antiMusic reports: Bobaflex's new album 'Tales
From Dirt Town' hits stores the day before Halloween but this week we'll
get you primed for it as we asked Marty McCoy to pick his favorite tracks
from the CD and tell us a bit about each one. Here is Marty with today's
song "Home":
Home was the easiest song on the record
to write. It was one off those songs that wrote itself.
The track is about the band's intense
touring schedule over the last 4 years. Bobaflex has seen many ups and
many more downs and the song documents it all! Home was the obvious first
single to everyone in the Bobaflex camp except for the band. Every now
and then you gotta trust the label and management. The song had been recorded
twice and went through major changes in the hands of Russ.T Cobb (Producer
& engineer of Tales from Dirt town).During the testing for home the
track went to #1 for 8 weeks on 99.7 the Blitz in Columbus Ohio! Need less
to say, the band is very confident and excited to see what Home is going
to do on a national level in 2008!
Wanna hear? The band are previewing one
song a day on their Myspace page. Check that out- right

antiMusic reports: By far the most read article
this week had absolutely nothing to do with the Clay Aiken gay silliness
but instead covered member protest over how the Bon Jovi fan club is run.
In fact, this was the most read individual article so far this month (it
ran under the headline Bon Jovi Give Fan Clubs A Bad Name?) We did hear
from many members with their views on the controversy and we will have
a special editions of our letters to the editor series next week where
we will feature emails from 4 fans. Two that have major issues with the
fan club and 2 that do not. Look for that on Monday or Tuesday. For now
here is a replay of "Bon Jovi Give Fan Clubs A Bad Name?": Bon Jovi proclaimed
with the title of their boxset that their fans can't be wrong but it turns
out that in the eyes of the power that be in the Bon Jovi camp that their
most loyal fans are often wrong. At least when it comes to critiquing the
services they receive after paying $50 to become a member of the band's
fan club. Some fans have had enough and started an online petition addressed
to Jon Bon Jovi. But you won't hear about it on the message boards within
the fan club because those are heavily censored.
Bon Jovi proclaimed with the title of their

of the power that be in the Bon Jovi camp that their most loyal fans are

had enough and started an online petition addressed to Jon Bon Jovi. But
you won't hear about it on the message boards within the fan club because
those are heavily censored.
The petition reads in part: "We, the disappointed
members of Backstage with Jon Bon Jovi, sign this petition after much patience
with and tolerance of the new fan club. We believe that the new fan club
is not acting in the best interests of its members, in particular: 1. Promises
made in exchange for the annual 06-07 membership fee, such as contests
and online chats with you, have not been delivered 2. The fees charged
for tickets, ticket packages and fan club events are heavily inflated 3.
The online ticketing system is unreliable, taking an average time of 2-3
hours to purchase a ticket (comparable to 5 minutes for some other artists)
with many issues and grief to fans 4. Local fan club members are unable
to get tickets to local shows."
Many fans are apparently afraid to speakout
against the problems with the club over a fear of being banished. -

antiMusic reports: The second most read article
this week was about Linkin Park's vocalist Chester Bennington breaking
his arm on stage during a concert and carrying on with the show. Here is
the story: Chester Bennington sat on a wall. Chester Bennington had a great
fall. Ok not quite, but the Linkin Park vocalist did break his arm Sunday
during a concert in Melbourne. However, all the kings men or horses were
not needed to put him back together again. He just kept on singing, a bit
like the Energizer bunny. That Chester is trooper!
Mike Shinoda broke the news to fans on
the Linkin Park Underground messsageboard. Here is what he had to say:
yeah, chester broke his arm / wrist at the melbourne show. he broke it
sometime around the fourth song in, and proceeded to play the entire show
with a broken arm. it was amazing...thanks very much for your "get well"
wishes, i'll pass them on. BTW, he says he'll be fine to do all the rest
of the shows and meet and greets, so don't worry! more to come later
oh yeah, please spread the word so people
know the shows and meet and greets are still going on, as planned--you
know how internet rumors can get. his arm is in a lot of pain, but he said
he's not going to cancel anything at this point.

