For this holiday we will be looking back over to top stories from this
past year. Here are the stories that caught the most attention in December.
Hecklerspray reports: Calm down; yes, there's
apparently an American Idol sex tape about to hit the internet, but rest
assured that you won't have to see Simon Cowell's bare todger flapping
around like a torn blister in a windtunnel.
In fact it's a sex tape of Jessica Sierra,
who we're told did moderately well at American Idol two years ago. And
the sex tape isn't Jessica Sierra's only problem right now - that comes
in the form of an arrest for intoxication and resisting arrest which violates
her parole from the time she was arrested for battery and cocaine possession.
But while Jessica Sierra faces the possibility
of a lengthy jail sentence, we all get the sex tape to look forward to.
And since we didn't even know who Jessica Sierra even was until about 10
seconds ago, it's basically going to be a video of an anonymous, slightly
rough-looking woman having it off. We can't decide if that makes it better
or worse, actually

Contact Music reports: Rockers Green Day have
prompted rumours of a secret side project, after fans realised new music
released under the name FOXBORO HOT TUBS sounded remarkably like the band.
The group are currently working on a follow-up
to their 2004 disc, American Idiot, but the stark similarities in vocals
between Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong and those on the Foxboro
Hot Tubs' EP have got Internet blogs wondering whether the Holiday hitmakers
have gone undercover to experiment with a new 1960s-inspired sound. [listen
at http://www.myspace.com/foxborohottubs]
If Green Day are proven to be behind the
Foxboro Hot Tubs, it would not be the first time they have released tracks
under a pseudonym [Doesn't just about every emo/pop-punk singer these days
try sound a bit like Billie Joe? The trick we hear is to hold your nostrils
closed while singing. - More

Contact Music reports: "And the woman was
arrayed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stone
and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations, even
the unclean things of her fornication." Is Revelation 17 about Britney
Spears? Not likely, but Method Man thinks the poptart is a sign of the
Apocalypse.
Contact Music has the story" WU-TANG CLAN
star METHOD MAN insists the moment BRITNEY SPEARS shaved her head signaled
the end of the world.
The rapper believes the Toxic star's decision
to remove her hair earlier this year (07) marked a complete change in the
music industry. He says, "The whole music industry is twisted on it's f**king
head. And Britney Spears shaved her head - that's how I know the Apocalypse
is coming."- more

antiMusic reports: Remember last week when
Method Man said that Britney was a sign of the apocalypse? He might be
onto something. If this story pans out then God might just become angry
enough to bring it on. Contact Music reports:
BRITNEY SPEARS is in secret talks to play
the VIRGIN MARY in a quirky retelling of the Nativity Story. U.S. reports
suggest the troubled pop superstar is being considered for a part in new
film Sweet Baby Jesus.
Leaders of a Catholic group are outraged
by claims BRITNEY SPEARS is in talks to play the Virgin Mary in a spoof
movie. French producers want the troubled pop star to take the lead role
in new film Sweet Baby Jesus - about a pregnant 19-year-old who goes into
labour alone on Christmas Eve. And officials at America's Catholic League
are appalled the single mother-of-two is up for the role.-

antiMusic reports: You can just imagine Sting
laughing as he sits in his castle counting his loot as he ponders his wisdom
over ditching his lute and giving The Police reunion the green light. He's
seeing a lot of green these days over the decision, as the tour has been
named the top grossing tour of 2007 by Billboard Boxscore. As of the reporting
cutoff date of Nov 13th Sting and company brought in a cool $212 million
from the trek.
Far less hyped, Genesis put on a reunion
tour this year as well which grossed $129 million beating out boybander
Justin Timberlake's $126.8 million drawing FutureSex LoveShow tour.
Here is how the rest of top 10 came out
according to Billboard: Kenny Chesney ($71.2 million), Rod Stewart ($70
million), Cirque Du Soleil's Delirium ($59.4 million), Roger Waters ($53.2
million), Tim McGraw/Faith Hill ($52.3 million), Christina Aguilera ($48.1
million) and Rascal Flatts ($41.6 million).
But it's not all good news as US concert
attendance is down almost 20% this year. Wonder how much outrageous ticket
prices have to do with this? More on that trend and this year in tour grosses-

