DiR reports: To celebrate the release of Unseen's
new CD 'Internal Salvation' this week we have asked Mark to pick his top
5 favorite songs from the CD and tell us a bit about each track. We conclude
today with the song "Talking Bombs". Here is Mark:
I can't exactly say what this is about
because we did not write it. It's a cover song by a great Boston band called
The Freeze. The Freeze is underrated and looked over. So many punk bands
that in my opinion were not half as good gained popularity as this band
stayed underground and unseen. We have wanted to do this song for years
and finally did it.- http://www.myspace.com/theunseen

Blabbermouth reports: As a child of 11, guitarist
Kirk Hammett watched in horror as his pet dog Tippy was penetrated by the
guy next door. That's just one of many jaw-dropping facts we learn about
ultimate rock monsters METALLICA in the new issue of British magazine Q.
Hammett explains: "I went to my neighbor's.
The guy took down his pants and started having sex with the dog! I didn't
know whether to laugh or cry. When he got up, I just took the dog and left.
She was still wagging her tail."
[Why they would go on record about such
things is a mystery. Maybe they have a new therapist that encourages such
things? They talk about more normal vices as well.- Read
about them here with the continuation of this story.

off the stage, leaping over stars like Brody Jenner and the Duff sisters

T.I. allegedly struck the individual with his microphone, and the bloody
patron was quickly escorted out of the hotel.

antiMusic reports: What to do when a dinosaur
with an overblown opinion of himself tells you that you need more cheese
for your album? If you're Kelly Clarkson you tell him where to put his
cheese.
We are talking about the great war between
Kelly Clarkson and RCA label head, Clive Davis. Davis, whose biggest claims
to fame are inheriting Barry Manilow when he took over a label after being
fired from CBS under a cloud of embezzlement allegations and later taking
credit for an employee's discovery of Whitney Houston, didn't care for
Clarkson wanting to be a legitimate artist and recording her own material.
Instead, he wanted the standard cheese factory to manufacture some hits
for her. Clarkson did the unthinkable, she stood her ground against the
geriatric label head.
Clarkson breaks her silence about the showdown
with Davis in the August edition of Blender. When Davis approached her
to drop her songs in favor of cheese factory "hits," Clarson tells the
magazine that she responded, "I don't know you very well, and I am not
a bull-sh*ter. I get you don't like the album. You're 80. You're not supposed
to like my album."- more

antiMusic reports: We have a follow up to
yesterday's "Breaking Benjamin Breaking up?" story. Breaking Benjamin frontman
Ben Burley took to the band's message board to reassure fans that the band
wasn't breaking up and explained the abrupt end to their tour. Here is
his message:
"What's up guys? Just wanted to fill you
in on what's going on. I regrettably had to postpone some shows, because
I'm not feeling well and haven't felt 100% since November when I left the
Godsmack tour four days early. I'm a private person, and I would like to
keep my personal health to myself but I wanted to go on the record and
tell everyone that this is nothing drug or alcohol related. As a matter
a fact I have been completely clean and sober for 7 months. I'm working
on seeing the best doctors and exploring every avenue possible to fixing
this. - more

PR reports: Kings of Leon really love to tour.
A big spring tour wasn't enough, so after taking a bit of break this summer
they are heading back out on the road again. It's no fun to tour alone
so they are dragging along Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to join in the fun.
Before the full run kicks off, they will
first invade Prince's stomping grounds for a two night stand at First Avenue
in Minneapolis on August 2nd and 3rd. Then they will head to Chicago to
show Ferry Ferrell how it's really done.
After a month off, the tour will launch
on September 2nd in Seattle at the Bumbershoot Festival and run until late
October with a finale in New Orleans on the 28th.- grab

from the partnership."

Blabbermouth reports: U.K. metallers BIOMECHANICAL
have unfortunately had to pull out of the upcoming SIKTH tour at short

has led BIOMECHANICAL with no option but to pull out of the tour.-

DiR reports: Earlier this week it was widely
reported that Kim Porter dumped Diddy. We didn't bother covering it because
a hip-hop breakup isn't really earth shattering news. However, a story
surfaced today that explains so much about the man with silly nicknames
we couldn't ignore it.
Long before he was shoveling musical manure
down the collective throat of the world, Diddy enjoyed Amish summers where
he got to practice with the real thing. Here is part of Contact Music's
report:
Rap mogul SEAN COMBS spent his childhood
summers with an Amish family, shovelling horse manure every morning. The
37-year-old New Yorker's mother enrolled him in the Fresh Air Fund, an
organisation for inner-city kids to spend time in rural communities, each
year.
He says, "I went to the extreme Fresh Air
Fund. I stayed with an Amish family every summer. "I guess that was my
mother's idea of a great vacation for me - no electricity, a bunch of farm
work, moving horse manure every morning, no telephones so I could contact
her.- more

Contact Music reports: Reunited rockers GENESIS
are set to have the last word about their incredible history in a definitive
band autobiography. Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks and former
bandmates Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett all agreed to be interviewed
for Genesis: Chapter + Verse in an effort to clear up myths about the group's
history.
The tome, which will hit book stores later
this year (07), also features extracts from one of late Atlantic Records
founder Ahmet Ertegun's final interviews.
Rutherford tells Billboard.com, "It's a
nice book. My wife read it and couldn't put it down. It had an effect on
me, too, reading all that stuff you say about each other.-

Gigwise reports: A new book alleges that Jim
Morrison died of a heroin overdose in a Paris nightclub, seemingly dispelling
the theory that he was killed by heart failure.
The Doors frontman was found dead in the
bathtub in his Paris apartment in March 1971 a death that's always been
shrouded in mystery. Coroners did not carry out an autopsy as they believed
there were no suspicious circumstances.
...bar owner Sam Bernett claims in his
book 'Life, Death, Legend' that Morrison died from a heroin overdose in
a toilet cubicle in his Rock and Roll Circus nightclub. Bernett alleges
that two drug dealers tried to revive the singer but failed, so they hauled
his body back to the apartment where Morrison's girlfriend Pamela Courson
apparently discovered the body.- What
a great way to sell a book no one would read otherwise! Read more "revelations"

Times Online reports: Brian May, the multimillionaire
guitarist who founded the rock group Queen, has finally completed the PhD
in astrophysics that he abandoned more than 30 years ago.
The 59-year-old composer of hits such as
Fat Bottomed Girls and We Will Rock You turned his back on the stars for
international fame with Freddie Mercury and his band. His thesis on interplanetary
dust clouds lay gathering dust of its own in the attic of his home in Surrey.
May's interest in the subject was rekindled
last year when he co-authored a children's science book with the astronomer
Sir Patrick Moore. He discovered that remarkably little research had been
done in the intervening 33 years. - more

Gigwise reports: Following a string of cancellations
bookies are now offering stakes as to whether Amy Winehouse will show up
at her forthcoming gigs.
Winehouse recently cancelled performances
at Oxygen in Dublin, T in the Park in Scotland and Summer Pops in Liverpool
citing "exhaustion" - although she was spotted drinking in a North London
pub.
William Hill one of the countries biggest
bookmakers is currently offering odds of 1/2 on Winehouse fulfilling her
commitment to appear at the Eden Sessions at the Eden Project in Cornwall
on July 17th. - more