antiMusic reports: The third most read story
this week was about comments from Jimmy Page where he opened the door to
the band possibly recording new music. Here is the story: While it isn't
a certain announcement, Jimmy Page has given Led Zeppelin fans the news
they have been hoping to hear; that Led Zeppelin may record new music.
The guitarist is petty sure that the band will get the "led out" in the
studio following their reunion concert at London's 02 Arena next month
and John Paul Jones hasn't ruled out further plans for the band either.
All eyes on are currently on the November
26th tribute concert for late Atlantic Records boss Ahmet Ertegun where
Page, Jones and Robert Plant will reunite on stage for the first time in
two decades with Jason Bonham taking the place of his late father John.
And while Page wouldn't directly commit to the four musicians playing additional
shows, when he was asked by The Winnipeg Sun about the possibility of them
recording new material he had this to say, "Look, I'd be really surprised
if there wasn't -- you know, I mean I just know the way we are. We're musicians
... as we're playing we'll probably be coming up with all manner of things.
And that will be fun. I mean, that's what it's all about.
"Let's do the 02 show, shall we? And then
we'll speak to you afterward," he added. Bassist John Paul Jones sang a
similar tune when he hinted that there may be a future for a reformed Led
Zeppelin but right now they remain focused on the 02 show. "Basically,
we are concentrating on this show," Jones told the paper. "That's where
all the energy is going. I mean, who knows, but one step at a time."
They had quite a bit more to say, read
the Winnipeg Sun article- more

antiMusic reports: [sorry for the length of
this one, we have a lot of ground to cover] The evil global conspiracy
to harm pop singer Clay Aiken has suffered another drastic setback. It
appears that a tabloid's attempt to slander the karaoke singer by claiming
Christians were rising up against him due to clayisahomophobia (the fear
that Clay is gay) was the latest lost battle in their war against sweetness
and light that is St. Clay, the pop singer that does indeed walk on water
and can do no wrong (according to those that worship him.) Plus the Green
Beret tells us that he never recanted his story about a sexual encounter
with Aiken.
All sarcasm aside, we have a follow-up
to a report we quoted last week from Contact Music which claimed that "elders
at a Wichita, Kansas church want to make sure the singer is heterosexual
before green-lighting plans for him to perform for their congregation".
Seems that wasn't exactly what happened, not by a long shot. According
to the Wichita Eagle the Central Christian Church has no plans to cancel
Aiken's appearance and what really appeared to have happened was that a
memo was sent to leaders of the church explaining why Aiken was selected
to perform at their "out reach" concert as well as quiet any fears over
the gay rumors. The memo praised Aiken's Christian values as well as listed
two of his reported public denials of allegations that he is a homosexual
and explained exactly why they felt Aiken was a perfect performer for the
event by saying, "keep in mind, this is an 'outreach event.' Many of Clay's
fans are Christians, however some may never darken the halls of a church,
but for this one event."
The tabloid report that Contact Music drew
their story from made it sound like there was widespread outrage about
the selection of Aiken to perform due to concern about his sexuality. A
report that a church leader told the Wichita Eagle was "just absolutely
false." Instead of widespread concern, it appears that only one "concerned
citizen" contacted the church, which reportedly has Wichita's largest Protestant
congregation. The church sent this citizen a copy of the memo which again
listed why Aiken was selected as well as addressed the "gay issue". This
somehow turned into the elders at the church demanding to be assured Aiken
is a heterosexual before allowing him to perform. Which is by any standard
is a wild stretch of the truth, even by "batboy" tabloid ones.
So we now set the record straight to correct
the erroneous report from last week and because of this we are probably
targets as well in this worldwide conspiracy against Clay. Wait, we can
hear the black stealth helicopters hovering nearby! oh my! And to the Claymates
that deluged us with their conspiracy theories about the allegations made
by Green Beret John Paulus and his reported recanting of those allegations,
Paulus contacted us this weekend and told us in part, "I'm the 'Green Beret'
who outed Clay Aiken. I have little doubt that the Claymates are inundating
you [with] 'proof' that I've recant[ed]. It's unfortunate that in their
desperation, Clay Aiken fans would take a sarcastic retort that I made
in response to their ludicrous assertion and construe it as a statement
of fact. Again, there was never a legitimate recant made by me nor will
there be. I stand by the story as reported by the National Enquirer and
as told by me on the Howard Stern Show back in February 2006." We had planned
to run a fun letters to the editor story later this week that would include
[completely unedited] reprintings of the absolutely wild conspiracy theories
Claymates have sent us [One person claimed that Paulus was the concerned
citizen mentioned above that contacted the church. Which he must have done
between filming pornos with a Clay Aiken impersonator, practicing how to
fool lie detector tests, and hacking into blogs belonging to members of
Aiken's family. Why Halliburton isn't tied up in this we do not know as
they are behind every sinister plot in the universe. That being said, we're
pretty sure that Elvis and Jimmy Hoffa are involved. Maybe even the Illuminati
and the Trilateral Commission.] We'll probably hold those for a later time
and instead run Paulus' statement to us in full so you read it in it's
full context.[this was posted later in the week - we'll save the Claymate
conspiracies for later. No more please you can "go sell crazy somewhere
else, we're all stocked up") Now if you'd like to read the Wichita Eagle
report which includes portions of the memo mentioned in this article you
can find it- here

