Fall Out Ashlee Duet
punkbands reports: When it comes to mixing recording and romance, things can get tricky. Ashlee Simpson is hoping that her romance won’t go the way of Jessica and Nick when she records with boyfriend Pete Wentz. We’ll see. It has been reported that for her new album, Ashlee will be bringing some romance into the recording booth. Simpson, 22, has been working hard on the follow up to 2005’s “I am me”.

To bring a little extra star power to the new record, she has invited Fall Out Boy’s bassist/exhibitionist Pete Wentz to join her on tape. She has secretly recorded a song with Pete, 27, that she’s hoping to include on her CD, which comes out later this year. [can't wait for the video. Sting a Pansy?

Copeland posts an in depth critique of the band’s Vancouver gig – the second stop on their comeback tour - on his official website after a slew of miscues and mishaps resulted in what he describes as an "ubeLIEVably [sic] lame" show.

He mocks bandmate Sting for a mistimed dramatic leap, observing that he looked like "a petulant pansy instead of the god of rock." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Zappa's First Recordings Set For Release
PR reports: Crossfire Publications, is in the process of releasing a series of recordings from the pre- and post-Mothers of Invention eras, with many unreleased tracks featured. The Pal Recording Studios recordings are of enormous historical value, as they were Frank Zappa's very first studio tracks. The symbiotic relationship Zappa had with Paul Buff and Pal formed the core of his later output.

Paul Buff and Frank Zappa pioneered many of the recording techniques and musical styles that continue on today by using the studio itself as a dynamic music instrument, rather than a static capture environment. At Pal, the classic divide between engineer and musician was non-existent.

As the most anticipated releases in Crossfire's release schedule, the Pal Recording Studios CD series was developed by Crossfire's owner Greg Russo along with Paul Buff , owner of the Cucamonga, California-based studio from 1957-1964. This exclusive series will feature many highly prized rarities and unreleased tracks drawn from Paul Buff's mixdown tapes and reference discs.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Idol Gets Hacked
Contact Music reports: Country singer CARRIE UNDERWOOD's page on online networking website MySpace.com has been hacked by a mobile phone ringtone promotion.

Over the last 24 hours, fans of the American star have been receiving emails claiming to be from Underwood herself, urging them to check out "these amazing free ringtones", reports website TMZ.com.

The spam emails read: "Hey, this is Carrie Underwood. OK here's the deal, I need every single MySpace friend to stop what he/she's doing and go here right now and put your cell # in. You'll receive every ringtone from every myspace artist (including my favourites)..." [wow when did she start using British spelling? Court Says FU to FCC
Contact Music reports: A federal appeals court on Monday overturned the FCC's revised standards for determining indecency, when it ruled in favor of News Corp's Fox television network, which had been chastised by the commission for airing four-letter vulgarities during telecasts of the 2002 and 2003 Billboard Music Awards.

Besides the incidents on Fox, the court also suggested that an expletive uttered by Bono during the NBC telecast of the 2002 Golden Globe Awards did not warrant FCC censure.

The decision was immediately denounced by FCC Chairman Kevin Martin [see the full story for what that windbag had to say. Hint: he'd have to fine himself if he said it on TV] [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

AC/DC Drummer Beats Wife Assault Charge
Sleazeroxx.com reports: The drummer of rock band AC/DC has escaped a criminal conviction because it would hurt his career - despite admitting he assaulted his former partner in Mount Maunganui.

Phillip Rudd, who was born Phillip Hugh Norman Witschke Rudzevecuis, pleaded guilty to one charge of common assault when he appeared in Tauranga District Court yesterday.

The self-employed musician pleaded guilty after police reduced the charge from the more serious offence of male assaults female, which attracts a prison sentence of up to two years.

But Judge Robert Kerr discharged Witschke, 53, without conviction. His lawyer, Matthew Ward-Johnson, successfully argued a conviction would have a significant impact on his client's musical career and therefore outweigh the gravity of his offence.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Blabbermouth reports: SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has confirmed that he has been working with ANTHRAX on material for their upcoming studio album.

Speaking to Germany's Rock Hard magazine, Taylor said of the possibility that he will become the new ANTHRAX singer, "It's been banded about. I'm not saying anything right now because all it's been is just talked about. Obviously, I'm really good friends with those guys. It kind of started as a joke. And then the more we talked about it, the more serious it got. I'm gonna at least help them out. It's kind of a dream come true — ANTHRAX is one of my favorite bands. We're just kind of taking baby steps right now. [he still has a lot more to say, see the full story for that]- Click Here for the Full Story

Linkin Park Relief
PR reports: Music For Relief has selected two of America’s most reputable philanthropic organizations to work with, Habitat for Humanity and American Forests, Linkin Park announced today. To further its mission of providing aid to victims of natural disasters, Music For Relief will support Habitat for Humanity’s ongoing efforts to build simple, decent housing with low-income families affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita on the Gulf Coast. Music For Relief has also pledged to donate $1 of every ticket to Linkin Park’s Projekt Revolution tour to American Forests to plant trees. Each dollar donated plants one tree.

Established in 2005 by Linkin Park in response to the Southeast Asian Tsunami, Music For Relief was founded with the goal of bringing the music community together to provide aid to victims of natural disasters. Supreme Hendrix Decision
PR reports: Yesterday, the Washington Supreme Court denied the last appeal in Leon Hendrix’ five year challenge of James “Al” Hendrix’ Will. Al Hendrix was Jimi Hendrix’ father, sole heir and founder of Experience Hendrix, LLC, the family company committed to preserving Jimi Hendrix’ musical, cultural and artistic legacy. Immediately after Al Hendrix’ death in 2002, Leon Hendrix filed this lawsuit challenging Al’s chosen heirs and his plan for continuing Jimi Hendrix’ legacy.

After a lengthy trial in 2004, Judge Ramsdell denied Leon Hendrix’ challenge. Leon appealed. In 2006, the Washington Court of Appeals unanimously affirmed Judge Ramsdell’s decision. On June 5, the Washington Supreme Court denied Leon’s last appeal. With this decision, Leon’s challenge is over and the Will can now be carried out as Al Hendrix had intended.