antiMusic reports: Ike Turner who is often
credited with helping craft the very first rock and roll song, 1951's "Rocket
88," died at his California home at the age of 76. Turner's biggest notoriety
would come later when he paired with Tina Turner, both professionally and
personally.
Here is the report from Jam!: Ike Turner,
whose role as one of rock's critical architects was overshadowed by his
ogrelike image as the man who brutally abused former wife Tina Turner,
died Wednesday at his home in suburban San Diego. He was 76.
Turner died at his San Marcos home, Scott
M. Hanover of Thrill Entertainment Group, which managed Turner's career,
told The Associated Press. There was no immediate word on the cause of
death, which was first reported by celebrity Web site TMZ.com.-

SleazeRoxx.com reports: Scott Weiland was
formally charged Wednesday (December 12) with driving under the influence
of drugs and refusing a chemical test that is required by law, TMZ.com
reports. As previously reported, the Velvet Revolver frontman -- who was
arrested November 21 in Los Angeles -- will be arraigned Thursday in a
court in Van Nuys, California.
Weiland faces a "maximum penalty of one
year county jail and a $1,000 fine, and a minimum penalty eight days in
jail," in light of his prior conviction and refusal to take a drug test,
Los Angeles City Attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan said in a statement,
according to the site. He added that Weiland's car could be impounded for
no more than 30 days.
Earlier this month, the rock star's management
issued a statement denying the driving-under-the-influence charge and said
he had voluntarily taken a sobriety test. "Scott Weiland was recently involved
in a minor accident in Los Angeles and denies he was driving under the
influence," the statement read. "He voluntarily took a Breathalyzer test,
which the defense believes registers well within the legal limit. He is
anxious to get to court on December 13 and clear this matter up."
Prior to the statement being released,
TMZ.com posted a copy of the arrest report, which stated that Weiland was
driving on a Los Angeles highway around 6:18 p.m. on November 21 when he
was involved in a non-injury collision in which it was determined he was
at fault. "While the police were investigating the traffic collision, Weiland
exhibited signs of impairment," the report read. "The investigation officer
administered a series of field sobriety tests to the driver, which he was
unable to satisfactorily perform."- more

antiMusic reports: It's been a long time since
they rock-n-rolled but rock legends Led Zeppelin broke out a lot of fan
favorites for their two hour and ten minute reunion show at London's O2
Arena on Monday night (December 10th). The band, singer Robert Plant, guitarist
Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones along with John Bonham's son Jason,
got together for the first time in decades for a tribute concert for Ahmet
Ertegun, the late head of Atlantic Records head that signed the group.
Here is their setlit: 'Good Times, Bad
Times', 'Ramble On', 'Black Dog', 'In My Time Of Dying', 'For Your Life,
'Trampled Under Foot', 'Custard Pie', Nobody's Fault But Mine', 'No Quarter',
'Since I've Been Loving You', 'Dazed And Confused', Stairway To Heaven',
'The Song Remains The Same', 'Misty Mountain Hop', 'Kashmir'. ** 'Whole
Lotta Love', Rock And Roll'.
Will they carry on with a reunion tour?
Even Robert Plant doesn't seem to know. According to Gigwise, Plant told
the Sunday Times that "it wouldn't be such a bad idea to play together
from time to time." He was quick to explain what he said later in the same
interview, however, claiming that it was "somebody else inside me was saying
that. "Not the bloke from Wolverhampton," he added. "The bloke from the
land of the ice and snow, the bloke with his shirt unbuttoned down to his
waist – and he can shut up. We're not having any more of that. It was great,
but I've got to go down the highway now." - Read

antiMusic reports: Quiet Riot singer Kevin
DuBrow, who was found dead at his Las Vegas home last month, was found
to have died of an accidental cocaine overdose. According to AP the Clark
County coroner spokeswoman Samantha Charles confirmed the cause Monday
after toxicology results were received Monday.
Dubrow was found dead November 25th at
his Las Vegas home and an autopsy conducted the following day could not
determine the cause of death pending toxicology tests. From an earlier
report: Police say Dubrow had been dead for about six days before his body
was discovered. Lori Lee Samson, Dubrow's fiancee, was the last person
to see him alive. She says when days passed, she [k]new something was wrong.
Among the collection of memories, Lori
Samson will forever save Dubrow's last words. "At 2:40 AM Monday he texted
me 'I love you so much' ", Samson says.

