PR reports: HORSE the Band, along with COMBAT/KOCH
Records, has just released the album art for "A Natural Death," which hits
the streets August 28!
HORSE the Band enlisted talented LA-based
artist Billygoat (David Klein) to bring the ideas of "A Natural Death"
to life. The art was constructed from a 6 foot long, mixed media diorama
which was made out of wood. This diorama will be used as the cover and
fold-out insert for the album.
Everything from the intricate woodcutting
to the smallest details was done painstakingly by hand. The piece tells
a story in 6 panels that starts with creation and ends with a natural death,
illustrating the themes of the record and tying the whole experience together.-

PR reports: The Charms are on tour supporting
the release of the DVD "Easy Trouble", a film by Boston filmmaker Ben Oliver,
based on their struggles and triumphs in an ever-changing climate for mid
level bands.
In an interesting twist, the band signed
with Wicked Cool, Van Zandt's label, but left the label less than a year
into the deal over a host of disputes. The future for the band is still
bright. They have a new digital only release coming out on Red Car Records
in the Fall and plan to release a new album in 2008 on a yet to be determined
label.

antiMusic reports: Dying Fetus have replaced
their drummer Duane Timlin. Here is the statement they issued about the
parting and his replacement: We would like to announce the addition of
new drummer Trey Williams, from Baltimore, MD. We regret it has become
necessary to part ways with Duane Timlin, however we thank Duane for his
contributions to the band and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.
This lineup change will not have any effect
on our tour plans, which will go ahead as scheduled. Trey gave us a fantastic
audition, we have seen firsthand that he has the professionalism and dedication
we would expect.
We look forward to our next tour plans
with great confidence - we feel the fans will agree that this change will
be good for the band and our live performances. - At
press time they have three dates confirmed.

PR reports: More dates for Black Light Burns
have been added though August. If you don't know who that is, here is a
little info followed by the dates: He's been a) an underground metal mercenary,
abetting the likes of brainy young upstarts From First to Last and He Is
Legend, b) a fearless visual artist whose unsettling images will appear
on his forthcoming cd and most famously c) the chameleonic lead guitarist
for Limp Bizkit, who have sold over 30 million records worldwide. Now,
for Wes Borland's next trick, he's putting on the guise of frontman, leading
both a studio and live supergroup to even darker depths as Black Light
Burns. And the new look suits him well.
Cruel Melody was originally going to be
an esoteric, dirge-heavy solo project with a variety of singers, but as
Borland started writing heavier material, he finally decided to take the
reins behind the mike. It didn't hurt that he got inspiration not only
from Lohner, who doubled as the album's producer, but Lohner's famous former
employer.- more

PR reports: Desolate Ways is back with former
members. The doom metal band DESOLATE WAYS had another line-up change.
The drummer Ricardo Giordano left the band to dedicate his time to other
musical projects. After several tests with other drummers they decided
that the best option was to call Igo Menegaz, who returns to the band as
the bassist Rodrigo Fernandes did last year.
About theis change the guitarist Elizeu
Hainzenreder says: "We are very satisfied with the return of Igo as Desolate
Ways' drummer. We are a band which has the luck that all the members were
are childhood friends, it makes us a real family. The concerts to promote
Tearful will continue untill the end of the year, when we will concentrate
on the new album."
The return of the former line-up can be
checked in the 3-day festival River Rock, in 10, 11, and August 12th, where
Desolate Ways will play with other 32 South-American rock/metal bands.-