antiMusic reports: The Eagles once sang "You
can spend all your time making money / You can spend all your love making
time" and it appears that they are concentrating on the money making part.
That's if you consider $1900 a bit too much to pay for a concert ticket.
Gigwise has the report.
The Eagles have announced a private gig
in London where tickets will cost £950 each. The one-off show at
the Indigo2 venue which is inside the O2 Arena will take place on October
31st and will be limited to 2,300 people.
The tickets for what a spokeswoman described
as a "once in a lifetime gig" will only be available to invited members
of the music industry. [So they will only bilk those they personally invite
and not the general public? How nice of them. You do get merch and a meal

story about a rapper being arrested. This one comes courtesy of the BBC.
Here are the highlights, click the link at the end for all the details:
US rapper TI has been arrested and charged with weapons offences just hours
before he was due to win two awards at a ceremony in Atlanta.
The 27-year-old was arrested in a city
car park on suspicion of collecting machine guns and silencers bought for
him by his bodyguard.
Taken into custody, TI was unable to collect

Metal Underground reports: They've sung about
'Dirty Deeds' for decades, but with a younger online audience hardcore
headbangers AC/DC are cleaning up their act. For years the domain name
acdc.com was held by a porn site with metal fans perhaps getting more than
they bargained for every time they clicked.
But after years of wry tolerance the band's
management in New York has finished negotiations to reclaim the name and
launch the brand at its rightful place online. AC/DC label manager Sam
Horsburgh from Albert Productions in Sydney said with fans as young as
10 or 11 turning to the site something had to be done.
"The demographic of the band has shifted
a lot," Mr Horsburgh said. "The push to get it back came predominantly
because they knew there were a lot of younger fans coming through. The
young fans are so net savvy it's the first thing they do. And there was
some interesting viewing up there for some time."- more

antiMusic reports: Was Radiohead's whole "pay
what you want" to download our new album all just an elaborate publicity
scam to encourage fans to pay for the music twice? Was the sinister plan
to offer the physical CD in a few months with extra tracks and use the
download as a way to encourage fans to buy the CD when it hits shelves?
That's one of the arguments in a story USA Today ran on Monday which said
in part:
Radiohead's management also confirmed that
a physical CD of In Rainbows will hit shelves sometime in January, possibly
with extra songs.
In an interview last week with British
trade magazine Music Week, Radiohead's longtime managers, Chris Hufford
and Bryce Edge, acknowledged that the download offer was a piece of a larger
puzzle to generate more publicity for the CD release.
"If we didn't believe that when people
hear the music they will want to buy the CD, then we wouldn't do what we
are doing," Edge said.- Read

antiMusic reports: Diddy he brawl? Maybe someone
made fun of his silly stage names or called his music shiddy and he took
offense? All we really know is what Gigwise reports in the following story:
US rapper P Diddy has been accused of throwing two punches during a brawl
at a nightclub on Saturday (October 13th).
The alleged incident is said to have taken
place at Kiosk, in the Soho district of New York, at 3.30am after the rapper
real name Sean Coombs became involved in an altercation with another
nightclub goer.
The New York Post says that Coombs argued
with Steven Acevedo outside the venue before police intervened in the incident.
It's reported, however, that after being provoked again, Coombs launched
two punches and shouted at Acevedo, "I'll kill you, punk!"

antiMusic reports: Couldn't snag tickets to
the short Garth Brooks tour? Worried that it might be your last chance
to hear him belt out "they call that thing a row-dee-ooo" live? We have
some good news and bad news for you. The bad news is that more dates have
not been added to the tour. The good news is that you can catch his final
concert at a movie theater the night it happens. While it's not the same
as being there, it's better than nothing. Here is the press release:
For one night in November, fans of Garth
Brooks will have the opportunity to see the legendary performer, with special
guest Trisha Yearwood, from a venue just minutes from their homes. On Wednesday,
November 14th, Brooks will play his final concert in a sold-out series
of nine originating from the brand new Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
The concert will be simulcast live to more than 300 movie theatres nationwide
in association with National CineMedia's FATHOM Events. The performance
is being presented by Sprint, and captured and distributed by Horse of
Troy Productions Inc., Jon Small/Picture Vision and AEG Network LIVE.
"It's things like this that make me praise
technology. The gift that AEG and NCM FATHOM participating theatres have
given me is to be able to go on a virtual tour without leaving home. How
does it get any better than that?" said Garth Brooks.

