Punk Murder
punkbands reports: James Morrison, 25, was killed following an altercation at a hardcore show in Asbury Park, NJ this past weekend. According to the Asbury Park Press, there was an argument and a fight, "which at some juncture, proceeded outside," said First Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Peter Warshaw. "The exact role that Mr. Morrison played in any of this remains under investigation," said Warshaw. "Police are still working to piece together precisely what happened." Warshaw also said the death did not seem gang related.

Morrison's mother talked to her son's friends and told the paper, "They were sitting at the bar and had a couple of drinks. There was something where guys were arguing and, out of the blue, one guy threw a bar stool at my son and hit him in the head." She said her son was struck by a stool a second time, this time in the side of his body. Lorrie Morrison said her son and his friends were asked to leave the club, and her son was dazed, so his friends helped him out. "Out of the blue someone came from behind . . . and hit him in the head," she said. His friends heard a loud crack, and her son fell to the ground.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

RIP TRL?
punkbands reports: There's reports going around that MTV's once popular afternoon show "Total Request Live," which helped launch the careers of Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights and others, will be sh*t canned. With TRL gone, the network will probably take the show, re-package it, and pass it off as a new show because executives there most likely figure their audience are dumb little kids who won't know the difference.- Click Here for the Full Story

Jay Z's Dog Fur Coats
TMZ reports: A jacket from Jigga's clothing line, Rocawear, allegedly has dog fur in its collar, even though it's advertised as having fake fur. According to an investigation by The Humane Society of the United States, the Hunter jacket on Rocawear.com contains real fur from a raccoon dog, a dog indigenous to Asia that The Humane Society claims are skinned alive for the coats, hence the uproar.

As of today, the $265 coat was still a "featured" item on the Rocawear website. Late last year, a similar investigation found that raccoon dog fur was being used in a coat in rap mogul P. Diddy's "Sean John" collection; that item was removed from stores within a few days.

Reps for Jay-Z and Rocawear could not immediately be reached for comment. The Humane Society said that it informed the company of the issue a week ago, but that they've taken no action. [so in other words, avoid "fur coats" from all rappers.. you shouldn't be buying them anyway but here is another reason to avoid them.] - Click Here for the Full Story

Cavern 50th Birthday
AP reports: The stuffy cave-like club where the Beatles staged some of their earliest performances celebrated its 50th birthday Tuesday.

The Cavern Club - a former fruit warehouse cellar and air raid shelter - opened as a jazz venue in 1957 with the Merseysippi Jazz Band, but it was the advent of rock `n' roll that popularized the club where music producer Brian Epstein eventually discovered the Fab Four.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Britney Pukes on Boyfriend
hecklerspray reports: [couldn't resist this one…] The other day we were idly compiling a list of all the various ways that Britney Spears had alienated whatever fans she had left, and we realised that - hey - Britney Spears hadn't barfed copious amounts of runny vomit all over a boy yet.

Well, there is a God and he appears to be listening. According to reports, Britney Spears has been continuing to get over her messy split from Kevin Federline by treating her new boyfriend Isaac Cohen to the sort of lifestyle that only the fallen princess of pop can give a man; a weekend in a ridiculously overpriced hotel and a very special gift - the gift of spewing unrelenting torrents of warm gushing puke all over his clothes like an out-of-control fire hose attached to a very ill man's guts.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Zeppelin Orchestra
blabbermouth.net reports: Darcy Pohland of WCCO.com reports that the Minnesota Orchestra is scheduled to perform a special, "one night only" program of the songs of LED ZEPPELIN at the Target Center in Minneapolis on March 3 at 8 p.m.

Michael Sutton, a violinist with the orchestra, spent most of his work day rehearsing Schubert, but secretly he's humming a different tune in his head, even though he wasn't sure how the orchestra planned on pulling the concert off when they made their ZEPPELIN debut last year.

"My reaction was, 'Really? How's that going to work?'" he said, but added once they launched into the music, "everyone was just going nuts. It's a real rush."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
