Polonsky, Cherie Roberts, Ainjel Emme, Brandon Bryant, Danny Lohner, Josh Eustis, Gil and Rani Sharone, Lustmord, Laura Milligan, Meats Meier, Evil Joe Barresi, Trey Gunn, Milla Jovovich, Lisa Germano, Tim Cadiente, Ford Englerth, Jeffrey Brooks, Micah, Alan Moulder, Eddie McClintock, Joe Nagy, Nipples Creelman, Devo. The list goes on.

So why this new project? Dare we ask? "I'm on a mission. I've been assigned to be the guardian of a highly classified, highly effective Sonic Weapon of Mass Disruption. This sonic technology when 'unleashed,' if you will, causes parts of the anatomy to vibrate uncontrollably. Not unlike when someone yawns, everyone in the surrounding area will be affected. If executed properly, the subjects will be temporarily distracted from their duties. Their bodies will appear to be abducted by the Soul Train, as if J-Lo were auditioning for the 'Thriller' video. Awe inspiring. Don't speak a word of it." Check out a video for Puscifer "cuntry boner" that Maynard put together as well- right here

Radiohead Finish New CD
antiMusic reports: Radiohead may not have a record deal but they do have a new record. This according to their guitarist who told a magazine last week that the famed band has finally completed recording their new studio album.

Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood says that the band is considering their options at the moment so no firm release date or guess at one is available at the moment. They finished their contract with EMI with the release of 'Hail To The Thief' in 2003 and opted not to renew their deal with the music giant.

"We just had a meeting about that today," Greenwood told Paste Magazine last week. "We're very relieved to have finished recording, now we have to decide what we should do with it."

The Ataris Go Grassroots For Tour
antiMusic reports: Our friends The Ataris kicked off an North American tour on Friday. What makes this outing special, aside from the good time and good music, is that it was the fans that help put it together with the band via their Myspace page and they did a pretty impressive job at that! They are also getting local bands involved at each stop. Here is the official announcement they sent over:

We The Ataris are officially announcing our U.S. / Canada tour for September and October! All of these shows were booked by us the band via our myspace page. Giving our fans the opportunity to personally book The Ataris in their town. All of the shows will be held at very personal, intimate venues. And for each show we will be letting 2- 3 of the best local bands open up the show.

The setlist on this tour will be comprised mostly of older songs from our early records "Blue Skies.", "So Long, Astoria" and "End is Forever". This will set us up to begin recording our next full length record as soon as we return home. So far all of the songs are actually sounding like something that could be on one of those three records! Expect the new album in early 2008- more including the dates

Britney's Comeback Bombs
PR reports: Britney Spears had hoped for a comeback. The poptart opened Sunday's night's MTV Video Music Awards with a lip-synced "performance" of her new single "Gimme More". But unlike the famous Madonna and Britney kiss from a few years ago everyone that actually tuned in will be talking about this "performance" for a very different reason. Britney sucked!

We here at the Day in Rock didn't tune in since what they try to pass off as music there seldom lives up to the name unless you are a fan of autotune, over production and insipid lyrics, so we can't give you a first hand account but a reporter from AP was able to stomach the show and reports that Britney was in bottom form and "looked bleary and unprepared.'

The AP roast goes further than that. Here is a little taste, "She lazily walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching; and, perhaps most unforgivable given her once taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape."- Read the full AP report

MMM I Like That Song, Who Is it By?
antiMusic reports: Chicago radio listeners unwittingly became hardcore Hanson fans. Tis true, a alternative rock DJ felt that the much hated MMMBoppers have been given a raw deal and that if people were able to hear the new music alone without the image and historical boyband baggage, they would in fact take the band seriously. Turns out he was right.

Billboard reports: Listeners tuning in to Chicago alternative rock station WKQX (Q101) on August 9 heard a catchy, guitar-driven track called "The Great Divide," followed by an announcement that the song was produced by a "mystery artist." It quickly became the most-requested song on the station and was put into power rotation by the programming department.

After three weeks of speculation, a DJ finally revealed the secret: The band behind the alt-rock hit was none other than Hanson, a trio of brothers best known for their pop-rock song "MMMBop," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in 1997.- more on this story

Snow Patrol Lawsuit
antiMusic reports: You would think that if you quit a group you wouldn't be able to demand payment for work you are no longer doing. Not so, if you are the former bassplayer for Snow Patrol. He is now seeking to still get paid by the band.

Gigwise has the report: Snow Patrol's former bassist Mark McClelland is suing the band for earnings since he left the band due to "creative differences".

McClelland has lauched a writ at the High Court claiming a quarter of all earnings since leaving the band in 2005, according to the News Of The World.