PR reports: The Rascals emerged from New York
City in 1966 with a British Invasion look and an American soul– music sound.
By the time their golden run on Atlantic was over, they’d racked up an
incredible list of hits: “Good Lovin,” “I Ain’t Gonna Eat Out My Heart
Anymore,” “I’ve Been Lonely Too Long,” “Groovin’,” “A Girl Like You,” “How
Can I Be Sure,” “It’s Wonderful,” “People Gotta Be Free” and “Carry Me
Back,” among others.
The principals of Collectors’ Choice Music
(CCM) spent years securing reissue rights to the Rascals’ Atlantic albums,
and will release them on August 28, 2007. The Rascals LPs have been reissued
on CD before, but not with the original mono mixes – which purists (including
remastering engineer Bill Inglot) believe to outshine the stereo mixes.
So with the first four albums – The Young Rascals, Collections, Groovin’
and Once upon a Dream – CCM includes the stereo versions back-to-back with
the mono versions. (Yes, there’s a certain geek factor to that, and that’s
what makes CCM great!) [back in those days stereo was an afterthought when
they were doing the mixes, that's why the mono version of say Sgt Pepper's
sounded so much better than the stereo version - ed] -

DiR reports: We're doing our best to keep
up with the mailbag but it's filling up quickly! If you've sent in comments
or questions and haven't seen them featured here there are a few reasons
for that. 1) You asked a question we already covered. Like the four people
that wrote in about some fun we poked at a one-semi-hit-wonder from almost
20 years ago whose bands keep failing but is trying to remain relevant
by hosting a big corporate "alternative" festival that was so unpopular
that it is no longer a tour but a single event. Look at last week's mailbags
for the answers to your questions. 2) We do not want to waste our time
or our readers time responding to such a stupid question or comments. 3)
We haven't gotten around to it yet or we are saving your mail for the right
moment. But keep em coming as these mails are turning out be more entertaining
than what most artists are doing at the moment. Here's the latest mailbag:
Dangling Participles Suck
Roger was scratching his head at the last
Mailbag where we kind of, sort of, poked fun at someone for misspelling
a word. Roger points out: How can you call someone out for misspelling
something when you guys do it all the time? Although I do admit I laughed
at your response. But was that a little hypocritical of you?
Response: Fair question Roger. The fact
is that we intentionally include at least two typos or misspellings each
and everyday. It started out a few years ago as kind of an inside joke
with one of our readers that dubbed herself "Grammar Nazi" and would meticulously
check every single article we published and send in scathing email everytime
that she spotted a typo or misplaced comma etc. So we started feeding her
errors until she gave up, but we have kept the tradition alive to annoy
other grammar nazis out there. (they let us know too!) That's just ONE
OF our versions of an Easter egg. There are a couple others but we can't
let all the cats out of the bag, you'll have to spot them yourself.
The Truth is Sometimes Politically Incorrect
Roberta also writes us about our last
Mailbag, taking exception to our comments about Orange County and reasons
for leaving it. She writes: I was very offended by your racist comments
about [we removed the name of the language from her comments out of respect
for the respectful people that speak it] and people peeing in your yard.
Response: Sorry if you took offense at
those comments but they can't be racist since they are the truth. Politically
incorrect-yes. But a true assessment of the situation. Sadly, the yard
urination was not an isolated thing but an almost daily epidemic and we
never pointed a finger at a specific race or language. So how did you know
what we were talking about? We took offense at the lack of respect that
peeing in our yard showed. So what's worse? Pissing on someone or bitching
about someone peeing on you? You may be offended but we were the victims
of a much bigger offense.
Death By Publicity Stunt?
Adam checks in to give us a opinion on
the Stalaggh Vocalist Killed story from yesterday. He writes: That Stallaggh
thing just doesn't ring true to me. The guy dies so the band use that as
a chance to talk about the guy killing his mom? That smells of a publicity
stunt to me and does this band even exist?
Response: We didn't originate that story,
so we can't tell you much about the validity. You should check with Blabbermouth
about that. It's even harder because the band is anonymous and "rumored
to consist of many top musicians from the Dutch and Belgian black metal
/ industrial scene," according to Encyclopaedia Metallum. We checked a
couple places on the web for info about this death (including a tribute
Myspace page which the owner logged into just today and the band's label
Myspace page) and none of them confirmed it. So that about all we can tell
you, but it looks like you may have made a good catch! -
