Audioslave
RIP? |
TuneLab reports: Could Audioslave's time be
coming to an end? In a recent interview with Launch Radio Networks, Audioslave
guitarist Tom Morello stated that he isn't certain about the future of
Audioslave or Rage Against The Machine, but he does know he'll be focusing
on his current solo-project Nightwatchman. Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell
has been in the studio recording for his own solo-project the last two
months, while Bassist Tim Commerford and Drummer Brad Wilk have also been
in the studio together recording some Bass/Drums only tracks.
Morello said that Cornell did not want
to tour in support of Audioslave's third studio album, 'Revelations', which
came out last Fall. He gave no indication of whether the band would record
or tour again.[see full story for more]- Click

Aiken
A Predator |
idolator.com reports: Clay Aiken is apparently
aware of his fans' all-too-dirty minds; last week, he invited Claymates
to "come up with the most outlandish story you can that places [him] in
a really juicy, tawdry, scandalous, shameful story." We figured the idea
of him getting kissed on the calf by his AC/DC-loving drummer was juicy
enough, but the Best Week Ever crew decided to take it to the next level--and
by "next level," we mean "a potentially slanderous mash-up with 'To Catch
A Predator.'" [ you can catch the video at the full story link and post

Bluegrass
Ramone |
PR reports: The New York Times preview said
it best: “There is life after the Ramones, but who knew it would be bluegrass?”
The write-up referred to Tommy Ramone’s new bluegrass duo Uncle Monk, co-fronted
by Claudia Tienan. In what seems an improbable second act for the man who
wrote “Blitzkrieg Bop” and “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend,” Uncle Monk is rooted
in the old-timey and bluegrass traditions. The duo’s self-titled debut
album featuring 14 original songs will be released to brick and mortar
retail on the indie Airday Records label, distributed by Burnside Distribution,
on May 22.
“We are doing what feels natural to us,”
says Ramone. “We are making use of string-band instrumentation along with
alternative rock flavorings. We’re drawn to the classic simplicity of string-band
music, but at the same time we are deeply involved with the aesthetics
of indie music. There is a similarity between punk and old-time music —
both are home-brewed as opposed to schooled. Both have earthy energy. And
there is a certain cool in old-time music that is found in the best alternative
artists.”- Click

FMQB reports: Pumpkins manager Paul Geary
recently spoke to MTV.com about the mysterious lineup of the new version
of the band, giving more credence to the assumption that James Iha and
D'Arcy are not in the group currently. However, Iha was spotted over the
weekend in attendance at the wedding of MTV star Bam Margera. [see full

Apple
Vs DRM |
idolator.com reports: Steve Jobs posted an
essay, innocuously titled "Thoughts On Music," on apple.com today; instead
of being filled with reflections on what his iPod's been bumping lately,
though, he talks about digital-rights management and its future. He closes
with a challenge to record labels:
[this is just a small part, see the full
for it all] So if the music companies are selling over 90 percent of their
music DRM-free, what benefits do they get from selling the remaining small
percentage of their music encumbered with a DRM system? There appear to
be none. If anything, the technical expertise and overhead required to
create, operate and update a DRM system has limited the number of participants
selling DRM protected music. If such requirements were removed, the music
industry might experience an influx of new companies willing to invest
in innovative new stores and players. This can only be seen as a positive
by the music companies.- Click

Jetboy
Reunited |
KNAC reports: 15 years ago, San Francisco
rockers Jetboy had a break up that left many fans wondering if they'd ever
see the group return to action again. But in 2005, the band was asked to
headline a one-off show for the Hollywood Rocks audio companion box set
release party at the Key Club in Los Angeles. With a few phone calls to
each other, all original members accepted the offer to do the show…. On
December 19th in their hometown of San Francisco, they recorded together
for the first time in over 15 years at Different Fur studios. The band
also recorded a cover of 'Folsom Prison Blues' by the late, great Johnny
Cash as a bonus track (this track was a regular show closer on the Feel
The Shake tour In 1988/89). These two tracks will be included along with
old demos from their 8 year run on a yet to be titled CD/DVD available
this spring.[see full story for more]- Click

"One week ago Alexi had the worst luck. He tripped at a bowling alley and
his shoulder was hurt. Something is broken but it's not serious like the
accident two years ago. He has to be careful 'cos the shoulder will be
sensitive for a while. Six weeks of no guitar playing - doctor's orders.

Info on Buckcherry Suit |
PR reports: As a follow up to the previous
story. The lawsuit we were phoned about wasn't over the Buckcherry name.
Today we received a copy of the lawsuit via a press release which states
that "the suit was originally filed on September 24th 2004, but has been
amended as of late January 2007." The basics of the suit allegations are
that Josh Todd entered into an agreement with Todd Meagher to form Todd
Entertainment, LLC and Meagher alleges that Todd has breached that contract
which included a $4000 monthly salary to Todd (but he supposedly later
demanded $10K a month).
The suit is against Todd, Buckcherry and
now also includes "Universal Music Group International, Warner Music Group
Corporation, Warner Chappell Music, Inc., Atlantic Recording Corporation,
Buckcherry Worlwide Llc, Kovac Media Group D/B/A/ Eleven Seven Music &
10th Street Entertainment, The Kirby Organization, Interactive Marketing
And Design, Inc., D/B/A swagrox.com & upwards of a dozen other individuals"
according to the press release.[see full story for more]-

Paula's
Legal Reality |
TMZ reports: TMZ has obtained a lawsuit filed
against Paula Abdul by a production company claiming the "Idol" judge tried
to screw them out of a show based on Paula's life.
According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles
County Superior Court, Pilgrim Films and Television (PFTV) met with Abdul
and David Russo (her producing partner) in 2004 and discussed a talk show
featuring Abdul. According to the suit, after some false starts, the concept
evolved into a reality show titled "Hey Paula," based on Abdul's wacky
life.
The lawsuit alleges that the project fell
apart after Abdul demanded final editorial control over the final product.
The suit claims PFTV was trying to get the show back on track by selling
it to Oxygen. But PFTV claims Abdul allegedly came clean and told the peeps
at PFTV that "she had secretly taken PFTV's 'Hey Paula' project ... to
Bravo."[see full story for more]- Click
