Mayall Tribute to a King |
PR reports: John Mayall, the "Godfather of
British Blues", returns with the Bluesbreakers for his latest studio album
"In The Palace of The King". This new album is John's tribute to one of
his blues heroes, the late, great Freddie King. King was a blues guitar
pioneer from the mid-50's through to his tragically early death in the
mid-70's and he influenced everyone from Peter Green to Dave Edmunds to
Stevie Ray Vaughan and probably most of all Eric Clapton, who produced
and played on King's final album. "In The Palace of The King" features
John Mayall's take on his personal selection of Freddie King favorites
and is a fabulous combination of two true blues legends.
TRACKLISTING: 1. You Know That You Love
Me * 2. Goin' Down * 3. Some Other Day, Some Other Time * 4. Palace Of
The King * 5. I'd Rather Be Blind * 6. Time To Go * 7. Big Legged Woman
* 8. Now I Got A Woman * 9. I Love You More Every Day * 10. Help Me Through
The Day * 11. Cannonball Shuffle * 12. You've Got Me Licked * 13. King

Buckley Anthology |
PR reports: Buckley’s “lamentably brief career,”
as it has been characterized by his mother, Mary Guibert, came to a tragic
and untimely end on May 29, 1997 (at age 30) when he died in a swimming
mishap outside Memphis by the banks of the Mississippi River, during a
recording stint in Memphis. One week prior to the 10th anniversary of that
date, SO REAL: SONGS FROM JEFF BUCKLEY the first official anthology of
his work (including two previously unreleased performances) will arrive
in stores on Columbia/Legacy,
Of primal interest to fans, collectors
and completists will be the two tracks making their album debuts on SO
REAL: SONGS FROM JEFF BUCKLEY. “So Real,” originally the centerpiece of
Grace, is heard in an acoustic version recorded in Japan. [have a listen

Business for Monster In The Machine |
PR reports: Monster In The Machine's BUTTERFLY
PINNED is more than just music--it's an active aural experience. The debut
album by the California band--Shannon Crawford (vocals/keyboards/guitars),
Doug Ardito (bass) and Josh Freese (drums)--is due out July 10 (online)
and August 21 (retail). It's one of two releases on Emotional Syphon Recordings
(ADA Distribution), the independent label owned by Korn guitarist James
"Munky" Shaffer.
Artistic freedom remains paramount to Emotional
Syphon Recordings. "When Korn was on Sony," explains Shaffer, "we were
so lucky the label never came in and said we couldn't say things on our
records. We were able to have 100 percent creative freedom. One of my main
goals is to maintain that. I'm never going to tell artists on my label
what they can and can't say. I want them to push the envelope."[see full

McCartney
Explains New CD |
PR reports: Paul McCartney’s 21st solo album,
Memory Almost Full will be released June 5th. Memory Almost Full is the
first release on the new Hear Music label (formed by Starbucks Entertainment
and Concord Music Group). Memory Almost Full will be available at Starbucks
locations and traditional music retail outlets internationally. Below is
a letter written by Paul McCartney introducing Memory Almost Full and explaining
its creation.
I started this album, Memory Almost Full,
before my last album Chaos And Creation In The Backyard (released September
2005). The first recording session was back in the autumn of 2003 at Abbey
Road with my touring band and producer David Kahne. I was right in the
middle of it when I began talking with Nigel Godrich about a brand new
project (which became Chaos And Creation In The Backyard).
After the Grammy nomination when everything
concerning Chaos was finished I returned to making this album. I was wondering
if I would enjoy it, but actually I really loved it. In places it’s a very
personal record and a lot of it is retrospective, drawing from memories
of being a kid from Liverpool and summers gone. The album is evocative,
emotional, rocking, but I can’t really sum it up in one sentence. [see

Nickelback
Cares |
PR reports: "If Everyone Cared," the latest
single from Nickelback's five-times platinum album All The Right Reasons,
reached # 1 on last week's Hot A/C chart, making it the sixth consecutive
single from the album to reach #1. An unprecedented feat, all singles from
All The Right Reasons have reached #1 at various formats. On January 29th,
Nickelback announced a charity initiative that has the band, along with
Roadrunner Records, WEA Corp. and Warner Chappell donating 100% of the
proceeds from the digital sales of the single and video for "If Everyone
Cared" to charity. Since the single's February release, the band has raised
$500,000 for Amnesty International and International Children's Awareness
Canada. Now, just halfway through the campaign, YouTube is reporting 1,000,000
streams of the track, while the single has been downloaded over 500,000
times.
Hot off the heels of a sold-out North American
spring arena tour, the band has announced new summer tour dates. Kicking
off on June 28 in St. Johns, NF, the routing takes the band through Canada
to the Northeast and Midwest states, ending in Alberta on July 30.[see

Peel
Buzz |
PR reports: Rousing. Stylish. Playful. Fun.
Boisterous. These are some of the words used by the influential All Music
Guide to describe Peel’s self-titled debut. Pavement. Stereolab. Yeah Yeah
Yeahs. Roxy Music. The Pixies. The Hold Steady. These are some of the bands
critics have mentioned in reviews of the record. So basically, what we’re
saying is that these wild and crazy kids in Peel have gone and made a highly
enjoyable record that is essentially impossible for even the biggest indie
rock connoisseur to resist. Whether it was the band’s intention or not,
Peel has placed itself in the company of some of the most critically praised
indie favorites of our generation.
