Sleazeroxx.com reports: FORMER Guns 'n' Roses
guitarist Slash has hit back at the prospect of a paltry £50 fine
for breaking Wales's smoking ban.
The former hell-raiser was last night facing
being one of the first in Wales to be prosecuted for breaking the ban -
which came into effect a month ago - after lighting up at a Cardiff International
Arena gig.
But it seems Slash isn't in the least worried
about the prospect of a fine, after telling Wales on Sunday: "I won't let
any smoking ban bother me!"
The infamous star - famed for playing his
guitar with a ciggie dangling from his mouth - and his Velvet Revolver
band mates were seen puffing away on stage during their only Welsh date
in the capital last Thursday.
But when told of the law which declares
that all enclosed public places in Wales are smoke-free zones in an interview
with Wales on Sunday a week prior to the show, the Los Angeles wildman
explained that it 'didn't worry him'.[see full story for more]-

PR reports: ‘Tis the season for New York City
trio Robbers On High Street with their new album, Grand Animals, all set
for a July 24th release and upcoming tour dates with The Redwalls.

to the fore on Grand Animals, with enough eccentric oddball characters,
tall tales, and music hall melodies to fill a Brooklyn bar. Get a sneak

PR reports: Benji Cossa's second studio album,
Between the Blue and the Green, will be released on June 19, 2007, from
Serious Business Records. "Sunset" is the first single and can be downloaded
for free at the full story link.
Stylistically Benji spins a mélange
birthed from outsider-folk, classic AM pop, lo-fi indie rock, and roots
music. Each tune is a treasure trove of lush instrumentation. Banjos, accordions,
glockenspiels, synths and organs play beside a spare rhythm section and
Cossa's otherworldly singing. This record is a wonder of DIY recording
and was captured at various home sessions Benji undertook with his close
pals Josh Kaufman (Higgins, Rocketship Park, Balthrop, Alabama), Devin
Flynn (Pixeltan) and John Walsh.
Between The Blue & The Green's record
release party takes place on June 19th show at the Mercury Lounge in New
York City.- Click

PR reports: What does a Frank Black type of
esoteric backwoods-New-Wave songwriter, a Jim O'Rourke-meets-Daniel Lanois
producer/songwriter and a Bay Area Sufjan Stevens-meets-Bill Hicks musician
have in common? The three disparate artists, who are also longtime friends
and collaborators, comprise the Bedroom Trio.
The Bedroom Trio is not a band. It's a
group of solo artists collectively spearheading its own genre called “bedroom
music” -- the sound of home recording fanatics, songwriters working casually
at home crafting songs more confessional, more genuine and generally more
creatively adorned and arranged than typical “lo-fi” or whatever other
categories are employed to ghettoize indie solo artists. And, while the
Bedroom Trio's members each have very different musical styles from one
another, they all share a common dedication to craft. Being released simultaneously
this month under the Bedroom Trio banner are albums from Diamond Jim, Trevor
Childs and Herman Jolly. Listen to tracks from each album at the full story

PR reports: Vee-Jay Records was the first
successful African-American-owned record company. At various times in its
13-year tenure, it was bigger than Motown Records and its Chicago rival,
Chess Records. With origins in blues and doo-wop, the label quickly expanded
into rhythm and blues, soul, jazz and gospel. Though it is perhaps best
known as the first American label to release The Beatles’ first album and
singles, it is the classic records by Jimmy Reed, Jerry Butler, John Lee
Hooker, The Staple Singers, The Four Seasons, and countless others that
are the label’s most enduring contributions to popular music.
A hearty selection of Vee-Jay Records’
legendary recordings has been assembled by Shout! Factory for Vee-Jay:
The Definitive Collection, an 86-track, four-CD anthology with detailed
liner notes by music writers Gerald Early and Michael Ribas. The package
will list for $59.98 and will hit the streets August 21, 2007.[see full

Keavin Wiggins reports: 5+ years and 100 million
iPods sold. The era of the iPod is in full swing and these cool little
devices are addicting! But it doesn't just stop after you buy one; you
have to outfit it for your lifestyle. Charges, speakers, and adapters.
We're here to help you a little with accessorizing your investment in the
iPod. (Which isn't cheap by any standards.) We'll kick off with the only
essential accessory: iPod cases. After spending over $200 on an iPod the
last thing you want to do is damage it and trust me those screens can get
scratched easily. And what happens when you drop your iPod? We won't even
go there as this isn't the Apple 3! (computer historians will get that
bit). This week we'll be looking at a variety of iPod cases (for 5g / video
iPods) with brief reviews (many of these cases have Nano versions so don't
worry).
centerstage: Today's case is the centerstage
for iPod video. The general make-up is similar to the iClear that we
covered yesterday, except the back panel is more opaque. The major difference
is the inclusion of the flip-around desktop stand. Basically this case
lets you to stand you're iPod upright on your table top allowing easy glance
access to your screen and click wheel controls. The stand snaps into the
front of the case over the click wheel when not in use and easily flips
around when you need it. (hint: to get the stand to snap in properly, when
putting the cover on, put your iPod in the back of the case, then snap
the front on. If you do it front first you might not be able to get the
stand to snap in). It comes with backs for both the 30 and 60 gig iPods
and like the iClear is a little difficult to open once you snap your iPod
in. (a coin in the provided notch will do the trick) This is a table-top
case so you won't get a belt clip. The review case we received had a black
stand but these do come in a variety of colors and they are not limited
to just the iPod. You can check out all of the options at the full story
link. We'll be back tomorrow with one of the coolest cases on the market!