antiMusic reports: Apparently Jay-Z is too
greedy for Universal to hang on to. This according to what an unnamed source
told the New York Daily News. We'll see how reliable this source turns
out to be. In the meantime, Contact Music has the report: Rap mogul JAY-Z
will reportedly be ditched by his Def Jam record company - because bosses
are sick of his excessive demands. The star - real name Shawn Carter -
was reportedly keen to leave his post as president of Def Jam, a subsidiary
of Universal, in favour of a new contract at Columbia, but new rumours
suggest his current label may drop him first.
Rumours of a label change have been rife
in the music industry after Jay-Z was reported to be unhappy with Def Jam
following the appointment of producer/performer Jermaine Dupri as the president
of their urban music division in February this year (07).
But now the rapper could have the decision
made for him as his contract with Universal is due to expire at the end
of this month (Dec07) and negotiations for a renewal have so far proved
unsuccessful.- more

antiMusic reports: Morrissey has issued a
rather detailed statement via fansite True To You.net about the recent
NME article that insinuated his was racist because of comments he made
in an interview over his concern over immigration and it's impact on the
UK and the loss of British culture (which incidentally was published before
the latest immigrant riots in neighboring France). The UK music pub refused
to apologize or retract the story and as a result Moz filed a lawsuit against
them.
Here is some of what he had to say in his
statement (a link to the full text follows): On Friday of last week I issued
writs against the NME (New Musical Express) and its editor Conor McNicholas
as I believe they have deliberately tried to characterise me as a racist
in a recent interview I gave them in order to boost their dwindling circulation.
I abhor racism and oppression or cruelty of any kind and will not let this
pass without being absolutely clear and emphatic with regard to what my
position is. Racism is beyond common sense and I believe it has no place
in our society.
To anyone who has shown or felt any interest
in my music in recent times, you know my feelings on the subject and I
am writing this to apologize unreservedly for granting an interview to
the NME. I had no reason whatsoever to assume that they could be anything
other than devious, truculent and unreliable. In the event, they have proven
to be all three.- he

AFP reports: Led Zeppelin could get together
again for more projects after next week's long-awaited reunion gig, members
of the iconic British rock band hinted in newly-published comments.
Guitarist Jimmy Page recounted his excitement
when they first played together in preparation for their reunion next Monday,
and warned that the group should not wait too long or they will "need Zimmer
frames."
"I would like to keep this moving," he
told Q music magazine's January edition, when asked if he would like to
record some new material after the "one-off" concert at London's O2 Arena
on Monday, December 10th. "I must say that after our initial get-together
it was so exhilarating and fun that I did feel I would like to do more,"
he added.
Bassist John Paul Jones added: "I guess
the door has been left slightly ajar. We'll have to see how we feel about
it afterwards. Everybody's got to really want to do it." [Before the link

of the Bonnaroo Festival have denied that Led Zeppelin and Metallica will

Metal Underground reports: A crusade is looming
as church groups prepare to take on heavy metal heavyweights poised to
play in Wellington [New Zealand] over Easter. Wellington Pentecostal church
Lifepoint says the lineup of bands — including former bat-biter OZZY OSBOURNE
and KISS — are "not appropriate" and will have "negative influences" on
the city during the two-day Rock2Wgtn festival on March 22 and 23.
They plan to lobby other church groups
and will look at taking their concerns to Wellington City Council. "It's
not appropriate from our angle of things," said pastor Karen Crawshaw.
"I don't think we can force our views on
others but at the same time we think it's a very negative influence on
our city. [Would they be acceptable if Ozzy and KISS played with snakes
in the middle of their shows, spoke in tongues and drank poison? Gene has
