antiMusic reports: This week Jessica Vale
tells us about her favorite five tracks from her new CD Brand New Disease,
which is in stores right now. Here is Jessica with today's song "Exit 12":
Exit 12 is a road song, inspired loosely
from an exit off the Pennsylvania Turnpike called Breezewood. It's truck
stop, but not just any truck stop.
It's in the middle of dense forest and
has every single fast food and cheap motel chain that exists. It's a neon
glow you can see coming for a good 20 minutes away. It's such a ridiculous
place that they sell their own postcards. All that's on the postcards are
photos of fast food chains.
I love it so much I am giving you a
link to- check

antiMusic reports: It is a sign of our times.
Fans are now suing bands over cancelled concerts. Aerosmith is a looking
at a possible $20 Million dollar lawsuit for their abrupt cancellation
of a show at the Maui War Memorial Stadium. The band's PR firm said the
show was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts with a rescheduled show
in Chicago. Bet they now wish they have skipped Chicago.
Sleaze Roxx has the story on the lawsuit:
A local lawyer suing the rock band Aerosmith said dozens of fans have already
contacted her about their losses.
A lawsuit filed against the group said
the band's late cancellation of its Maui concert last month was unnecessary
and caused many fans to lose money they spent on plane tickets, car rentals
and hotels.
Lisa Sanchez is the first fan suing. She
lost $120 in airfare. Her lawyer said many have said they lost much more.
Fans may be eligible for a minimum $1,000
each if Aerosmith's cancellation is found to be deceptive, Faria said.
If the class-action is approved by a judge, all ticket-buyers will be contacted.
[that's a little steep. The Maui War Memorial Stadium holds 20,000 people.
So doing the math, this attorney is looking for Aerosmith to fork over
$20 Million dollars? How much goes to the attorney?] -

Contact Music reports: Punk icon Patti Smith
injured her arm after falling over onstage during a concert at London's
Shepherd's Bush Empire on Saturday (21Oct07).
The singer, 60, was performing in
the British capital at a gig dedicated to poet Arthur Rimbaud when she
tripped over a speaker, fell flat on her face and cut her elbow.
But Smith insists the incident didn't leave
her red-faced - as it wasn't the worst thing to befall her in her lifetime.

E! reports: Some former Britney Spears' pals
are calling for a blackout on Blackout-at least until the singer cleans
up her act. "Our message is simple," says one of the organizers of the
Be Proactive to Help Website. "Don't buy her stuff until she's better."
The MySpace-based page was created by people
who used to work with Britney, including a bodyguard, backup dancer and
makeup artist, as well as several old friends.
"We've all hung out with Britney a lot,"
says our source. "We've seen her at her best and at her worst. And we aren't
doing this to be mean. We're doing this out of concern, for herself and
for her boys. They need a mother figure and right now, they don't have
that."- more

antiMusic reports: Very sad news today about
the passing of J Church founder Lance Hahn. Austin360.com has the report:
Austin-based musician, journalist and punk rock icon Lance Hahn died Sunday
after a long illness brought on by complications from kidney disease. He
was 40.
Hahn was best known for the prolific rock
band J Church, which since its inception in 1992 produced dozens of singles,
EPs, and albums of sharp, melodic songs mixed with punk attitude. As Hahn
was quoted in 1995, "A lot of people write trying to keep track of all
the records we put out. I can't even remember." (The band was only three
years old at the time.)
Hahn also played in the punk band Cringer
from 1984 to 1991, played guitar for the rock musician Beck in 1994, owned
and operated the Honey Bear record label, was a long-time contributor to
the international punk rock magazine "Maximum Rock n Roll," and published
the zine "Some Hope and Some Despair." Many unfamiliar with Hahn's music
knew him as a manager at the Vulcan Video store on South Congress.-

