Police
Reunite |
antiMusic reports: Contrary to what we were
told last week by Sting's publicist it does look like the Police will reunite
and appear at The Grammys. This according to The Recording Academy, the
folks that put on the awards.
With this new the speculation now is if
the band will put on a full reunion complete with tour and maybe possibly
new music or if this will be a one off like when Sting, with Stewart Copeland
and Andy Summers reunited in 2003 for their induction into the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame.[see full story for more]- Click

Winger
Vs Metallica |
BW&BK reports: Back in the late ’80s,
Winger became the poster child for hair metal. The New York band drew ridicule
from MTV’s "Beavis & Butthead" and in the METALLICA video "Nothing
Else Matters," in which Lars Ulrich throws darts at Winger’s long mane
and pearly whites.
Speaking from a Tennessee tour stop, Winger
is quick to defend his eponymous band’s credibility, musical and otherwise.
"Our drummer, Rod Morgenstein, could out-drum
Ulrich with one hand tied behind his back," Winger, 45, said. "And Metallica
became (the rock joke) they said we were." [see full story for more]-

classic rock group the Eagles may soon be getting that peaceful, easy feeling

in nearly 30 years, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Tuesday.
"It's coming out in 60 to 90 days, if we
don't kill each other first," Henley was quoted as telling his audience

Set May Release |
CMJ reports: San Francisco fuzz rockers Black
Rebel Motorcycle Club are set to release their fourth album, Baby 81, May
1 on RCA Records. After the release of their Americana-esque 2005 album
Howl, the band is going back to the spaced-out supersonic guitars and the
wild thrusting drums heard on their earlier records. Baby 81 is named after
an infant admitted to the hospital in the wake of 2004’s tsunami who was
claimed by nine different mothers.[see full story for more]-

MSI
Anger Christians |
CMJ reports: NYC industrial group Mindless
Self Indulgence has been asked by iTunes to change the genre that they
are filed under. The band is currently categorized as "religious" because
of their devout fan base and cult-like following. As a result, angered
Christian organizations have filed complaints with the digital music company
to get the band's music removed from that category. The group's latest
album, You'll Rebel To Anything (Metropolis), peaked at #27 on the iTunes
Christian/gospel charts, in part due to several Christians having purchased
the group's music, on faith, even though it was marked as being explicit
material. [you have to admit that seeing the expression on the unsuspecting
downloaders face would be priceless. If you're not familiar with MSI go

Sony
BMG Owe Fans Cash |
SMN reports: According to BBC News, record
label Sony BMG is to reimburse consumers up to $150 (£76) for damage
to computers caused by CDs with hidden anti-piracy software.
The settlement was announced by the Federal
Trade Commission (FTC). The US regulator said the anti-piracy software
wrongly limited the devices on which music could be played to those made
by Sony or Microsoft. It also monitored listening habits so targeted marketing
messages could be sent to consumers. [see full story for more]-

Buckcherry
"Screws" Radio Station |
SMN reports: BUCKCHERRY continue to make friends
across the nation upsetting the masses with an 11th hour pull out from
KFMX radio’s 26th Birthday Bash. A statement from the radio station’s official
site reads as follows:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we have just taken
a tremendous screwing from the band Buckcherry. They have bailed on their
Lubbock date in order to be a last minute addition to an L.A. show. It
may or may not be a good career move for them, but it is a very crappy
way to treat a market and a fanbase that has supported them for a longtime.
We were just given this information this morning (in fact if you go to
buckcherry.com you’ll see that they still list the Lubbock date, at least
as of 7:02 p.m.).” [see the full story to find out who stepped up to replace
them.] - Click

Vh1
Armed With The Used To Be Famous |
antiMusic reports: Cat was wrong (Cat of Cat8Dog.com
that is), Armed and Famous isn't below the standards of Vh1's past their
prime celeb reality as the station plans to show an unaired episode this
Saturday as part of a Armed & Famous marathon.
The show featuring Erik Estrada, Trish
Stratus, La Toya Jackson, Jack Osbourne and Jason Acuña becoming
cops with the Muncie [Indiana] Police Department, was put on "hiatus" by
CBS after suffering from low ratings.
CBS aired four episodes of the series and
Vh1 will air the fifth this Saturday. The original plans for the series
was for seven episodes so the last two remain up in the air as CBS has
not officially "cancelled" the show but only put it out of its misery,
oops put it on "hiatus". There is confusion if the final two episodes are
even done. A VH1 spokesman told The Star Press on Monday, "If the producers
deliver to us the sixth and seventh episodes of the show, then we will
air them. As of now, it's unclear whether they are finishing them or not."

Son
Volt CD / Tour |
PR reports: The Search, the intriguing new
album from Son Volt, is set for release on March 6 on Transmit Sound/Legacy,
and it's by far the band's most daring and diverse album yet. The follow-up
to 2005's acclaimed 'Okemah and the Melody of Riot, 'The Search is a startlingly
powerful and inspiring departure from the band's alt-country laden records,
employing an exceptional variety of sounds, melodies, and arrangements.
Laced with Eastern-style electric guitar and Farrar's signature vocals,
the tune fades out to silence only to dive into 'The Picture,' a track
that features an upbeat Memphis-style horn section combined with stirring
lyrics that reflect on the current and future state of things, "when war
is profit and profit is war." There's the buzzing, Zeppelin-esque guitar
of "Action"; the hypnotic, other-worldly riff of "Circadian Rhythm"; the
vocal harmonizing of chanteuse Shannon McNally on "Highways and Cigarettes";
and the Big Brother commentary of title track “The Search,” a solid rock
song delivered as only Son Volt can. [you can't release a CD without a
