The Whigs Set Release
PR reports: The Whigs are proud to announce the release of their ATO Records debut album, MISSION CONTROL. Set for a January 22, 2008 release, this confident collection of songs follows up the band's self-released / self-financed album, GIVE 'EM ALL A BIG FAT LIP, which caught the attention of many, including Rolling Stone Magazine who declared the Athens GA three-piece "the best unsigned band in America."

The Whigs spent most of 2006 and 2007 on the road winning over fans and critics with their full throttle alternative pop / rock which NPR hailed as a perfect combination of "the gravelly rock of The Replacements with the off-kilter pop of Guided By Voices."

Eager to record their ATO debut, The Whigs entered the legendary Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles, CA with producer Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith). Sonically superior to anything the band has recorded to date, MISSION CONTROL is an album jam-packed with infectious melodies and dynamic rhythms.

Collective Soul Preview
PR reports: Afterwords (El Music Group) is the new studio album from Collective Soul. It is the seventh studio album by the hard-rocking band from the tiny town of Stockbridge, GA that's gone on to become multi-platinum hit-makers playing all over the world.

Bright as California sunshine, the first single "Hollywood" features an undeniable melody with tinges of '80s pop. Singer/ songwriter Ed Roland puts a bouncy energy to his sly lyrics that compare Tinsel Town to a naughty girl (or is it the other way around?): "Yeah, Hollywood/ You know I love you more than one man should/ Yeah, Hollywood/ kiss me, kiss me good."

Rockridge is featuring "Hollywood" this week as part of GHIDRAH thier a song-of-the-week program. Each week the songs change, but the links don't change - it is self-refreshing content. Check out the track - right here!

Grief Of War Ink with Prosthetic
PR reports: Los Angeles-based Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the addition of Japan's Grief Of War to the label's roster. Having formed - in their own words - for the purpose of being the true heir of real heavy metal, Grief Of War was started from humble beginnings in 2002 based out of Tokyo, and almost immediately after forming, the band quickly started rehearsing to develop and refine their sound through a series pre-productions recordings.

Releasing the self-titled 'Grief of WAR' demo in 2003, the band began receiving positive reaction about the release from a handful of CD shops and fanzines inside their native Japan, prompting the quartet to being energetically playing live in June 2004. Through this, the band began gaining an increasing fan base throughout Tokyo through uncountable tours and live dates, including playing together with Danish metal band Mnemic in March of 2005. Grief Of War finally unleashed the band's debut full-length, 'A Mounting Crisis...As Their Fury Got Released' through hometown label Yggr Drasill Records in May 2005.

Self-described as "Samurai Crunch," Grief Of War aims to capture the title as the heir of real traditional metal in the golden 80s, through a deal with Prosthetic Records set to begin with the release A Mounting Crisis... outside Japan on February 19, 2008. Music from the effort can be previewed

.... Review: Rob Zombie Live
Rob Zombie's studio recordings depend on production trickery and guitars processed to sound far bigger than they could naturally. And his live shows earned their notoriety for shock theatrics. So it should surprise no one that Zombie Live captures the best aspects of neither. (2.5 stars) - Read the full Rob Zombie Live review

.... Review: Asbestoscape
Neo-folktronica, Unblack Metal, Electro-glitch-Psychedelia, Neo-Instrumental-Electro-Industrial, the list goes on. Actually mixing these often contrasting sounds into a listenable concoction takes skills. Asbestoscape is one of the few CDs that are capable of that. (3 stars) - Read the full Asbestoscape review