antiMusic reports: American Idol runner-up
Clay Aiken has a new gig. And even bigger news for Claymates that have
longed to see their musical deity in tights is that the new gig is on Broadway!
Not any cheesy musical will do, Clive must not have been consulted because
Clay actually landed a role with one of the few cool musicals- Monty Python's
Spamalot. Here is the gushing press release:
Clay Aiken, who became a music superstar
following his success on the American Idol television series, will join
the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Monty Python's SPAMALOT, making his
Broadway debut in the role of Sir Robin, at the Shubert Theatre, New York,
from January 18 to May 4, 2008.
Clay Aiken said "I really couldn't have
asked for a more wonderful group of people to work with. Let's not lie,
the chance to work with legendary creative minds like Mike Nichols and
Eric Idle is, on its own, a reason to jump at this opportunity. But, that's
not all. The producers and creative folks I have had the chance to meet
and work with so far have been unbelievably welcoming and wonderful. They've
really made me feel at home already, and I haven't even started yet!"-

Filter reports: There is a growing trend in
the music biz. They figure if you liked the CD enough to buy it once you
should have no problem buying it again. (At least with some extras.) Most
of these reissues are a bit of overkill and a mallcore label tend to do
this with most releases only a few months after the original CDs hit stores.
On the other hand there are landmark albums that deserve a second release
in special remastered glory- sometimes with the extras- sometimes without.
U2's The Joshua Tree seems to fit that bill. Here is Filter with the details:
Twenty years ago the release of The Joshua
Tree catapulted U2 to soaring levels of popularity. To commemorate the
twenty year anniversary the album will be re-released as a single re-mastered
CD, a 2CD set, a 2 CD 1 DVD package and a double vinyl set. The band has
also contributed new liner notes to the album.
There has also been speculation that the
rare material added to the expanded version will be Joshua Tree demos,
alternate versions and b-sides. The DVD is said to include the July 4th
1987 performance at the Paris Hippodrome as well as the documentary "Outside
Its America." The reissue will be available November 20th courtesy of UMe-

antiMusic reports: While Weezer fans are up
in the air when they will get a new Weezer album. (All eyes are on 2008.
Might we suggest calling it the the purple album?) Rivers comes through
with not only new music for fans but also a book! That's right you can
read and listen. Well, listen sooner and read sometime in the future. Maybe
around the time that new Weezer album comes out. Filter has the report:
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has announced
via (what else now a days?) his personal Myspace, that he will release
a collection of demos from 1992-2007 for an official CD release. Alone
- The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo, will be released on December 11
courtesy of Geffen Records.
Cuomo also admitted that the collection
of demos was originally intended to be released in conjunction with a book.
He then confirmed that his book, which is sitting on nearly 400 pages,
will be released separately with no estimated time of release at the moment.-

antiMusic reports: Death Cab for Cutie's Chris
Walla hit a bit of a snag while recording his new solo album 'field manual'.
It appears that while the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement department
is completely inept at keeping millions of people from entering the country
illegally, they have no problem keeping the biggest threat to national
security from coming in... music!
Walla's new album is due out January 29,
2008 but according to his label, the Feds have done their part to keep
that happening. Barsuk Records reports that "the project hit an unexpected
snag when a data hard drive containing critical album files was confiscated
by U.S. Customs. The drive was held 'to be analyzed' for several weeks
on its way back into the U.S. prior to final mixing of the album. Interestingly,
a strong political thread runs through the record's lyrics; Walla takes
more than a few shots at US policy, both at home and abroad, and challenges
at least one senator to find the exit door.... For whatever reason, the
drive has still not been returned."
But Walla won't let a little thing like
the U.S. government keep him getting his album done. Barsuk Records says
that "Despite delays in meeting his production schedule, Walla has finally
begun putting the finishing touches on the album during breaks between
his other commitments- more

