antiMusic reports: Daath fans at recent a
Ozzfest stop in Arizona may be curious why the band wasn't there. (and
may miss more shows) Turns out it was a case of a company renting the band
a junker "bus" that has caused nothing but problems for the band since
the tour kicked off.
The band explained what has been happening
via a post on their Myspace page on Sunday night: We've been getting lots
of mail from pissed off DAATH fans that either wanted to see us at the
Phoenix Ozzfest last week, or in Oklahoma City tonight. I'm going to explain
what happened. At the start of the tour a company which will remain nameless
rented us a converted airport shuttle bus. On paper it sounded perfect
for us but in reality it was an uninhabitable, undriveable piece of sh*t.
We were roughing it out with that thing but finally last week, right outside
the House of Blues in Hollywood, the transmission on it fell out. That's
why we missed the Phoenix Ozzfest. We didn't have a way to get there. The
company we rented it from did nothing to help us out

Contact Music reports: [note really music
related per se but this story may be of interest to a lot of readers] When
Late Night's Conan O'Brien takes over the Tonight show in 2009, he will
most likely be succeeded by former Saturday Night Live co-star Jimmy Fallon,
Broadcasting & Cable reported in its current issue, citing people familiar
with the talks between NBC and Fallon representatives.
The trade publication said that the network
won't make an official announcement until after the first of the year,
, but it quoted NBC late-night chief Rick Ludwin as saying of Fallon, "I
think he'd be terrific, and he is at the top of our short list."-

PR reports: Perhaps there is no other band
on the planet that the word 'screamo' fits best than for Of Hearts and
Shadows. Hailing from San Diego, California, the group - which includes
singer Scott Bixby, guitarists Ricky Vazquez and Ian Archer, bassist Isaiah
Herevia, and drummer Matt Williams - is readying the release of their first-ever
full-length, 'Touching Base with a Chainsaw,' which is one of the first
releases for the newly-launched Tyburn label. "We had two years worth of
writing for this album," explains Williams about the sessions. "We were
able to knock it out in three weeks - we didn't have to sit and write a
bunch of stuff."
With a scheduled release date of October
24th, 'Touching Base with a Chainsaw' contains countless hard-hitting highlights,
including the prog metal-esque "Make Sure You Tell Your Friends," as well
as "Pretty for Nostalgia," which shows that Bixby is one of the more intense
screamers in all of hard rock today.
"This band is about the future," explains
Vazquez. "Five young guys who appreciate the music that came before, play
the music of today, but are going to keep creating and stepping outside
the box into the future. Music is the last free thing left to do. There
are no limits, and that is going to allows us to grow with every album
we put out." And as evidenced by their debut, Of Hearts and Shadows are
certainly off to a good start.- Check

BBC reports: A man has admitted bootlegging
charges after hearing evidence from Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.
Robert Langley, 57, from Buckingham, originally
denied three trademark and two copyright infringements after being caught
at a record fair in Glasgow.
The seizure of CDs and DVDs two years ago
included £11,500 of counterfeit Led Zeppelin material.
[Page] last week told Glasgow Sheriff Court
he would never sanction the sale of his material.- more

BW&BK reports: FULL BLOWN CHAOS has announced
that they will be heading out on a full US tour this September with OBITUARY.
Vocalist Ray Mazzola tells that the bands
have been hoping to tour together for a long time, but it never happened
until now. "We've been talking about and planning this tour for years.
It's something we are very excited to do, to see Obituary every night,
because we love their music and it will totally blow our minds. We aren't
going to be backstage when they perform; we'll be right out in the crowd,
moshing it up."
While this tour leans much more to the
metal side of the musical spectrum, Ray says that the band is ready to
jump right in. "We love our hardcore roots, but we are metal heads in the
same sense, and Obituary has always been very prominent in our metal listening.

PR reports: Five O'Clock Heroes have set the
release of their debut album "Bend To The Breaks" for 9/18 via Glaze records
and are planning a US tour to promote it.
Transatlantic Brit-Rock saviors certainly
hold a deep routed and unconditional place in most New Yorkers and Londoners
heart. Having carved their way amongst the masses from the indie rock explosion
back in the early "Noughties" they ventured on the road, the old school
way, without funds and equipped with an array of amazing new songs, top
notch live performances and a presence hip and dark enough to attract the
hearts and eyes of any rock n'roll dude and doll.
Indeed, Five O'Clock Heroes have garnered
a loyal legion of fans, on both sides of the Atlantic, after playing a
string of European festival dates and about to throw themselves on the
road herein the US this Fall prepare yourselves for an onslaught of intense
and good old fashioned mod rock beats and riffs. Melodies accompanied by
the quirky and immediately recognizable vocals of Antony Ellis, singing
tales of his tribulations with tracks such as "Knocked Her Up", "Corporate
Boys" and "White Girls", it's not impossible to understand the charm, wit
and appeal this band so blatantly possess.- Watch

PR reports: A couple of Middle Eastern based
rock bands believe that rock & roll can help change the world. Seek
Irony (from Israel) frontman, Kfir, and Blood Ink (from Lebanon) frontman,
Rab, first met via My Space in early 2006. Over time, they shared music,
a blossoming friendship, and a mutual frustration that they probably would
never be able to meet in person and perform together. When war broke out
between Hezbollah based in Lebanon and Israel, the two contacted one another
to make sure that they, their bandmates and families were okay in the midst
of all the violence and bloodshed. They would email or instant message
back and forth almost daily to check on one another and in time the conversation
evolved into one of political views. These two young men agreed that the
world had a very lopsided view of how most people in their respective countries
felt about one another when the seemingly never-ending conflict is usually
about smaller extremist groups on either side. The two singers talked about
possibly doing a show together, but it quickly became evident that there
was no way to get the two bands from these two countries in the same place
at the same time. Eventually, they started discussing writing a song about
it and "Everything We Are" was born. - more

antiMusic reports: Just a quick correction
from the Minus the Bear story from yesterday. Turns out the press release
had an error in it and referenced the upcoming laser show at Pacific Science
Center as a "Laserium event." This event is not being produced by Laser
Images, Inc., the company that holds the registered trademark for Laserium.
Laser Images Inc are the ones behind the
famous Laserium shows at Griffith Park in Hollywood (and elsewhere including
past shows at Pacific Science Center) and they have been kind enough to
forward us a preview of their "entirely new Laserium experience" set to
launch next year. You can check that out at the link at the end of this
story.
The Minus the Bear laser show is set to
take place on August 21 at Seattle's Pacific Science Center where the show
will be set to music from the band's brand new CD "Planet of Ice".-
