antiMusic reports: Could the long rumored
Led Zeppelin reunion really be happening? First it was an anonymous source
saying that Plant, Page, and Jones were in talks for a one-off reunion
show and now apparently Robert Plant is talking to random people on the
street and confirming the reunion. Of course another anonymous source now
claims to also know the date of such a reunion.
In a story that's a bit hard to believe,
someone emailed NME.com saying that he or she spoke to Robert Plant in
London on Wednesday and the Led Zeppelin frontman confirmed the reunion
plans and said that he was on his way to a meeting with Jimmy Page and
John Paul Jones.
The fan reportedly walked up to Plant and
asked him about the reunion and maybe Robert has been on a deserted island
this past week as the rumor mill has been churning at full speed because
he reportedly asked the fan, "How did you find out about this?" And even
more unbelievable he supposedly told the fan, "Well we've got a band meeting
about it this afternoon about it. There's not a lot to work out as it's
only going to be one-off gig."- more

antiMusic reports: Blogs are burning up with
speculation that one of Rihanna's songs is nothing but a blatant rip off
a New Order hit. A YouTuber caught the similarities in the songs and decided
that mash-up evidence was in order so he produced a pretty amazing mix
of the two songs/videos.
While this shouldn't be very surprising
to anyone given the derivative and unoriginal nature of modern R&B
these days, one person going by the name of usernamemyarse on YouTube decided
that video proof was needed and put together Rihanna's "Shut up and Dance"
with the New Order hit "Blue Monday" to show people how much of rip off
it appears to be.
The main part of the video is the New Order
song playing over Rihanna's video with parts of the her song synching perfectly
with "Blue Monday". What happened to the R&B tradition in the modern
age? It appears to be just as bad as almost every other area of entertainment
from movies to TV, with inferior copies of the original being presented
as something new.
- But
judge for yourself.

fell out of a window while sleepwalking and broke his back and heal. He
is expected to recover but it will take time causing the band to cancel
their planned homecoming show.
Mick Quinn was staying in a villa in the
south of France and sleepwalked out of a ground floor window. The bass
player and vocalist broke two vertebrae and smashed his heel according
to the BBC.
He was taken to spinal unit in Toulouse
and a specialist operated to repair the broken vertebrae and heal. While
he is expected to make a full recovery from the injuries, the recovery
will take several months. Luckily the band only has one gig scheduled in

AP reports: Jeffrey Carter Albrecht, a keyboard
player for the band Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, was shot to death
early Monday while trying to kick in the door of his girlfriend's neighbor,
police said.
The neighbor believed a burglar was trying
to break in and fired a shot through the door around 4 a.m., Dallas police
spokesman Sgt. Gil Cerda said.
"He was at his girlfriend's house last
night," said Danny Balis, Albrecht's roommate. "He left the house and went
next door and - for whatever reason, which we don't know - he knocked on
the neighbor's door. And from what I understand, he was persistent. I don't
know if there was a verbal exchange, but the person panicked and fired
a shot through the door."

antiMusic reports: Klaxons have won the 2007
Mercury Prize. They beat out stiff competition from Amy Winehouse, Arctic
Monkeys, Dizzee Rascal and more with their Geffen debut Myths of the Near
Future. They also plan to give the cash prize to charity.
When receiving the award bassist/vocalist
Jamie Reynolds stated "The Mercury Prize is about pushing music forward
and this is what we did." Reynolds also said the band was "stunned'' because
of the competition from Winehouse and the Arctic Monkeys especially. "A
year ago today we were in the studio recording our album and watching the
Arctic Monkeys win the Mercury,'' Reynolds said, "...we did not imagine
that we would ever follow them or at least not so soon.''-

antiMusic reports: Just when you thought R.Kelly
was finally going to get his day in court over those child porn charges,
the case has been delayed once again. But this time it's because of the
prosecution.
Jam! Reports: Five years after being charged
with child pornography, the R&B star's trial had been set to start
on September 17. But a Cook County judge has postponed it because the lead
prosecutor had a baby recently.
Kelly was charged in 2002 and is accused
of engaging in videotaped sex acts with an underage girl. Since his arrest,
the case has been hit with numerous delays. A new date hasn't been set.

antiMusic reports: As we reported a couple
weeks ago Van Halen's snubbing of founding bass player Michael Anthony
has gone beyond not inviting him to participate in the reunion, the band
also removed his songwriting credits from the 1984 album and briefly removed
his image from the album art on their official site, replacing it with
Eddie's son Wolfgang. Now Anthony reveals that the bad blood reaches back
to before the band's 2004 reunion with Sammy Hagar.
In a new interview, Anthony says that he
found out about the current reunion with David Lee Roth online and confirmed
the rumor that Eddie Van Halen tried to keep him from taking part in the
band's 2004 reunion with Sammy Hagar. He explained where the bad blood
came from. "[Eddie] was always put off that I was going out and playing
with Sammy when we weren't doing anything. It wasn't like I was doing it
to spite anybody. I was just tired of sitting at home and doing nothing,"
Anthony tells Rolling Stone. "Sammy asked me one day if I would like to
come out and maybe make an appearance at one or two of [his] shows and
have some fun, and I said, 'Yeah, great.' It kind of snowballed into me
coming out and doing a few songs with him here and there."-

antiMusic reports: Opera legend Pavarotti
has lost his battle with cancer. While this has nothing to do with rock
he was a loved musical figure and we couldn't let his death go without
a mention. Fans gathered to mourn his passing. Here is a part of Jam!'s
story:
Admirers massed by the hundreds in Modena's
main piazza Thursday night to pay their final respects to Luciano Pavarotti,
the tenor cherished by many as "the last, great voice" of Italian opera.
The crowd applauded as pallbearers carried
the white casket into the cathedral, where a funeral Saturday will draw
dignitaries from opera, politics and culture. The tenor died early Thursday
in his hometown at age 71 after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.-

antiMusic reports: Hot Topic Records aka Roadrunner
informs us that Mickey Mouse has nixed Machine Head's show at the Anaheim
House of Blues (the world's absolute WORST concert venue). Seems the kiddies
think metal isn't kosher (which is surprising, you'd think the mallcore
label and Disney would be a natural fit with the same demo goals.) Due
to this development, Live Nation has changed the venue to the Glasshouse
in Pomona (a short 70 miles away according to the brainiacs at Hot Topic
Records but realistically it's only 25.66 miles. oops shouldn't have hired
Goofy to write your PR) Tickets are supposedly being honored there, check
the band's website for more info.
Aerosmith are heading into the studio on
Nov 1st to begin recording a new album. "I'm not sure who the producer
is gonna be or what (studio) we're gonna do it in," Perry tells Billboard.com.
"We may use a few different producers. I don't know. All I know is that
the heart and soul of the thing is us getting in the studio and seeing
what comes out."
Filter reports that Ian Ball of Gomez has
announced plans to release a solo record. The album, titled Who Goes There,
was recorded with cohorts Will Golden (his co-producer) and keyboardist
Phil Krohnengold (Duncan Sheik, Ween) after a weekend of drinking and jamming
on songs. [They didn't provide a release date.]
Josh Newton has left From Autumn To Ashes.
As a result original bassist Mike Pilato has rejoined the group.
We end with a little PR blurb we got in
the inbox: Motocross legend, reality TV star, Pink's husband- Carey Hart
is known as all three. Hart recently embarked on a solo journey to this
year's Warped Tour, check out the video featuring a candid interview with
the superstar as well as footage of Hart performing on-stage with Pennywise.-
