PR reports: Genre benders What's He Building
In There have announced tour dates in support of their recently released
Year of The Sun self-titled debut album. The band will play throughout
Eastern Canada in the month of October including dates in Halifax, NS,
Liverpool, NS and Trois-Rivieres, QC.
In keeping with the haunting Tom Waits
composition that spawned their name, What's He Building In There have ripened
their own deranged fruit in the form of their debut self-titled LP. Drawing
influence from the contrasting musical worlds of Mike Patton, Tool, Les
Claypool, Between the Buried and Me, Frank Zappa and many other innovators,
WHBIT have synthesized their many facets into one gripping and demented
melodic masterpiece. Clocking in at just over 54 minutes, this self-produced
saga will dash the preconceptions of heavy music listeners everywhere.-

PR reports: Building on a tradition that's
placed college students front and center for unforgettable live performances
from Beck, Death Cab for Cutie, Gym Class Heroes, TV on the Radio, Saul
Williams and many others, today mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network, confirmed
that Amy Winehouse, The Academy Is
and Spank Rock are all set to perform
at the 2007 "mtvU Woodie Awards."
The only awards to honor the music voted
best by the college audience, the 2007 "mtvU Woodies" will take place November
8th at Roseland Ballroom in New York City and premiere simultaneously on
mtvU and mtvU.com November 15th at 8pm ET.
In February of this year, Amy Winehouse
was named to mtvU's "Freshmen Five," a semi-annual list of emerging acts
poised to ride college student support to mainstream notoriety, and a few
months later she did just that quickly becoming one of the biggest names
in contemporary music. The acclaimed North London songstress will treat
students to a rare U.S. performance at the "Woodies," one of only two scheduled
for the remainder of 2007. Also on hand to shake things up will be student
favorites The Academy Is
, backed by mtvU since the release of their debut
album, Almost Here. Since then the band has rocked mtvU's "Campus Invasion
Music Festival '07," "Spring Break" and registered some of the most highly
streamed video premieres in the history of mtvU.com. In addition, The Academy
Is
is currently headlining a nearly 60 stop fall tour presented by mtvU
and also featuring Armor For Sleep, The Rocket Summer and Sherwood. Philadelphia-bred
hip hop group Spank Rock are getting noticed with their breakout first
single "Rick Ruben," off of their experimental debut album YoYoYoYoYo,
and with strong student demand, have found themselves in heavy rotation
on mtvU. The group's new release Bangers & Cash EP, released on Downtown
Records, hit stores on October 9th.- more

PR reports: Ami Onuki and Yumi Yoshimura,
otherwise known as Japan's sweetheart's Puffy AmiYumi have announced a
five-date U.S. tour that will bring their electrifying live show and unique
brand of J-Pop back to the states. Puffy AmiYumi will preview tracks from
the upcoming honeycreeper LP on this string of dates, which is being called
the "honeysweeper tour."
You may have recently seen the girls modeling
wide-leg jeans in the Annie Leibovitz-shot Gap campaign also featuring
Sarah Silverman, Forest Whitaker and Selma Blair. Or you may know them
from the hit Cartoon Network series Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, but it was Puffy
AmiYumi's music that initially gained the band attention.
After reaching superstardom in Japan, their
left-field, anything-goes take on J-Pop attracted the likes of indie icons
Jon Spencer of Blues Explosion fame, Dexter Holland of the Offspring and
Butch Walker, writer-producer for Avril Lavigne and Pink, who has also
collaborated with Puffy AmiYumi for the new honeycreeper LP.-

PR reports: James Fogarty, mainman of industrial
politico-metal project The Bombs Of Enduring Freedom, narrowly escaped
arrest today whilst transporting a piece of artwork.
'The Bombs Of Enduring Freedom' are currently
holding an exhibition of artworks related to, and coinciding with, the
release of their self-title limited edition debut album, at the Red Gate
Gallery in Brixton, London."...apparently a neighbour saw us loading one
of the pieces for the exhibiton into our car. The piece of work resembles
a bomb, which is placed so it appears to be coming out of the ground.
"We were just leaving Brighton, when we
were pulled over and asked top step out of the car. We were then told in
the strongest possible terms to explain ourselves. Once we had, we were
basically told that we could continue to the gallery, but that the piece
must be covered up until we reached our destination, and that it be destroyed
once the exhibition was finished.." The offending artwork can be viewed-

PR reports: Secondhand Serenade's new album
A Twist In My Story is set for a February 5th, 2008 release on Glassnote/East
West. Produced by Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails, Angels & Airwaves)
and Butch Walker (Avril, All American Rejects), A Twist In My Story is
the follow up to Seconhand's self produced acoustic debut Awake and features
Secondhand Serenade aka John Vesely playing with a full band for the first
time on record.
One of the things that amazes me about
this album is how much development it portrays, yet how organic it all
came together. There's lots more to hear this time around but the recording
process was still very natural. I think that feeling will come across to
the fans." John Vesely, Secondhand Serenade

anthems, full to the brim with scathing socially political and blatantly
political critiques.

PR reports: Leeds, UK-based band The Lodger
will be launching its first string of US dates on the east coast later
this month on the heels of the release of its debut stateside album Grown-Ups
and the hit blog-o-sphere tune (and genuine UK smash) "Kicking Sand".
On the heels of the successes of bands
like The Kaiser Chiefs and The Arctic Monkeys, the north of England is
fairly bursting with exciting guitar pop bands, and The Lodger is amongst
the brightest hopes.
Taking its cues from fellow northerners
The Smiths and The Wedding Present, The Lodger's music is classic melodic
pop, fueled by sparkling hooks and plangent lyrics. The tunes are sharp
and timeless, a thoroughly modern distillation of great Britpop from the
60s right up to today. Grown-Ups is a perfect introduction to the thrilling
pop charms of The Lodger.- dates

out the group as dueling axe slingers. Birds of Avalon's debut release,
Bazaar Bazaar, was produced by Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Wilco, Let's Active)
and Birds Of Avalon, and was released in the U.S. in May '07 and will be
