Danger Will Robinson Fish Heads
conqueroo reports: In one corner, we have Barnes & Barnes, a duo thrilled to hold the distinction of having recorded the most requested song in the history Doctor Demento’s syndicated radio program. In the opposite corner, we have Larry “Wild Man” Fischer, arguably the most bizarre recording artist to emerge from arguably the most bizarre city, Los Angeles. What’s the connection? Well, Barnes & Barnes produced two Wild Man Fischer albums as charter releases for the soon-to-be-multimillion-dollar Rhino label. And now Barnes & Barnes’ classic Voobaha album, along with two Fischer albums — Pronounced Normal and Nothing Scary — will be reissued on Collectors’ Choice Music on April 3, 2007.

Barnes & Barnes was composed of Art & Artie Barnes, noms du disques for childhood friends Bill Mumy (yes, Will Robinson on “Lost in Space”) and Robert Haimer, respectively. Their goal was never to make it big — just to get played on their fave syndicated radio show hosted by Doctor Demento. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Rachel Z Declares that Jazz is Not Dead
PR reports: Declaring to the world, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that "jazz is not dead, it is alive and right here!," Rachel Z's latest fascinating creative stop Dept Of Good And Evil finds her in a slightly Goth state of mind, which complements the mix of popular and more obscure pop/rock covers and lyrical and soulful originals penned by her ("Moon And Sun," "Walking On Water," both of which feature her sensuous, romantic vocals) and longtime drummer and collaborator Bobbie Rae (the haunting elegy to the "Saint of New Orleans"). Kate Havnevik Is Coming
Filter reports: Kate Havnevik's debut Continentica/Universal release 'Melankton' will be in stores on
March 27th and she has plotted a few US dates as well. Here is a bit of what her publicist had to say about the CD, but you can judge for yourself at the full story link: Kate Havnevik is an unbelievable singer, armed with the sort of voice that swirls as soft as fresh snow, and induces chills just the same. Its crystalline perfection is the anchor of every song the Norwegian beauty writes. And speaking of writing, she’s also one hell of a songwriter, composing every song on her debut album, Melankton, from the ground up, including the string arrangements, which are sweeping, epic and beautiful. Her songs reach emotional depths without relying on trickery or dishonesty – every bit of music on Melankton comes straight from the center of Kate’s heart

3/6: Mo Pitkin’s House Of Satisfaction, New York NY
3/15: SXSW – Eternal, Austin TX
3/22: Joe’s Pub, New York NY
3/27: Hotel Café, Los Angeles CA
(more dates TBD)

....Million Billion - Ready. Fire. Aim.
Ready. Fire. Aim .is a CD which has fine tuned the art of fullness in brevity and stepped just over the line of merely being a good pop album.