antiMusic reports: Looks like Tommy "T-Bonehead"
Lee was wrong when he said of Kid Rock: "This is what people do when they
have sh*tty albums and their careers are going down the drain." Looks like
he is doing the opposite as Kid Rock's new album, Rock N Roll Jesus, debuts
at No. 1 on the Billboard 200/SoundScan album chart and according to his
label, "this marks the first time the American Baddass has landed at #1,
having previously reached #2 with his collection The History of Rock. "
Maybe Tommy was projecting his own career onto Kid Rock?
With all that said and the strange rip
in the space/time continuum where we side with Kid Rock, who incidentally
knocked Bruce Springsteen from the top of the charts, here are some highlights
from the Atlantic Records press release: Says Kid Rock of the achievement,
"I want to thank Punch Andrews for his guidance, friendship, and hard work
throughout my career. This couldn't have happened without him. And to my
fans, for once again giving me a great excuse to throw a big party. I look

antiMusic reports: A PR person forwarded some
quotes from an MTV interview with Nas discussing his plans to call his
new album "Nigga". A move that his label is reportedly not to happy about.
We'll let the man speak for himself here are the quotes: "I'm a street
disciple," Nas responded, quoting one of his earlier album titles. "I'm
talking to the streets. Stay out of our business. You ain't got no business
worrying about what the word 'nigger' is or acting like you know what my
album is about without talking to me. Whether you in the NAACP or you Jesse
Jackson. I respect all of them ... I just want them to know: Never fall
victim to Fox. Never fall victim to the sh-- they do. What they do is try
to hurry up and get you on the phone and try to get you to talk about something
you might not know about yet."
"If Cornell West was making an album called
Nigger, they would know he's got something intellectual to say," Nas stated.
"To think I'm gonna say something that's not intellectual is calling me
a nigger, and to be called a nigger by Jesse Jackson and the NAACP is counterproductive,
counter-revolutionary."
"We're taking power from the word," he
added. "No disrespect to none of them who were part of the civil-rights
movement, but some of my n---as in the streets don't know who [civil-rights
activist] Medgar Evers was. I love Medgar Evers, but some of the n---as
in the streets don't know Medgar Evers, they know who Nas is. And to my
older people who don't now who Nas is and who don't know what a street
disciple is, stay outta this mutha----in' conversation. We'll talk to you
when we're ready. Right now, we're on a whole new movement. We're taking
power from that word."

antiMusic reports: Korn has reportedly fired
the opening band on their "Bi#%h! We Have A Problem" tour after a member
of the band (Droid) laid out Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer. To make
matters worse for Droid, is the fact that they are signed to Munky's vanity
label. There are also contradictory reports that the beat down led to Munky
being hospitalized.
Blabbermouth says that "contrary to published
reports, Munky required no stitches for the injuries sustained in the altercation
and he is taking 'total responsibility for the fight,' which was described
as 'a dumb, drunken stupid moment' by a source close to KORN."
Little Rock radio station The Edge has
a different take on what went down in their "PuNk the MuNk(y)!" story:
So last night at the Edge's Monster Ball, a lot of people were asking me
why DROID, the opening band, didn't play. I chose to hold my silence until
this morning. DROID is on Munky's record label, Emotional Syphon Recordings.
Well, at first I was told DROID wouldn't be playing simply because "they
got in trouble." Well, I later found out through reliable sources that
Munky was at a local hospital getting stitches. THEN, I found out members
or simply a member of DROID was the one who put Munky in the hospital.
Well, I talked about this on the air this
morning, and to validate my claims, a listener who chose to remain anonymous,
emailed me a picture of Munky on the ground, knocked out, after drinking
heavily, pissing off whomever it was in DROID, causing a "scuffle" to take
place. Wanna see- the

antiMusic reports: The new documentary film Tupac: Assassination - Conspiracy or
Revenge? In stores Tuesday, October 23, is controversial enough with the
shocking allegations that surface in the DVD, but during the Q & A
that followed the pre-release media screening of the movie in Los Angeles
last Thursday, the audience was stunned to hear ex Death Row bodyguard
Kevin Hackie calmly state that he was an undercover FBI Agent during his
employment at Death Row from 1992 to 1996!
Hackie, who also said that "An arrest will
be made in this case," made his comments to an already anxious and restless
crowd of close to one hundred people who peppered the panel with questions.
Hackie joined the film makers, R. J. Bond and ex Tupac bodyguard Frank
"Big Frank" Alexander on the panel for the Q & A after taking issue
with an LAPD detective who was in the audience defending the department's
handling of the case, which had serious L.A. implications even though Tupac
was killed in Las Vegas. More can be heard from Hackie on an upcoming bonus
feature on the DVD.- more
