Rock N Roll Universe reports: In a brand new,
exclusive interview conducted by Rock N Roll Universe, Clutch vocalist/guitarist
Neil Fallon discusses the band's latest album, 'From Beale Street To Oblivion,'
touring with Motorhead, the band's longevity, as well as the possibilities
of a long rumored DVD from the band. Also covered in the interview are
Fallon's thoughts on the effects of music downloading and the state of
the current metal scene.
RNRU : The album was leaked onto the Internet
in March, several weeks before the release date. What affect do you feel
that has had upon sales, and what's your take on downloading?
NF : Well, you can try and stop it but
you're not going to succeed. Of course, it's a lot harder to sell records
these days because of it. I can't really point any fingers because I've
done it myself to other artists. That would be pretty hypocritical for
me to not want it both ways. At the end of the day, a band of our size...we're
not making money selling records. We never have, and probably never will.
What we do is make our money on tour selling t shirts. That's how we're
able to continue what we do. So, if someone downloads a record and they
like it so much that they actually decide they want to go check out the
band live, then I think it's a positive thing. One of the good things about
the Internet is that it kind of levels the playing field quite a bit. A
band who 15 years ago, their only outlet would be to get a distribution
deal, now they can put their music out on the Internet and have a worldwide
distribution deal for free. It's not all golden, it does kind of make life
more difficult to be lucrative, strictly financially speaking. But there's
other ways to make up for that I think.

PR reports: Mustard Plug is set to release
their 6th full length album, In Black And White on Hopeless Records on
September 11th. The new album is a return to form of sorts, as Mustard
Plug recently headed back to the famed Blasting Room recording studio in
Fort Collins, CO to work with veteran punk producer Bill Stevenson (Descendents/ALL,
NOFX) the same studio location and producer of the band's seminal 1997
album, Evildoers Beware. While In Black And White's title may nod to technology
of the past, take one spin of the new album, and you'll instantly notice
a record that's as colorful and current as ever.
It's crammed full of ear-grasping melodies
while at the same time embracing the bands darker and more mature outlook
on their world, formed over the band's 16 year existence. Stay tuned for
details on the album pre-order.- tracklisting

PR reports: Egyptian artist Nader Sadek has
invited Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel), Trym (EMPEROR, ZYKLON), Alex Skolnick
(Testament), and Ralph Santolla (OBITUARY, ex-Deicide, Death), as well
as Middle Eastern legend Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Miles Jay (ex-Weird Al, Fathy
S alama's Orchestra, Liron Peled (Raquy And The Cavemen) and Raquy Danziger
to contribute to his multimedia installation "The Faceless" that opens
6th September at Michael Steinberg Fine Art in New York's Chelsea district.
These musicians worked with Sadek to produce
a noise experiment moving in and out of independently conceived death metal
and Arabic music tracks. This sonic composition accompanies Sadek's uniquely
installed drawings which juxtapose the iconographies of death metal and
Middle Eastern fundamentalism, which outsiders often associate with darkness,
moon worship, and anti-Christian fervour. "The Faceless" startles the audience
into rethinking connections between these two frequently misunderstood
and villified cultures. - more