Cursive reports: Cursive regrets to announce
the retirement of Clinton Frederick Schnase IV from the band. After years
on the road Clint has decided to spend more time at home in Omaha, NE with
his happy family of Whippets. Clint has been a lover of Whippets and worked
with them for a number of years. He feels it is his spiritual calling,
"You can see your future (or whatever) in their eyes."
We will miss touring, playing, laughing,
crying, driving, flying, walking, talking and drinking with Clint and are
making plans to love him forever. We wish the best for him and his Whippets
and promise to visit him and hang out once a month until the end of time.
Clint's heavy sticks have been passed to
the wonderful Cornbread Compton who has travelled and played with the band
for the last 7 months. Clint responded enthusiastically when Cornbread
accepted the drumming position with a loud, "F***ING SWEET, MAN". Well
put. - band's

PR reports: How does Jonathan Davis, lead
singer for multi-platinum, award-winning hard rock band Korn, plan to follow
the most successful [The] Family Values Tour yet? By doing something completely
different, of course. Fans have come to expect the unexpected of the groundbreaking
band and this fall they'll witness another first when Davis steps out on
his own for a solo tour.
In this unique concert experience, Davis
will draw from a wide variety of material, pulling from the entire Korn
repertoire with obscure tracks and some fan favorites, The Queen of the
Damned soundtrack and select cover tunes, focusing on songs he's rarely
- and in many cases, never - performed on stage before. Trading in amphitheatres
for more intimate venues, Davis will launch the tour at the Webster Theatre
in Hartford, CT on November 9th. Highlights include stops at New York City's
Nokia Theatre Times Square (November 13th) and Los Angeles' Orpheum Theatre
(December 4th). The tour wraps up in Las Vegas on December 11th.
"I have wanted to do this forever. Ever
since I did the Queen of the Damned and more recently the MTV Unplugged
I have wanted to be able to play those songs live. It's going to be acoustic,
but still heavy and very intimate. It will totally blow peoples minds."
says Davis.- dates

antiMusic reports: CKY frontman Deron Miller
has abruptly left the band. This means that the current Viva La Bands Tour
is also off. Miller made the announcement via his Myspace page and the
rest of the band reportedly plan to carry on without him, a move he has
labeled "laughable and illegal".
Here is Miller's statement: i didnt quit
CKY. after the san diego show i started getting really depressed and couldnt
eat or sleep, so of course i started drinking more and more moderately.
then in St. louis i walked to the back of the bus where chad, jess, hanna,
matt cole, and our sound guy jeremy were stitting in the back with the
door closed. before i walked in, i listened to them one by one trash me
for about 10 minutes sh*t talking some extremely personal painful things
that were mostly untrue and stupid...the most painless and laughable one
being how i spend all day on the computer refreshing the World Under Blood
page to get hits~! bottomline...EXTREME JEALOUSY...it was chad's idea to
do side projects, and when his didnt pan out he changed his mind. well
too late...- more

antiMusic reports: Gorgoroth's last remaining
founding member, guitarist Infernus, has split with the band. Right now
there seems to be a battle over who will legally carry on the name of the
group with the remaining members saying they plan to replace Infernus and
continue on and Infernus reportedly threatening legal action if they do.
Infernus posting this announcement on his
Myspace blog on Sunday: I am writing to inform you about the fact that
there has been taken a decision to split up the band, Infernus on one side,
Gaahl (vocals) and King (Ov Hell - bass) on the other. We can not continue
working together any longer. What is still not agreed upon is who rightfully
get to keep the band's name, as it is both parts will to continue. Since
this will be a question of legal affairs, I am afraid this might take time
to get sorted out. I am sorry for that.
The remaining members of Gorgoroth posted
this message on the band's official website: Gaahl, King and Infernus have
decided to part ways. Gorgoroth have existed as a three-piece for the past
several years but have ceased from this moment on in this incarnation.Vocalist
Gaahl (lyrics) and King (bassist/composer) will continue the scheduled
European tour in November under the name Gorgoroth with a replacement for
Infernus. King and Gaahl will continue to work together musically, performing
their art live and recording in the future. This decision was reached by
Gaahl and King as they have been the driving force behind Gorgoroth's music
for the past 8 years. Infernus has stated he will take King and Gaahl to
court over future use of the name Gorgoroth.- Infernus'
