MxPx
Nailed Again |
PR reports: MxPx has rejoined Tooth &
Nail Records, reestablishing a strong and familiar relationship that dates
back to the beginning of the legendary Washington state trio's illustrious
recording and touring career.
"We were at a place where, somehow, we
found ourselves on this freeway looking at a Tooth & Nail off-ramp.
And it looked pretty good!" says singer/bassist Mike Herrera.
After three albums and two EP's on Tooth
& Nail (including the landmark "Life in General"), as many more for
a major label and 2005's widely-hailed return to form "Panic," MxPx is
hard at work in a Seattle studio on what will be their first album for
The Nail in over ten years. And the new material? It's incredible. "There
was nothing we didn't like about our last label, we just felt like we have
to try new things and always keep things fresh," Herrera explains. "Tooth
& Nail has grown tremendously as a label since we parted ways. In talking
to the people there, there is a real enthusiasm for our band. It's awesome."
Look forward to a major tour announcement from MxPx soon!-

Indie Book |
PR reports: In addition to writing and recording
songs for the third Majestic Twelve album due this fall, lead singer Kenyata
Sullivan is developing a book about his experiences in the underground
music scene to be released around the same time. Specific details about
the publication and release date will be announced later this year through
City Desk Productions.
Peppered with previously untold stories
about the famous and the infamous, the as yet untitled book takes readers
on a journey through the indie rock scenes of the past few decades, ranging
from the 1980’s underground cassette and zine cultures up to today. Whether
talking about watching Nirvana on Saturday Night Live with Joey Ramone,
or poking fun at both the indie culture of “hipness” and the mainstream
music machine, Sullivan’s book promises to be an engaging and eye opening
read for anyone interested in a genuine and humorous “from the trenches”
view of the indie rock revolution.- Click

Shocked
Hardcore |
PR reports: Michelle Shocked's longstanding
ties with the Crescent City vibrantly unfold in time for Mardi Gras with
an internet-only single. Entitled "Hardcore Hornography," the song is as
bawdy and bold as its title and will hopefully remind everyone that New
Orleans and other parts of the Gulf Coast are still recovering from a blowjob
they will never forget. "Hardcore Hornography" features New Orleans brass
denizens Troy Andrews on trumpet and Trombone Shorty on (what else?) trombone
as well as the NewBirth Brass Band (Tanio Hingle, bass drum; Kerry Hunter,
snare; Jeffrey Hills, sousaphone) "Virtual" street date for the song is
Tuesday, February 13.
Keeping with the festival spirit, however
– and as a reminder to fans that there’s still much rebuilding to be done
– the song is available free at http://www.michelleshocked.com and at other
sites that want to help spread it. A stream is also available at http://www.myspace.com/mshocked
, and visitors can also hear demos from the forthcoming album (ETA: August

the signing of avant-garde rock extremists GENGHIS TRON. Upon signing,
GENGHIS TRON comment: "We're incredibly excited to be joining the Relapse

The new Philadelphia transplants (Mookie
Singerman, Michael Sochynsky, and Hamilton Jordan, Jr.) have recently released
the critically acclaimed full-length Dead Mountain Mouth and are working
on writing the follow-up and Relapse debut. “We're currently building a
bold, psychedelic bridge to Godcity Studios where we'll be recording our
next album in August with Kurt Ballou." comments the band. "Thanks to some
serious unemployment we've been fully immersed in erecting said bridge--working
8 hours or more a day, seven days a week on new material. It's sounding

PR reports: Scum of the Earth (featuring former
Rob Zombie guitarist RIGGS) have announced that Ivan DePrume has joined
the band. When asked about his decision to join the band, the original
White Zombie drummer explained "when Riggs approached me about joining

They take the harmonic and melodic
parts of bands like Killswitch Engage and Sevendust, and lay them over
crunchy guitars and mainstream rock beds. Then they stripped out all even
hints of industrial music and replaced them with Creed-like jams.
